Decision is a thought process of
selecting a logical choice from the
available options .
For a good decision, a
person must weight the positives and
negatives of each option, and consider
all the alternatives.
Rational decision making is a multi-step process for
making choices between alternatives. The process of
rational decision making favors logic, objectivity, and
analysis over subjectivity and insight .
In a rational decision making
process, a business manager will often employ a series
of analytical steps to review relevant facts,
observations and possible outcomes before choosing a
particular course of action ".
1.Identify Problem
2.Choose The best
Decision Style
3.Develop Alternative
Solutions
4.Choose the Best Solution
6.Evalute decision
Outcomes
5.Implement the
selected
alternative
1. Identification Of The Problem – This Step is
comparatively easier than the other steps , as the
Upper Management already Mentioned the Problem
which have to be Solved .
2. Selection of best decision Style - The next step in
the rational decision-making process is to identify
the decision criteria. This step deals with choosing
variables that will determine the decision outcome
3. Develop Alternative solution - The next step is to
develop alternatives, which is where the potential
solutions need to be considered. There will not be
any consideration in this step, just a generated list of
alternatives.
4. Choosing the best solutions – This step includes
choosing of best alternative from the available
5. Implementation of the Selected Alternative – The
alternative ( Option ) which has been selected earlier
has to be implemented . So , all the planning ,
Mapping regarding the alternative is done in this step .
6. Evaluating the Decision Outcome - It seems to be
the most important part of whole Rational Modal . By
evaluating the results , the managers can understand
whether their decision was right or how much the
benefit or Profit they gain by implementing the
respective decision .
Advantages And Limitations of Rational
Decision Making....
Advantages....
- Addressing complex decisions by breaking them down
- Characterizing decision problems and goals to ensure addressing all
needs and desires
- A growing capability to analyze and access the information that
can improve guidance based on the facts
Limitations….
- The whole Rational decision making modal is time consuming
and cannot be taken without knowing all the facts and
information's .
Creativity is a human faculty which helps individuals
and groups to take sound decisions on various
problems , It is a vital ingredient in successful decision
Making .
Creativity is generally defined as an ability
to think originality and bring out something new . It
is not necessarily a super human ability . It is a genuine
human thinking process by which certain individuals
conceive ideas which do not strike others .However ,
Creativity by itself is not enough in decision making .
In Rational decision making individuals are analytic ,
fact and a step by step process to come to a decision .
Whereas , creativity is an ability to bring out
something new or novel .
For the best of the results and
decisions , the managers or individuals must use both
the Decision making modal ( i.e. Rational modal and
Creative Modal ) according to the Situations and
Circumstances .
