17. Explain two contrasting types of
Christian pilgrimage (4 marks)
Some Christians like to visit an important historical site linked to their faith.
For example. If they went to Lourdes they may visit some of the places linked
to Bernadette. Many of these have become tourist sites where people are
concerned with making money than religion. However they would see the grotto
where it is reported that Bernadette saw visions of Mary and hear miracles
which have taken place at Lourdes. No doubt it would be a happy occasion going
with other Christian friends and they are likely to remember their pilgrimage
for a long time.
