1. In what ways does your media product use,
develop or challenge forms and
conventions of real media products?
2. Using the conventions of real media products
My product uses the darker iconography typically used in thrillers. I
included a lot of shadows and darker areas within the product.
Incorporating and editing the images to become darker, giving the
characters a darker and grittier appearance.
3. Developing and challenging conventions in
real media
My thriller initially shows the protagonist as the antagonist, which is
very uncommon in most thriller films. This will bring an unexpected
level for the audience as they will not know of this twist within the film.
4. Nine Key Frames
Outside and alone,
suggests the person is
isolated from the others
around him.
Darker clothing and
setting, may show a
darker side to the
character.
5. The house seems to be in a remote, back ally.
This could be that the character is trying to
cut off communication between them and
the outside world.
6. Behind the dark front door of the house there is pure
white walls, and the character is wearing white
shoes. The white can signify a purer side to them.
7. This camera shot is almost like it is CCTV,
like the character is being watched by
someone else. But could also suggest a
nervousness surrounding the character,
the need to protect his house as if he is
waiting for someone to come to the
house.
The dark surroundings can portray the darker side of the
character, however the light of the screen can also portray
that good can come from what is on the computer.
8. The increased focus on the keyboard can show the
increased importance of the computer and the role it will
play in the film.
9. The audience feel like they are sat behind
the character in this shot, and still are not
able to see the computer screen, still with
the mystery of what the character is
doing.
10. Again the audience is left with the mystery of the
character, still haven’t seen his face. Almost like a
someone is watching over the characters
shoulder.
11. The font for the title is similar to that of the font
when writing code, foreshadowing the events to
come with the character.
The title leaves a lot to the imagination of the audience. There is no
current explanation to the audience as to the reason for the title or as to
what it means.
12. It’s the end of the opening sequence, with no clue as to the
identity of the character. The character seems to have only
just arrived at the house, to be leaving so soon after
suggests the character works quick and is very good at
what he does.
