The document discusses building organizational capacity through capacity building efforts. It explains that capacity building involves enhancing an organization's ability to govern itself, develop resources, forge community links, and deliver services to fulfill its mission. Capacity building requires changes which can be difficult, as people often resist change. However, making improvements to organizational systems through focusing on areas like culture, vision/leadership, learning, management, and external relationships can help organizations better accomplish their goals. Leadership support is important to champion capacity building and organizational change.

38. “
”
In social justice organisations, big vision and
ambitious goals are motivating to the staff;
however, the lack of people capacity to reach
the scale of success organisations seek can end
up exhausting everyone.
The internal work – especially finding and
developing the right staff, overseeing financial
and organisational growth, and creating
diverse revenue streams – often consumed
young leaders who had little experience or
support in these areas. Many expressed the
need for better management skills as they
sought to implement internal organisational
changes to move towards their vision
