1. Microsoft
Word
⚫ A word processor is a software that is used to prepare a
document. A word processor is used to create a document,
add or delete text to it. You can perform a number of
operations in a word processor.
⚫ For example you can:
▪ Create a document and check its spellings and grammar.
▪ make the text impressive by making it bold, italics,
underline, etc.
▪ insert picture or drawing in the document.
▪ save the document for record and future reference.
▪ take a printout of the hole or part of the document.

2. ⚫ Microsoft word, popularly known as MS Word or
simply Word has several versions, like word 95, word
97, word 200, word 2003 and word 2010. in each
newer versions, advanced features are included.
However the basic features remain same.

3. STARTING MS WORD
⚫ Click start button, take the mouse pointer to
programs and from the programs menu select
Microsoft word. Alternatively, click start and select
run…. Type winword in the dialogue box that opens
and click ok button to start MS Word.
⚫ You can also start MS word by double-clicking the
shortcut, if its not present on the desktop by
selecting microsoft word in programs menu and
dragging it to the blank area of the desktop.
