1. Entrepreneurship & IT Industry in Bangladesh
Every year a large number of young people complete their graduations from different
Universities and Colleges. From them a large amount of students start business as a fresh
Entrepreneur. But a little number of entrepreneurs start their business with IT (Information
Technology) related Industry. For this vital reason the IT industry of our country is not strong
that we expect. But if we see our past we can say the present IT Sector of Our Country is
Stronger than before. Now IT business is the most popular business in the world. If we see
developed countries we understand their IT sector is very strong. So they earn a lot from the IT
industry. We know the world biggest rich man Bill gates who is the founder of Microsoft in
United State of America. He started his business as an IT Entrepreneur. Beside Microsoft a good
number of IT Companies play a great role to change the world such as Intel, Apple and IBM etc.
Finland, Singapore, Sweden, Netherland, Norway, Switzerland, USA, Japan which have the best
digital IT infrastructure in the world. IT industry of our country offers us Software Solution
Network Solution and Hardware solution. There are different Software Companies in our
country. They serve banking software, office management software and Mobile application
software etc. Now Bangladeshi Mobile Developers develops quality Apps for Different mobile platform
such as Android,IOS,java and Windows. Our developers now create different kind of games for
Computer and Mobile. It is a matter of great glory of us that Our Software sells Outside of our country.
“The information Technology industry in Bangladesh has gradually come of age and today
accounts for more than Taka 25 billion or USD350 million in annual revenues. Twenty years ago
the IT industry was predominantly a hardware vendors market with little or no value addition
locally. Today more than 320 software and IT services firms registered as members of the
Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS)

2. The growth in BASIS membership is significant for the IT industry for a number of reasons:
a) It indicates a deepening of the IT skills available locally
b) It manifests growing confidence of global and local buyers on local IT talent
c) It marks a clear departure from the traditional entrepreneurship model based on physical-
labor-intensive production industries.”

3. Bangladesh government has declared that Bangladesh is going to be a “Digital
Bangladesh”. To make Bangladesh Digital government has taken different kinds of
projects. There are different kinds of IT sectors who are working for the developing a
Digital Bangladesh. Basically it is not possible to make Bangladesh Digital without
developing IT sector. In Bangladesh now we are using 3G network some people in some
fixed area. This is one of the big obstacles to develop a good network. First we have to
make a good communication medium with all the people using internet or any wireless
medium. The network speed is not satisfactory in the rural area of our country. The
network bandwidth is not also satisfactory. On the other hand Internet Charge is high for
all class of people of our country. This is why most of the village people cannot use
internet. To make a good IT market first we have to all aware of the benefit of the IT.
Common people of our country are not aware of IT. If we can use our IT to all our daily
activities, we will be successful and our IT market will be stronger that we expect. There
is big problem that our investors are not very eager to invest money in this Sector. That is
why the number of IT Industry in our country is less than developed countries. A big
amount of revenue comes from freelancing and outsourcing. A good number of
freelancers work on oDesk and Elance. oDesk and Elance are most popular outsourcing
website. Our young people work on oDesk and Elance and they earn money from online
work place. They work on data entry, graphics design, web development, Software
development etc. But to withdraw money policy is not satisfactory in Bangladesh.
PayPal and other money bearing service are not very good in Bangladesh. So government
should take necessary step to make easy this system.
IT solution makes our life easy and more comfortable. The uses of IT are related to our
day to day life. E-commerce is one kind of solution that is changing our business system.
To buy a product we go to market. But E-commerce or online markets save our times.
Now we can buy different kinds of product from Internet in at home at any time. An
internet user who must have mater card or any supported banking account buy product
from online website. E-commerce now comes to the new system of business in
Bangladesh. Most of the IT developed countries use online market or E-commerce.
Conventional banking process is now going to online banking process where IT is related
mostly. Most of the bank of our country offers different kinds of online banking services.
User can easily check his/her account balance, transfer balance etc services from internet
using mobile or computer. Now different kinds of payment policy have added to our
banking services such as electricity bill, phone bill, insurance bill etc. All banking
services have been produced by Data base software such as SQL, Oracle etc. So in this
case IT has made easier system for bank user and bank executer.

4. The network system has changed the distance. We need not to go to any where to give
message. Now we can easily send text, image, audio and video message to anyone from
anywhere using Internet. There are many network companies in our country. They all are
working for developing our network. A good number of IT experts work in Network
Company. Grameen Phone, Banglalink, Teletalk, Robi, Airtell, Citycell etc are the big
network company in Bangladesh. Now they all offers 3G network for development of
good network in Bangladesh. From the Networking sector Bangladesh earn a lot.
In the conclusion we can say the IT (Information Technology) Industry is growing up in
Bangladesh. Now- a-days a good number of students study in Computer Science and
Engineering and they want to start their carrier as IT developer or developing IT related
Industry. Our government also works for “Digital Bangladesh” that means IT developed
Bangladesh.
