The majority of
kindergartens are state-
owned, but there are
private kindergartens
too. Other preschool
institutions: groups
in schools, centers
in kindergartens, family
kindergartens etc.
There are several basic and extra education programs.
As a rule each kindergarten chooses
a basic program and one or several extra programs
and adapts them to local conditions
In Russia the majority
of children from 2 to 7
years attend early
child care institutions
from 8 am to 7 pm
5. How can we implement ESD
ideas in ECEC practice ?
We implement ESD ideas and approaches
in the author’s program ‘Nature Is Our
Home’, which is spread in all regions
of Russia. The program and some of the
projects are also known in other countries
The main purpose of the program
is to develop child’s personality,
to make him creative, socially
active, humane, capable of deep
understanding and caring for
nature and for all the world around him
Age: from 2 to 10
Over 40 textbooks, 16 DVD-movies,
games published for the program

The project is implemented as a part of pilot project in the field
of ECEC ‘Moscow education: from infancy to school’ implemented
