Great Philosophers Relates Learning
Through Nature
Aristotle:
Aristotle conducted an investigation of different kinds of natural
phenomena, providing a general framework for an understanding of nature.
Descartes:
Descartes distinguished between two kinds of substance, matter and mind.
According to this system, everything which is "matter" is deterministic and
natural—and so belongs to natural philosophy—and everything which is
"mind" is volitional and non-natural, and falls outside the domain of
philosophy of nature.
And also Galileo, Francis Bacon, and Robert Boyle, Rousseau so on.
Learning through nature shapes beliefs and attitudes in many areas,
including ethics, moral theory, metaphysics, and anthropology.
What is Nature school?
A community where children learn and shine through authentic
experiences in nature, becoming active global citizens for a
sustainable future. (The Nature school)
Philosophy of Nature school
The Nature School is unlike any other school, its philosophy,
vision and objectives are holistic and natural.
Get inspired and get out there.
Vision of Nature school
A world in which all people learn from and within nature
Principles of Nature School
 A holistic approach to children’s learning and
development
 Each child is unique and competent
 Children need real-life, first hand experiences
 Children are active and interactive learners
 Children need time to experiment and develop
independent thinking.
Objectives of Nature School
 To engage children and their families in largely unstructured
nature play sessions that are creative, hands on, experiential
and learner-led.
 To be inclusive, by valuing the individual skills and
contribution of each child and catering for all needs,
abilities, backgrounds and socioeconomic factors.
 To improve the general health and wellbeing of children
and families in our community through a deeper, more
regular connection with nature.

Benefits; Learning Through Nature
 Greater independence and self-confidence stemming
from frequent opportunities to learn what their
bodies are capable of and to assess risk through play.
 Higher long-term academic achievement and
executive functioning as a result of the self-control
and problem-solving practiced through play.
 A deep and personal connection with the natural
world, fostered through extensive unstructured
outdoor playtime.
Nature Schools in Bangladesh Context
Though nature school is realistic for students to learn and knowledge
gathered from nature school can be more sustained but in Bangladesh
context full implementation of nature schools theory is not possible.
Whether we can use this theory in our running education system. Like,
when facilitator explain any examples/theories/problems, he/she can make
students introduced naturally any phenomena relates those theory.
Any Questions ?
Thank You
