How to use Pinterest
Pinterest core functionality:
• Add a Pin: grabs images from the website by using “Pin it” browser toolbar or through the
Pinterest website directly.
• Upload a Pin: uploads personal content using the portal.
• Create a Board: organizes visual collections in a user-defined set.
• Additionally, users can “Like”, “Comment” and “Follow”.
• Ask for an invitation to join Pinterest.
• Sign in via Twitter, Facebook, Email.

• Social share button for a personal web site is available among Pinterest tools.
• Possibility to add the follow button to one’s website.
• Possibility to add a price to a pin.
• Exclusion of pinning.

Discussion
• No official release of Pinterest API yet, but there exist several unofficial
API interest groups.
• The current goal of Pinterest is getting more audience and making the
product more valuable, however the board considers the return on
investments in future.
• Pinterest alternatives rather tailor to needs of a particular
segment/group (We Heart It – teens, Gentlemint - adults, Knack
Registry – wedding, Chill – primary focus on video, etc…).
