As a leader for a small team of 4-5 people, I was responsible not only for the productivity of my team, but also the safety of
each individual. During the three month mission the team presented medical equipment, assistance and food in small
villages in Ghana and participated in local recreation activities.
Christian Academy of Louisville Basketball Camp Counselor 2009
As a camp counselor I was responsible of a group of 15 children ages 7-12. Responsibilities included engaging the
children in craft activities, instructing the children in basketball skills clinics, and guiding the children through team
building educational programs.
Christian Academy Inner City Underprivileged Basketball Camp 2009 and 2010
As an instructor and camp counselor, I taught a basketball skills clinic to children ages 10-12.
Union College Repair Affair 2010
As a member of a University organized program designed to aid in the restructuring of local poverty stricken community
members, I assisted in the rebuilding process at homes in the area that had been damaged by a tornado.
Union College Basketball Camp Summer of 2010-2012
As a camp counselor, I was required to register high school basketball teams to compete in tournament style play. I
organized, monitored and refereed multiple basketball games a day. I was also responsible for booking hotels and
recommending restaurant establishments to each team.
Organic Farming Internship May 2013-August 2013
3. In 2013 I was awarded a STEM Grant towards my studying of Ecology and Botany at Musick Mountain Farm in
Williamsburg, Kentucky. During my internship I observed the processes of organic farming, sustainable agriculture and
sustainable living. Throughout the 3 month duration of my internship, I lived on the farm land and perfected my primitive
back country living skills. My campsite was a little piece of paradise in the Appalachian mountains. I journaled the daily
living challenges and documented the skills I was taught in the practice of Organic Vegetable farming. At the
commencement of my internship I wrote a research paper entitled Genetically modified crops and their effect on the
environment which combined my hands on experience with my research in botany and ecology.
Member of Appalachian Wilderness Club Union College 2010-2014
As a member of the historic Appalachian Wilderness club I had the privilege of participating in a plethora of Recreational
Activities and Workshops taught by the head of the Union College Recreation Management Department. Activities
included caving in the Appalachian Mountains, backpacking, primitive back-country camping, rafting, kayaking and
canoing. During outings, the instructor taught back country first aid, team building strategies and recreational
leadership philosophies. I was given the opportunity to plan, and lead several back country expeditions.
Red Bud Festival Cycling Race Spring of 2012 and 2013
As a volunteer at the Redbud cycling race, I registered and explained the the course route, rules and regulations.
United States Mountain Bike Nationals, Angel Fire, New Mexico 2013
After owning a mountain bike for a mere 6 months I joined the Union College Cycling Team. I was privileged to raced in
over 50 Mountain Bike Cross-Country, Down Hill and Slalom races in the South-Eastern United States. My junior Year of
college I qualified for the USA Cycling Mountain Bike Nationals in Womens Dual Slalom and Down Hill Racing and
placed in the top ten of both categories.
