International Jazz Day was
proclaimed by the UNESCO general
conference in November 2011. the
celebration of this day aims to sensitize
the general public about the virtues of
jazz music as an educational tool and
as an engine for peace, unity, dialogue
and the reinforcement of cooperation
between peoples.
4. It’s celebrated around the world with concerts and
local activities. It brings together communities,
schools, artists, academic historians, and jazz fans
from around the world to celebrate and learn about the
art of jazz, its roots, its future, and its impact.
Governments, educational institutions and civil society
involved in promoting jazz take this opportunity to
spread the idea that jazz isn’t only a style of music, but
also contributes to building more inclusive societies.
5. This important international art form breaks down barriers and
creates opportunities for mutual understanding and tolerance, is a
form of freedom of expression, symbolizes unity and peace, reduces
tensions between individuals, groups and communities, fosters
equality. gender, reinforces the role of youth in social change,
promotes artistic innovation, improvisation and the integration of
traditional music into modern musical forms, stimulates intercultural
dialogue and facilitates the integration of marginalized youth.
6. So to conclude, International Jazz Day has been a
huge success in the last ten years. It has become
the largest annual jazz celebration in the world. It’s
a global movement, celebrated annually by people
from all continents, through educational programs,
presentations, community outreach, and media
coverage.
