Smarter Partners:
The IBM Extended Enterprise Learning Program*

Introduction: The IBM Blue Harmony Business Partner and End User Customer Training is more
than just a training program. It is an elaborate solution for the enablement of our partners and
customers who will embrace and use our new systems. This paper will present the end-to-end
change management and training solution, which is being implemented via a learning mashup
technique over the IBM Wiki API.
The Actual Idea: For external training, our audience primarily comprises IBM Business Partners and
Enterprise End-Users, spread across the world. The challenge lies in the fact that they are huge in
number, spanning multiple geographies (current wave includes Brazil, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan,
AP, UK, Ireland, USA, Germany), working in channel sales capacities, having limited or no time for
training. Also these are people who have limited access to the IBM network.
The Main Content: Our learning solution is a result of numerous Client and SME interviews, and
audience analysis, over a period of one year. The main features have been shown in the next slide.
Objective: Training external stakeholders is a very crucial activity in any large enterprise
transformation endeavor. This paper will aim to share methodologies and documentation that can
be of help on similar project scenarios.
*An Extended Enterprise Learning Program is one that is specifically designed for an audience other than internal employees. The
extended enterprise refers to the “supply or value chain” of an organization that encompasses the community of partners,
suppliers, resellers, customers, and other outsourced functions.
