Student Paper Contest (SPC’15)

What is SPC?
– The Student Paper Contest is being held by IEEE R8
for more than 45 years.
– It’s a great opportunity for Students to engage in
Technical/Scientific research
Who can apply?
– Student or graduate student members who have not
yet started their PhD can apply
– Within a maximum of 12 months after graduation
– Presented work must not be published before.

Student Paper Contest (SPC’15)

What is the role of the student branch
officers?
– A Student Branch may submit one paper per every 100
Student Branch IEEE members, with a maximum of three
papers per SB.
– Hence, SBs need to organize local contests to nominate only
one paper per 100 students.
– Additionally, organizing technical and scientific research
workshops and trainings is the main role of the SB

Student Paper Contest (SPC’15)

How should students apply?
– After SB is done with the local contest, nomination for one
paper should be announced
– SB Counselor will provide a document certifying that local
contest has been conducted, giving the IEEE membership
number(s) of the author(s), and stating during which year(s)
after high school the work has been performed.
– Full paper should be sent to r8sac@ieee.org
– The deadline is December 1, 2015
– Paper and oral presentation should be conducted in English

Student Paper Contest (SPC’15)

What are the prizes?
– 5 finalists will be invited to present their papers during
the MELECON 2016 conference, April 2016, in
Limassol, Cyprus.
– 3 winners will get prizes (2015 prizes were 800, 500
and 200 US Dollars).
– The papers will be published within MELECON 2016
Conference Proceedings and included in IEEE Xplore
Digital Library.
– The nominating Student Branches will also get prizes!
(250 USD).
