2. Introduction:-
I trained in Orange training center specifically in the Transmission department (
Back Bone Transmission and operations team) which both of them are responsible
for fixing any problem that acquires to the network or the fiber optics cables, this
team operates all around Jordan and many other countries such as Germany,
France, Palestine etc.
Training Summary:-
Week no. Main tasks
Week 1 First week was an Introduction about the department work and I
have learnt about the old and the current technologies used in the
company such as the (PDH ,SDH ,DWDM) in general such as the
speeds, distances and cables types.
Week 2 After getting more knowledge about the SDH and the DWDM
technologies the engineer started showing me practically how to
create an SDH network and how to fix it’s problem using Go
Global software and I helped in fixing a very major problem that
happened where more than 60 mobile sites went down at once due
to a fiber cut in a common cable.
Week 3 And then after finishing the SDH practical work, I started with the
DWDM work on Alcatel OMS 1350 software, I learnt how to
create a loop on the path between two towns either facility loop
back or a terminal loop back, how to create paths and trails for a
Circuit as well.
Week 4 In this week we went to a field visit (site visit) in Marj Al Hamam
we saw the SDH and the analyzer we connected the cards and the
shelfs as we were given the information from the engineers. Also
the second visit we saw the DWDM and routers we also connected
the shelf and the slots according to the points we were given.

3. Week 5 In this week we continued working on the DWDM network but this
time we created paths and trails for a 1G network (11DPM12) on
the OMS 1350 software (Alcatel). Also I monitored some Global
alarms and learnt the differences between each alarm.
Week 6 + 7 In those two weeks I was asked to read a book about fiber optics
and how to install them. Also they gave me some documents to
read more about Alcatel technologies and Huwawi technologies.
I went for one day to the 4G department and they also gave me
small introduction and a book to read about the GSM module.
In addition to the typical work.
Week 8 The last week was a busy week for the company as they were
having major problems and meetings so the engineer couldn’t be
able to stay with me for a long time sometimes, he just told me in
general that there’s a software for Huwawi called U2000.
Conclusion:-
I had a pleasant experience by having new knowledge in creating networks, fibers,
GSM etc, and gained a very important skill which is how to deal with the
professional environment, and got to have a sneak peek of what a
Telecommunications Engineer do in his/her profession.
