God has given a method to test whether or not he is divine. In this short document an examination of the words of men inspired by God to write is used to show forth the test that God has given and also the claims He presents.

The test of divinity: God's Test of Divinity
1. Do you know God gave a test for divinity?
Isaiah 41:21-23 Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the
King of Jacob. Let them bring them forth, and shew us what shall happen: let them shew the
former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or
declare us things for to come. Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that
ye are gods.
God’s given test for whether divinity is present is prophecy. The ability to tell things that are to
come in the future.
Isaiah 42:9 Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they
spring forth I tell you of them.
Isaiah 43:9-11 Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the people be assembled: who
among them can declare this, and shew us former things? let them bring forth their witnesses,
that they may be justified: or let them hear, and say, It is truth. Ye are my witnesses, saith the
LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand
that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am
the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.
Here God makes it plain
Isaiah 46:8-11 Remember this, and shew yourselves men: bring it again to mind, O ye
transgressors. Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am
God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the
things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:
Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executeth my counsel from a far country: yea,
I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it.
Isaiah 14:24 The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to
pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand:
Did Jesus also make such a test?
John 14:29 And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye
might believe.
John 13:19 Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I am
he.
The truth is clearly revealed that if we do not teach or talk about prophecy we are in fact
removing the one thing that God says we ought to use as a test of Faith
2. Deuteronomy 18:21-22 And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the
LORD hath not spoken? When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow
not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath
spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.
Daniel 2:29 As for thee, O king, thy thoughts came into thy mind upon thy bed, what should
come to pass hereafter: and he that revealeth secrets maketh known to thee what shall come to
pass.
Let the heathen wise men reveal the truth about who is this person who is a revealer of secrets
Daniel 2:11 And it is a rare thing that the king requireth, and there is none other that can shew it
before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.
Finally suppose there comes a prophet who gives future prediction yet does not refer you to a
true worship of God?
Deuteronomy 13:1-5 If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee
a sign or a wonder, And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee,
saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them; Thou shalt
not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God
proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your
soul. Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and
obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him. And that prophet, or that dreamer of
dreams, shall be put to death; because he hath spoken to turn you away from the LORD your
God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of
bondage, to thrust thee out of the way which the LORD thy God commanded thee to walk in. So
shalt thou put the evil away from the midst of thee.
Isaiah 8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is
because there is no light in them. (Testimony here becomes important)
Revelation 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the
remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus
Christ.
Revelation 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I
am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the
testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
Revelation 22:9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy
brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.
Is there any authority above this test?
3. Matthew 17:5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a
voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye
him. (This event on the mount of transfiguration would seem to be the most solemn reassurance
that Jesus is the Son of God)
Peter speaking after the resurrection of Christ shocks our senses when speaking of the life of
Christ by saying:
2 Peter 1:16-17 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto
you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. For he
received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the
excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. And this voice which came
from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.
So far it seems Peter has reassured the brethren that he is sure Jesus is the Sent of God because
of the manifestation on the mount of transfiguration.
2 Peter 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy (You mean there is something surer
than the manifestation and the voice of God speaking from the cloud? That is exactly what Peter,
under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit reveals to us)
2 Peter 1:19-21 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take
heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your
hearts: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For
the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were
moved by the Holy Ghost.
Even the greatest manifestation is not proof of prophetic truth. Prophecy is confirmed by
confirmed prophetic utterance otherwise it is not safe to believe. That which contradicts that
which is already revealed must be rejected as false and not of God.
Galatians 1:8-9 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than
that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now
again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be
accursed.
1 Corinthians 14:1 Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy
