6. Musicians
Hutsuls are often good musicians. They
play different musical instruments, for
instance: cymbals, violins and drums.
7. Trembita
Hutsuls also play trembita, which is an
alpine horn made of wood. It is common
among Ukrainian Highlanders called
Hutsuls. It was used to announce important
events. The tube is made from a long
straight piece of pine or spruce (preferably
one that has been struck by lightning) which
is split in two parts in order to carve out the
core. The halves are once joined again
together and than wrapped in birch bark. It
is also used by shepherds for signaling and
communication in the forested mountains
and for guiding sheep and dogs.
8. Modern Use
Today trembita is often used in Ukrainian
ethnographic ensembles and as an
episodic instrument in the Ukrainian folk
orchestra
Trembita is also used by Ukrainian band
