Lyophobic colloids;
These are thermodynamically unstable & tends to form aggregates .
•DLVO Theory (Derjaguin, landau, Verway, Overbeek Theory);
according to this theory , the distance between two dispersed particles
mainly influences particle-particle interactions . Using this theory , one
can approximately determine the amount of electrolyte required to
precipitate or stabilised a colloids.
