Steelcare Plant 19 located in Hamilton, Ontario is a prime example of a Green Age designed and
lEED certified facility. With 80,000 square feet of storage space and 4.3 million tons per year
throughput capacity, it can be run and managed by a single operator! It was the first and only
industrial building in Canada to be awarded a lEED Canada Gold Achievement, meeting stringent
lEED sustainability requirements in water efficiency, energy efficiency, materials selection and
indoor environmental quality. For example, compared to a conventional building of the same size
that does not meet lEED certification, Steelcare Plant 19 now requires 56% less energy and
32% less water.
