infant”But soya milk subsitute is needed is case
occurance of-
Inborn Error Disease LACTOSE
INTOLERANCE-Milk contain lactose can not
be digested by the infant due to deficiency of
Lactose enzyme or which is known as
hypolactasia . Lactose an enzyme that
catalyzes the reaction :
LACTOSE HYDROLISIS GLUCOSE
+GALACTOSE
in our their digestive system. For this genatical
problem insufficient level of lactose in lining
of duodenum.
The symptoms can be seen after 1 week of 2

ii. Abdominal bloating, iii.osmotic diarrohea,
iv.nasuea, v.borborygim etc.

4. About Soya Milk
 Since 25-220 A.D it is in the kitchen.
 First in China for making tofu soya milk was
extracted from soyabeans.
 Now a days powder milk is available but it
can make in home easily by automatic
soymilk maker also called soy milk machine.
 But powder milk is easier to store & self life is
more.
 Soya milk is fortified with calcium compare to
the cow’s milk,soya milk naturally contain 200
mg/L, after fortification it’s become 1200
mg/L.
 Some time many flavor is added like
pinnaple,chocolate,mango,melon etc. 4

5. Preparation of soya milk
1. For 1 liter milk whole soyabean is needed
125gm.
2. Soaking soyabeans about 10-16 hours,then
clean for dehusking. To inactive protein
inhibitor soaking over night is helpful.
3. Heating soyabeans to destroyed the enzyme
Lipoxygenase responsible for the off flavor &
also protein inhibitor can inactive.
4. Then blending is requards in water sliving
this throuth a cloth and isolate the milk &
insoluble portion –okara.
5. The milk is evaporated then spray died.
some times homogenizations is done. In home made
soya milk 5-10mins boiling it can be kept 3days in 5

8. Some good things about soya
milk
 Soya milk is lactose free can digestible
easily to lactose intolerance infants.
 Soya milk contains good quantitative &
qualitative protein than human or cow’s
milk.
 Soy milk contain 0.0mg of cholesterol & low
in saturated fat.
 It contain isoflavones as phytochamicals
which helps to prevent carcinogenic cells &
absorpsion of calcium.
 Some times soy /soya milk enriching with
calcium that helps increase calcium level.
 Soy milk contain much amount of iron than

 Soya milk contain phytate present in outer
portion of seeds that binds with mineral-salts &
reduce their absorption of those minerals
Fe,Se,Cu,Mg,P etc.
 Trypsin inhibitors are found in plentiful
amounts in soybeans that inhibit digestion and
absorption of protein. They are large in size
and require application of high heat 800C for
appreciable periods of time to neutralize.
 Isoflavones act as anti-thyroid,goitrogenic
substance which inhibits thyroid preoxidase
essencial for production of thyroid hormone.

10. Conclusion
 Soya milk easily available, needed to give
infants who has intolerance only.
 Soya milk contain concentrate amounts of
protein then human milk may cause
indigestion so formula should be diluted
properly.
 Proper processing should be done to
remove protein inhibitor, phytate.
 Soya milk should stored properly because
due to oxidation odder or microbial
contamination may occur.
