Background : -
Education done from Stanford Graduate School of Business, Institute of Chemical
Technology.
Joined Reliance Industries in 1981. Became Chairman and Managing director in 2002.
Highest share holder in Reliance Industries i.e. 44.7%.
• Mrs. Nita M. Ambani, Non-Executive, Non Independent Director : -
Background:-
Nita Ambani is a promoter and holds 33,98,146 shares of the company in her name as on 31
March 2014.
Nita played a key role in RIL's decision in 2010 to buy 14.8% in East India Hotels, She is also on
the board of EIH Limited.
Nita Ambani is also the president of Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research
Centre, a world-class hospital.
3. • Hital R. Meswani , Executive Director : -
Background :-
A chemical engineer from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Engineering and Applied
Sciences and an alumnus of Wharton Business School, He joined Reliance in 1990.
He leads the petroleum refining, manufacturing, and research & technology activities of the
organization. He oversees the refinery and all other manufacturing units.
He has been on its board since 1995. He owns 212,000 RIL shares.
• Nikhil R. Meswani , Executive Director : -
Background :-
A chemical engineer from the University Institute of Chemical Technology (UICT) Mumbai,
he joined Reliance in 1986.
He is primarily responsible for petrochemicals and taking RIL to the top 10 in this sector
globally.
He has been on its board since 1988. He holds about 279,000 shares in RIL.
4. • P M S Prasad, Executive Director : -
Background : -
He has held various posts in the petrochemicals, refining and marketing, exploration and
production and fibres businesses of the company.
A member of the Board of Governors of the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies.
He holds 17,433 equity shares in the company but does not own any derivatives of the shares.
• P K Kapil, Executive Director :-
Background : -
He joined Reliance in 1996 and led the commissioning and starting-up of the Jamnagar
complex.
In 2005, under his leadership, the Jamnagar refinery became the first Asian refinery to be
declared the 'Best Refinery in the World', at the World Refining & Fuel Conference, San
Francisco, USA.
He also led the commissioning of the manufacturing operations in the Special Economic Zone
(SEZ) at Jamnagar.
A true oil industry veteran, his expertise ranges from technical services to operations and from
energy optimisation to debottlenecking.
In recognition of his achievements, the Chemtech Foundation conferred on him the
‘Outstanding Achievement Award for Oil Refining’ in 2008.
5. • R.A. Mashelkar, Adil Zainulbhai, Mansingh L. Bhakta, Dipak C. Jain, Dharam Vir Kapur,
Yogendra P. Trivedi, Ashok Misra, Raminder S. Gujral (Independent Directors) : -
Background : -
R.A. Mashelkar is an eminent scientist and champion of the innovation movement in India, he is the Chairman of
Reliance Innovation Council. He is a member of National Innovation Council and a member of the Scientific
Advisory Council to the Prime Minister. The President of India bestowed three of India’s highest civilian awards on
RA Mashelkar – the Padma Shri in 1991, the Padma Bhushan in 2000, and the Padma Vibhushan in 2014.
Adil Zainulbhai is one of the world’s foremost consultants, he is a mechanical engineering graduate from IIT and
holds an MBA from Harvard.
Mansingh L. Bhatka, An advocate par excellence. A senior partner in M/s. Kanga & Company, he is an expert in
corporate law, taxation and banking. He is a legal advisor to leading foreign and Indian companies and banks.
Dipak C. Jain, One of the world’s top educationalists, he is a former Dean of Kellogg School of Management and
INSEAD.
Dharam Vir Kapur, A technology, industrial development and project implementation expert, he has a long and
illustrious career in the Indian government.
Yogendra P. Trivedi, He is an expert in the fields of economics, politics, education, sports, and social and
professional services.
Ashok Misra, An IIT Director ,was the driving force behind its transformation into a leading research and
development institute. A chemical engineer and alumnus of IIT Kanpur Ph.D. in Polymer Science and Engineering
from the University of Massachusetts.
Raminder S. Gujral, He joined the Indian Administrative Services from the Haryana Cadre in 1976 and retired
from the post of Finance Secretary for the Government of India in 2013.
