To Whom it May Concern:
I am writing this letter in support of Emily McLaws’ application for a teaching position at your
institution. I have known Emily since August of 2016. I highly recommend you hire her as an
instructor. I believe she will make an excellent teacher.
I had the opportunity to observe Emily’s student teaching experience in the fall of 2016 at
Madison High School. Emily taught English where she exhibited extensive knowledge and
compassion for her subject. She has a great love of English and a desire for her students to
understand and succeed. This resulted in a number of positive experiences between her and
the students.
Emily communicates the importance of learning as she teaches and makes real world
connections for her students. She works hard to understand her students inside and outside the
classroom which creates a friendly and respectful environment for learning. Emily manages her
classroom in a positive way as she subtly and quietly manages student behavior.
Already an effective teacher, I believe that Emily will continue to improve. Throughout the
semester, I noted that her performance as a teacher improved with each observation. If there
was an area that needed improvement, she would address the concerns and make the
necessary changes in the classroom.
I believe that Emily will be an asset to your organization. She will add to the strength of your
faculty. She will be an excellent representative of your school and will have a positive influence
on the lives of her students. I give Emily my highest recommendation.
Please feel free to contact me at any time to discuss this letter.
Thank you for your consideration.
