1. What It Means To
Think Globally

2. I believe to think globally is to truly shed the worldview of us vs
them and shape it into an understanding of the people and
countries around us. This understanding being not as an enemy or
other but instead as people and cultures that live and exist for the
same reason as ours. By doing so you can think globally not from a
perspective of "I respect your way of life but my way of life is
better" but instead as "we all live our lives in different ways and
any the existing assumptions that I've been nurtured into aren't
constructive to our mutual understanding and coexistion".

4. Africa

Covid-19 outbreak, which

5. Spain
Because deportations were
impossible due to border
restrictions, the Interior Ministry
released all detainees
imprisoned in closed
immigration detention centers
on the Spanish mainland
between March and May. The
government stated in
September that detention
centers will reopen.
According to the UN refugee
agency UNHCR, at least 20,499
people had arrived irregularly
by water to Spain's coastline,
islands, and the country's
enclaves in Morocco, Ceuta and
Melilla, by mid-October, while
1,399 people had landed by
land.

Since 2006, enforced disappearances by
security forces have been a widespread
problem. Criminal organizations have also
been responsible for many disappearances.
The government reported more than
75,000 people disappeared, as of
November 2020—the vast majority from
2006 onwards.

7. The Middle
East
Afghanistan
The Taliban were responsible for 45 percent of
attacks that resulted in civilian deaths and
injuries in the first nine months of 2020.
Women and children accounted for almost
44% of all civilian deaths. According to the
United Nations Assistance Mission in
Afghanistan (UNAMA). Pro-government forces
accounted about 27% of the total. The Islamic
State of Khorasan Province has launched a
series of attacks (ISKP).

8. Russia
Mass protests have been taking
place after the dismissal and
arrest of Khabarovsk’s governor.
Authorities did not attempt to
disperse the protests at first,
though police apprehended some
protesters, as well as their
sympathizers in other cities, on
occasion, and courts fined or
sentenced them to short-term
detention on grounds of violating
public assembly restrictions.
In October, however, nearly
20 nonviolent
demonstrators were beaten
and arbitrarily imprisoned
by police. One is accused of
taking part in unofficial but
peaceful protests. At least
three other people are being
investigated for alleged low-
grade police violence. For
participating in a
"unsanctioned meeting,"
other demonstrators were
penalized with
administrative violations.

9. Japan
To limit the spread of
Covid-19, the Prime
Minister requested that
schools across the
country close beginning
in March, putting an end
to in-person classroom
learning for almost 13
million students for two
to three months.
Only 5% of public schools
provided live, interactive
online education with
teachers when the
schools closed,
according to the Ministry
of Education, Culture,
Sports, Science and
Technology (MEXT),
forcing many youngsters
to learn at home using
textbooks and other
paper materials.

10. England
There has been no accountability in
the three years since the Grenfell
Tower disaster in London, which killed
71 people. The second phase of a
public inquiry into the fire that
damaged a predominantly social
housing apartment tower began in
September. The initial set of
suggestions have yet to be
implemented by the government
alongside finding a solution for owners
of private apartments in buildings with
similar dangerous cladding.
The Attorney General decided in February to
provide immunity from potential prosecution to a
number of building contractors and architects who
were concerned about self-incrimination, angering
fire survivors and family.
