Van Bulck
History
Van Bulck Belgian organic craft beers were created in
2013 by Denis Renty, ex-chef and sommelier with more
than 20 years experience in the food and drink industry.
The name Van Bulck is in reference to his mother’s
maiden name.
His mother, who is also a renowned chef, was born and
raised in a small town called Watou in Flanders which is
known across the globe for growing some of the best
hops. As a child she grew up and played in her uncle’s
family brewery where her passion for craft beer was
born. Today she still runs the family hotel/restaurant
where she only works with organic products.

The Brewing History
The range of beers have been developed by Denis Renty
in partnership with a brewery that has been brewing
beers for seven generations. The brewery, which is in
Flanders in Belgium has been brewing beers since 1830.
Van Bulck’s beers are based on an old family recipe
which have been adapted to suit the palate of today.
The brewery, has undergone signifcant investment over
the years to improve the quality of the beer as well as
increasing the brewing capacity to cope with demand
and to meet the strict requirements of brewing organic
beers

In 2001, further investment took place at the
brewery in order to keep on improving the
beer quality.
Another asset worth mentioning: our brewer
was awarded by the 'Fédération des
études et recherches dans l'industrie
de fermentation' for his scientific study
‘The return of the hopping during the
cooking of the wort and the loss of bitter
agents during the further production
process’.

The brewing process for our Gluten
free beer is something only few
brewers master. We use gluten poor
and organic barley malt. This results
in a a light and balanced flavour that
accompanies a wide variety of
dishes. This also taps into the trend
of sommeliers are creating a beer list
to complement their wine list.
What makes Van Bulck beer so different and unique

Gluten free organic lager 330 ml
The barley malt from our gluten free lager comes
to us organic and gluten poor. Thanks to the
special method of brewing, it becomes gluten free!
 Ingredients: Water, Barley malt,
Hop, Yeast
 4.5% alcohol = 1.5 units
 24 units per case
 64 cases per pallet
 Available in 20 litre barrels
 Shelf life 24 months after production

On the palate: As this is a light and very clean clear beer with a
touch of hoppy aftertaste, it is ideal to drink with shellfish such as
oysters, clams, crab, mussels, ... Or just to enjoy with friends on a
sunny afternoon!
Drinking Experience: A fresh and light first impression where
you can taste the barley and hops with a light honey and walnut
aftertaste.
Food Pairing Suggestions
• Shellfish
• Oysters

• Salads
• Soft cheeses such as goat cheese
Or just to enjoy it as a appetitive with
friends on a sunny afternoon.

 Unfiltered and fermented in the bottle
 A unique combination of three different grains
 Ingredients: water, barley, wheat, spelt, hop, yeast
 4.6% alcohol = 1.5 units

Tasting Notes
In the nose: There is a very pronounced fresh smell of green
fruits such as Granny Schmidt apple along with hints of liquorice
sweets and dried apricots.
Drinking Experience:A bittersweet balance with an aftertaste
delivered by the spelt and wheat. It is very smooth which is ideal to
drink with white meat and grilled fish served with light
Mediterranean sauce. Also ideal with refreshing desserts such as
lemon cake, panna cotta with an apricot coulis.

 Made with seven different fruits: cherries,
pomegranate, raspberries, blueberries,
strawberries, grapefruit, blackberries
 Ingredients: water, barley malt, hop, fruits,
yeast, juices
 4.7 % alcohol = 1.6 units
 Available 20 litre barrels

Tasting Notes
In the nose: An explosion of red fruits which takes you back to
the old days of grandmother’s fresh fruit marmalade.
Drinking Experience: Although there is a very fruity taste of
strawberries, raspberries and cherries, it is not as sweet as you
imagine. A perfect accompaniment to game such as venison. The
beer would also work well with any red fruit dessert as well as
standing up to blue cheeses and some French heavier cheeses.
