What this means is that we can identify similarities in the interests of two chosen groups as well as find what interests differentiate them from each other.

We can compare the affinities of the individuals who have contributed to this
Democratic Alliance conversation to the affinities of a different group of people.
What this means is that we can compare how important different interest are to
a certain group of people in comparison to how important those interests are to
a different group.
We have compared the affinities of the individuals partaking in the
conversation about the Democratic Alliance and compared them firstly to
South Africans in general - how do they compare to the rest of their
countrymen.
We have done similar studies to this one on the ANC as well as the EFF. We
have compared the affinities of the individuals partaking in the total DA
conversation to those of the individuals partaking in the ANC conversation; as
well as to those partaking in the EFF conversation.
3. Interests: DA compared to Twitter South Africa
Comparison of an interest's popularity amongst authors in the
overall DA conversation relative to the authors in the total
South African conversation.
Authors in the DA conversation are 16 times more likely than
authors in the total South African conversation to be interested
in Democracy and 11 times more likely to be interested in
Political Parties. They are also six as likely to be interested in
the Middle East and 4 times more likely in Israel, Law
and Crime.
In contrast, they are one fifteenth as likely to be interested in
One Direction than their counterparts in the total South
African conversation. They are one third as likely to be
interested in Miley Cyrus, Soundcloud, Paparazzi and Nick
Cannon than their counterparts in the total South African
conversation.
