It outlines 5 cardinal safety rules employees and contractors must follow, including not tampering with safety devices, using unauthorized equipment, horseplay, bringing weapons to work, entering restricted areas without permission, and failing to use provided safety equipment or follow safety standards.
2. Safety Cardinal Rules
Employees and Contractors will not
knowingly or recklessly:
tamper with, ignore or fail to use any safety/lockout
device or tamper with any emergency or safety
signage/equipment; or
use any vehicle or equipment unless authorised to
operate it, or use it for an unauthorised purpose; or
participate in horseplay, skylarking or practical
jokes;
in a manner which causes, or has the potential to
cause, serious injury to anyone or damage to
property; and will not under any circumstances;
bring a weapon (other than necessary tool of trade
for work) into any work environment; or
enter any identified restricted access area without
appropriate authoirsation; or
ride on a vehicle without using a purpose
designated seat (’No seat No ride’)
Employees will not under any circumstances fail to
use provided safety equipment, such as vehicle seat
belts, protective clothing or follow safety
standards/processes
