energywatch
energywatch is a program used to help minimize energy cost through utility and data
management, to measure and verify utility expense, to prepare reports, including
sustainability reporting.
• This is the program that accumulates all the energy bills which can be accessed with
the click of a button. It measures and verifies how much your bill should be for each
month.
• Used for the management side
• Key features:
» Accumulation and inventory of all utility costs
» There is a pdf for every invoice.

» Energy Plant analysis (continuous oversight of chilled water production and distribution
performance)
• Key Features:
» They offer metering capability that helps optimize energy usage and maximizes utility cost
recoupment for the owner
» They monitor in real time.
• Local control not from cloud.
» Tenant portal
• If tenants request, they have access of all info at their fingertips.
• Brookfield has access to the entire operation in terms of energy consumption and sub-
metering packages.

Case Study – One New York Plaza
» Tri-fuel plant includes electric, gas and steam driven chillers with river water cooling
» Recent environmental constraints limited the amount of river water used for cooling
» Only the electric chillers were connected to the cooling towers
» Analytics uncovered an opportunity for savings if we connected the gas driven chillers to the
water towers
» Reduced the electrical demand of the building from ~5,600kW to less than ~4,000kW.
Electrical demand charges run as much as $30 per kW per month
» If the building stayed with the electric chillers as their primary source of cooling, they
would’ve had to use it during peak demand periods.
