Research Projects
Design of a olfactory system for identification and classification of odor using Artificial Intelligence
-Mentored by Dr. Avinash Keskar, Department of Electronics, VNIT Nagpur July’14-Ongoing
In this project, we try to recognize a set of odor and then classify them into different categories. Also we are trying to
make the system self adaptive and hence we are using neural network techniques to train it for certain odors and
then making the system self capable of identifying certain other odor. This project is of crucial importance in many
applications such as Food industry, Environmental pollution checking, Mining areas to alarm humans of hazardous
gases etc .
Analysis of current Prediction techniques and quad pixel approximations of H.264 on GPU
-Mentored by Dr. Avinash Keskar, Department of Electronics, VNIT Nagpur Feb'15-Ongoing
In this project we are trying to implement the different prediction techniques of I,B and P frames and also do half
pixel and quad pixel approximations of H.264 on GPU using Cuda Framework. It is expected to be completed till
May' 15.
Analysis of speed variations on different morphological and segmentation operations on GPU using CUDA,
Opencl, OpenAcc
-Mentored by Dr. Avinash Keskar, Department of Electronics, VNIT Nagpur Dec'14-Jan'15
In this project we had tried to implement different morphological and segmentation techniques On GPU for different
resolution of images ranging from 360x240 to FULL HD(1920x1080) and panoramic(2550x1440). We had tried the
same techniques with CUDA, Opencl and OpenAcc and tried to compare the speeds on different platform for
different resolutions.
Identification and tracking of moving objects in high resolution videos using CUDA framework
-Mentored by Dr. Avinash Keskar, Department of Electronics, VNIT Nagpur Jan’14-Jan’15
In this project we had done identification and subsequently tracking of objects in videos On GPU using CUDA. Also
we implemented our algorithm on high resolution on videos also. In our algorithm we implemented various parallel
techniques of adaptive Background making, Dynamic threshold, morphological operations like opening and closing
and Connected Component Labelling(CCL) for estimating the movement of objects in video. This project has many
applications in area like traffic surveillance, monitoring of areas like temples and shopping malls, tracking the path of
satellites etc.
CUDA Coding Challenge 2014
-By Nvidia Aug'14-Oct'14
I participated in this Cuda challenge which was organised by Nvidia India. It was organised as a part of HIPC 2014.
We were given a problem statement and we had to submit the solution online. We successfully completed the
challenge and submitted the code with zero error.
Safety Radar for Mining Areas
- Mentored by A.S. Gandhi, Department of Electronics, VNIT Nagpur July’13-Jan'14
This was a project that we made for Analog India Contest 2014 by Texas Instruments India. We designed a safety
radar which was used to alarm the driver of any activity in the swing of the arms of excavators and trucks. In mining
areas, the height of the trucks and excavators is quite high which makes the line of sight of the drivers very short.
Hence many accidents happen when humans or animals come in the swing of the arms. Hence to avoid such
accidents we made a radar which worked on ISM band frequency and based on the motion of the objects in the
range of arm, we can alarm the driver about the motion. We cleared two rounds in the competition. It not only have
applications in the mining areas but also in areas where the line of sight of the driver is less and we want to avoid
any accidents.
Design of an attendance and marking system using 8085 microprocessor
-Mentored by Dr. Avinash Keskar, Department of Electronics, VNIT Nagpur May’13-Jun’13
In this project we designed a hardware system using 8085 microprocessor for making attendance of the students.
We wrote an assembly language code on 8085 microprocessor based Anshuman kit for this project. We had to
develop a system where the user have to enter the roll no and year no and then he can mark his attendance. We
also had to make the provisions of not allowing other persons to enrol for someone else. We also had to provide the
provisions where the student should be able to see his marks of all his subjects based on his identification only. I
was a key member of the team and developed most of the code in the project.
Curricular Projects
Implementation and Analysis of Connected Component Labelling in videos
-Mentored by V.R. Satpute, Department of Electronics, VNIT Nagpur Jul’14-Nov’14
In this project we had implemented two different techniques of CCL on images and video in MATLAB. We had done
Mask based method and 8 direction minimum label method of CCL. We also analysed the speed variation of those
two techniques and made a comparative graphs.
Implementation of Transceiver system on FPGA using VHDL
-Mentored by P.H.Ghare, Department of Electronics, VNIT Nagpur Jan’14-Apr’14
This project was undertaken as a part of the course on Hardware Description Languages (ECL401). I wrote a VHDL
code for the transceiver system. The code was written using the Quartus development environment. The code was
written to a FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Arrays) provided by Altera Corporation-Cyclone III.
Simulation of Frequency to Voltage Converter Using Ngspice
-Mentored by Dr. R.M.Patrikar, Centre of VLSI and Nanotechnology, VNIT Nagpur Jul’13-Nov’13
This project was undertaken as a part of Device Modelling course (ECL302). I designed the whole circuit of
Frequency to Voltage Converter on Ngspice. Individual blocks were created using analog components in Spice and
they were later cascaded together. Frequency analysis and time-domain analysis at intermediate stages and at the
final output stage was performed.
