Recommendation for Rahul Vats
During the several years Rahul served FoodChain’s IT needs, he was our lifeline and key support
in maintaining an existing, unreliable Supply Chain Compliance database system developed by
an outside party during a time of explosive growth. FoodChain services the natural channel food
industry in its capacity as technical administrator of the Non-GMO Project’s product verification
program (www.nongmoproject.org). In that role, FoodChain evaluates all products, ingredients
and facilities for compliance with the Non-GMO Project Standard. The work requires our IT
system to incorporate a complex set of business rules and supply chain mapping capabilities
across multiple customer users and administrators.
Rahul was the primary trouble shooter and solutions provider for our third party unreliable
database. He made himself available to FoodChain at any time of day or night. Rahul always
responded with a helpful and responsive attitude, never minding that at times he had to work
all night or all weekend to stabilize our system. Without his help our business could not have
survived.
In June, 2012, Rahul worked with his IT department to map and implement a data dump into our
newly designed IT system (several years in the making). The new system was very basic, mainly
designed to repopulate with the old system data. Once done, his attention turned towards
contributions in development of our new system.
Rahul’s principle job description was to design, develop and implement solutions using
commercial software integration and custom made applications; supervise work of 1-3
developers; play lead role in architecture, implementation, and maintenance of large ASP.Net-
based enterprise applications; conducting meetings with clients for documenting requirements,
analyzing and designing the solution. Generate reports based on the complex criteria’s and
present them in readable formats.
Below are two of the main projects that he worked on for Food Chain:
Supply Chain Compliance software for Food Chain Advisors & Non-GMO Project, USA.
• Take responsibility of existing software with known issues and convert it into software
to reliably support, corresponding stake holding organizations;
• Responsible and accountable for the coordinated management of multiple related
projects directed toward strategic business and other organizational objectives;
• Build credibility, establish rapport, and maintain communication with stakeholders at
multiple levels, mainly those internal to the stake holding organizations;
• Define and initiate projects, working closely with the Vice President of the Food Chain
Team;

• Train and mentoring testers, developers and end users;
• Present reports to other stake holders in the Global ID Team and taking part in
reviewing the opportunities for the growth of the project.

• A project which is the public library of Non-GMO Project verified products;
• Manage meetings with the CEO, and all large stakeholders involved;
• Design, develop and implement the app;
• Work on the launching and marketing aspects which involved communication with
thousands of customers
For most of us, what happens in an IT department is a mystery. Rahul humanized this work for
us, partnering in our vision and creativity involved to build our “ahead of its time” business. He
listened to what we needed, acted immediately and appropriately, always with a joyful and
devoted attitude.
Working with Rahul these past years has been a joy and I would heartily recommend him to any
