5. There were plenty of big winners at the 18th
edition of the DJ Awards, but when you con-
sider how much good music was made over
the course of the last year, you begin to realize
we all come out winners. The Meet on the Beat
theme of this year’s awards focuses on giving
attention to as many disparate styles of electro-
nic music as possible. And sure enough, plenty
of heavyweights turned up to claim their due in
their respective genres. Carl Cox took the tech-
no prize, once again at the top always giving his
best and with his party "Music is Revolution"
considered to be one of the best of 2015 in Ibi-
za this summer at Space. While Solomun won
for Deep House, also for an incredible year of
good music and the party at Pacha Ibiza, Hard-
well earned awards for both Electro/Pro-
gressive House and International DJ.Hannah
Wants was not left wanting, after winning for
Bass. And Black Coffee took home the honors
for both Breakthrough and Dance Nation of the
Year for South Africa.
There were also several Special Awards, going
to everyone from Manu Gonzalez for Ibiza DJ to
Arthur Baker for Electronic Music Pioneer.

Be yourself, do not betray your musical tastes, do not play a
track which does not represent you, just because a fashionable
DJ played it.
The time that you invest in social networks writing how great dj
are you, better use sharing listening and selecting music. Having
many likes does not make you a better DJ.
If you just want to pose for photos, have free drinks and have
a good time, you should be looking for another profession or
register now for a reality show.
Vinyl, Cd, controller, no matter the method or computer you
choose, what matters is the result you get with your music.
At least have a basic knowledge of metric and rhythmic music,
and know how many bars of input and output are often used.
Looking, wearing and copying movements of DJ's you admire,
does not improve your technique, try to create your own style.
When you're working, try to take care of your image, don't be
seen drunk or drugged, this can close doors for you.
Be modest and humble, and not self-referential and boring with
your histories. There's nothing better to show how good you are
in a live session.
Be educated and respect other DJ's with whom you share
sessions (unit), the technical team, waiters, all the staff in
general.
Work hard because you are passionate about it and not because
it is fashionable.

After a process that usually lasts between four and five
years, children have not learned to read and write,
and nobody has explained to them the grammatical rules
of a language that they already can understand and use
with significant proficiency levels. It is at that age when
to you begin reading and writing and learning based on,
firstly, the words you know.
It is necessary to follow a process similar to the acquisi-
tion of language in the field of music education, since lo-
gic and effectiveness of these are sufficient arguments to
think that there should be no substantial differences to
learning one or another language.
Opportunities that teach students to make music "by ear",
either to learn new songs, to improvise or to compose, will
remain an indispensable part of musical training.
The main features of music, specifically tone, the timbre,
intensity and rhythm, are found in spoken language. This
music prepares the ear, the voice and the body of the child
to listen, integrate and emit sounds of the language. In
addition, the music can be considered as a language "pre-
linguistic" since it has almost all the features of the oral
language except for the semantic value.

Over in the Courtyard there is a true legend at
the helm and one that needs little introduc-
tion Mr Paul van Dyk. As Cream Ibiza resident he
has Amnesia’s main room in the palm of his hand so
it’s only fitting that one of the most in-demand tran-
ce DJ’s on the circuit joins us for this farewell party.
Joining him will be Eddie Halliwell, this year’s Cream
Ibiza residents Aly and Fila, a special guest perfor-
mance from Chicane, Tall Pauland Gareth Wyn.
Over in the Annexe, the room where the story began
all those years ago are some of the legendary names
that have performed for Cream over the years, first
up is a live performance from K-Klass, and if you
caught there set on Saturday at Part 1’s Grand Fina-
le, you know you’re in for a treat. Next up is Danny
Rampling one of the original house music pioneers
who lit the ‘fuse’ back in the late 80’s. Of course,
no finale would be complete without Jon Carter, a
‘Nation’ regular who’s performed at Nation under
the ‘Cream’ and ‘Bugged Out’ banners. Completing
the Annexe line up is Phat Phil Cooper, Andy Ca-
rroll, and Cream reunion residents performing back
to back Stuart Hodson & Samuel Lamont.
The end is near folks, miss this event at your peril!
And so its with a heavy heart we say Goodbye Nation
but thank you for the good times.
Cream @ Nation
The Grand Finale
It’s the big one...the one we’ve all been waiting
for, the final send off for Cream’s beloved home
Nation. They say home is where the heart is and
judging by the atmosphere and emotions running
high on Saturday for the first of its finale parties
there has never been a truer statement. For all tho-
se who have passed through its doors over the last
23 years you are part of the success story and the
legacy it leaves behind that has made ‘Nation’ one
of the world’s most iconic club venues. So it’s only
right that the ‘old girl gets the send-off she deserves
and non-surprisingly Cream have pulled together a
suitably fitting line up that reflects the clubs history
over the last 2 decades.
First up in the Main Room is one of the scenes hottest
DJ/Producers and Blasé Boys Club label boss Duke
Dumont, the Grammy nominated artist famed for #1
hits like ‘Need You’ and ‘I Got You’ will undoubtedly
tick the box for the deep house collective. Next up is
a true dance music legend Todd Terry, responsible
for some of the biggest ‘house’ tracks over the last
30 years, watch this master at work when he takes
to the decks on Boxing night for what is set to be a
performance that will go down in history. Comple-
ting the Main Room line up are a roster of Cream’s
legendary residents including Nick Warren, X-Press
2, Paul Bleasdale, Anthony Probyn and of course no
Cream closing would be complete without the man
who started it all James Bartonwho just can’t resist
being part of this unmissable event, he will be per-
forming a very special set back to back with Cream
resident Andy Mac.
