you as well.” (Matthew 6:33)
■ We must spend time with God to develop an intimate relationship with Christ. Reading
the word is fellowship with God because theWord is God (John 1:1).

■ What is contentment?
– Oxford dictionary – “a state of happiness and satisfaction”
■ What does contentment mean as a Christian?
– To recognize God’s goodness in your life
■ What does the Bible tell us about contentment?

10. Why are we instructed to think positively?
■ Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble,
whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if
anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”
■ “For whatever is in your heart determines what you say.” (Matthew 12: 34)
■ Our words contain power; they can either be constructive or destructive (Proverbs
18:21)
11. Practical ways to develop Godly Habits
■ Focus on one area
■ Be clear and specific about the habit
you want to incorporate in your life
■ Align your thoughts and words with
the godly habit you want to produce
■ Be prayerful (God will help and
provide wisdom)
■ Focus on developing a godly habit,
not breaking a bad one
■ Find a support system
■ Give yourself time (lasting change
may not happen quickly)
■ Celebrate what God has done
12. ■ Prayer – And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be
alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. (Ephesians 6:18)
– We we pray partner with Christ in the spiritual realm, then things happen in the natural realm
■ Joy – “the joy of the LORD is your strength.” (Nehemiah 8:10)
– Living with Joy makes us strong
– Where we walk in the flesh, we are dependent on things to make us happy. Where we walk in the spirit,
we find our Joy in Christ.
■ Peace – ”You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” (Isaiah
26:3)
– Peace is a fruit of the Holy Spirit and part of your inheritance
– We must pursue peace on purpose
■ Receiving God’s forgiveness – “Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity.
I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD.” And you forgave the guilt of my sin.” (Psalm 32:5)
– Continued fellowship with God will reduce the power of sin in your life
– Christ has died for all our sins: past, present and future
– Sometimes we struggle to receive forgiveness because we have not forgiven ourselves
■ Excellence – “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human
masters” (Colossians 3:23)
– Excellence is following what God has called you to do, not perfection
■ Self control – “Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control.” (Proverbs
25:28)
– Discipline and self-control is true self-love
