Question 2

  How does your media product
represent particular social groups?
Colour Scheme
I believe that my colour scheme (red, white, black,
grey) represents the social group that I am
targeting because it is not too bright to attract pop
fans, yet not too dark to attract rock fans. Also, after
asking a member of my target audience about my
colour scheme, I gained positive results by them
saying they enjoy the colours and that it appealed
to them. I have included the results to my questions
below.
Models
My models represent my target social group
because they are wearing clothes that appeal to
them. After research that I conducted of what
models from existing hip-hop magazines wear, I
chose the clothes my models were wearing from
what was most common in the magazines I
researched. Below I have compared clothes from
one of my models with that of an existing model. As
you can see, my model is wearing a similar
                          hat to the existing model,
he also has a
                          similar facial expression
as they both
Language
The language that I have included in my double
page spread is similar to how my target social
group would talk. However I did not use completely
their language otherwise my magazine would seem
informal. But I did not want to make the language I
used too formal otherwise it may put some people
off and therefore not purchase it. When
constructing my double page spread, I was
researching existing magazines who target the
same social group to see how they worded their
text. I believe that I used similar language that
would appeal to my market.
                       - Here the text is suiting to their
