Using the same Premiere pro software, I watched the video and choose the footage I wantedfor the video.
There is a lot of waffles in some of these interviewsso after I have chosen the footage, I like I plan to cut down
the things they say to make sure I get their main pointsacross depending on the question.

Week 4
• I believe it is Week 5
• This week I wanted to spend this week and next on editingthis video and basicallygettingit to a point where it was continuously
engaging. However after I finished editingthe 3rd interviewand relistened to some of the advice from the professionals Istarted
to wonder if having10 professionals in 1 video was reallythe best I could do when Instead Icould havelike 3 professional all from
the same part of the media industrylike radio/audio in this video. My Initial idea was just to get as much footage through as
possible but I believeI am slowly comingup with better ideas forexample the first 3 professional interviewvideos I edits already
take up 10 minutes meaningeach those videos alone I haveto cut out good information thattookup 3 minutes for each. My plan
could also be to cut down on the footage further so its just straight professionals advice one after another without givingthem
much roomto talk. However since this is the first time postinga video about these professionals who might end up seeing the
video I need to be careful not to offend them or make them feel like out of the 20 minute I spent askingthem questions and taking
up their time I onlytooka few seconds of it. My audience myalso find it boringsince they wont gain the same excitingand one
one one experience that I want to try and recreate for my audience through this video so they also get the chance to feel like they
are personallygettingthe advice that will help them grow, learn and succeed in this industry.
• While most of my interviews are done in the TV studio, some havebeen done in other places which are specifc to the roles.
However the advice theygive may be helpful to my audience or even their name being in the video may drawpeople in so the
question ofwhether I keep all the best interviews or interviews with the same background for continutiyor just swap between
each of them Is the questions
• Another thingI noticed is that I could probablymix the videos around so one of the professionals make a point or tip and another
continues on that point and then we come back to that first professional later on.This would be to try and create a more
connected feel between each of the professionals
• My main goal is to make a couple different drafts and styles ofthe video and playit back to classmates and friends to get their
opinions Ialso plan to get some of the younger year student to saywhether the video was interestingfor them or how theyfelt
about it (create focus group for wider target audience)
I already made a video 5 minute video specificallyabout this interview and it managed to get some views. One of my
classmates took the videos and added B-Roll based on what he was talkingabout but I took 3 piece of information the
I felt I could use. His introduction, his quote from a famous person and his advice to students.

Week 5
• It is half term and I have decided to focus the next two weeks on getting
this video to a standard where I can show it to others and get feedback on
how good it is.
• While I was editing my last interview, I realised that I only got around 30
seconds of footage from that interview so I would have to go back to the
other interviews and make sure I cut them down or select
• Another question I thought, of I if it's important to have each interviewee
introduce themselves first of just have their name as the bottom and their
role.
• After rewatching the whole jenny steel interview I realised she didn’t
introduce herself so my plan is to either get rid of the interview or have her
name and role at the bottom
I didn’t use the text function
this time since I already
remembered what footage and
questionsI wantedand where
going to use. Which was just
advice and introduction
Similar to the jay Mendes
video I had already
filmed and completed
edited a version of jenny
shine steel's
interview. So, I only
decided to take the part
of advice she targeted to
students if you look
before the highlightclips
you can see the Jay
Mendes interview which
Is slightly longer than the
footage, I selected from
the jenny steel interview
and before the jay
Mendes's interview is
another interviewee
which I left even more
footage off

Film Producer
• After doing some consumer feedback I found a learn about a range of different opinionsthat they had. For
example, a few of them liked the fast-paced idea of the video but some thought it might be a bit boring
• My main aim should be to keep the video entertainingand not become a documentary.
• One of the students I got feedback from who thought the idea was good thought it might be easier to have
their name and role at the bottom of the screen.
• They helped me explore some optionsand gave me their ideas on how to make the video better.
• A couple of them were saying how the background didn’t matter or the role because these are people who
have got jobs to what they have want and after showing them what I had worked on so far a few of them
liked the video but thought that each interviewee needs to be given an equal amount of time unless what
the other is saying is really important. Thiswould allow for some similarity in the video and to keep the
option of different presenters
• My main concern is to make sure the video doesn’t become boring so I talked to them about whether I
would be able to still create that one on one connectionbetween them and the audience if they don’t get to
know a littleabout them or their information and it's just someone giving them advice some of them
thought it was a good idea since my video is to specificallytarget students with a passion for media
therefore they would be interested however a few disagreed saying it would be a very long or keep their
attention.
• One of the girls suggested to make it like a movie interviewe where we get to see the interviewee talking to
the camera and giving advice before swapping to another scene or something the person being interviewed
was talking about
• While one of the guys thought it would be better to havethem introducethemselves in the beginning and
have one of them say the title of this video before having each of them being asked and answer the question
so we get some BTS of the video and their thought process and mistakes while answering the question. This
would allow for a clear and realistic answer
For this interview I
took an even
smaller part of the
video.
However, on the
right you can see all
of the footage from
each interview still
there so I would be
able to go through
all of the footage
again after I have
completed the first
draft so I would be
able to see if there
is anything in them
that I could add
that would make
the video more
interesting or add
to make it longer to
achieve my longer
content goal

Interviews
• After looking through almost all the footage I realised some of the videos
had different backgrounds and 3 of them weren't even done in school.
• Since I decided to go with a more relaxed video rather than immediate and
fast-paced advice that may become boring after a period of time I decided
not to keep the ones outside of school since I need to make sure that I
show off the school as it is going on their YouTube channel. Allowing me to
show off the resources and equipment of radio and TV studios that the
school and students have access to.
• Another point I realised was that there are more audio and visual
interviews and any other type giving me a so I need to be careful when
putting the videos in either I keep all the types together or equally space
each of them in between each other.
This interview was one
of my favourites
however I made a
mistake with the
question asking them for
advice for student's
specificallyin this school.
This can be both good
and bad because on one
side future students
applyingwill be
persuaded to join while
people who aren't in our
school won't find the
advice helpful or useful.
The video while it has a
specific target audience
should be something
anyonecan watch and
find helpful
Unless footage slightly more footage I can use
than other last 2 interviews

What I am not putting in the video
• After looking through the footage I decided not to include the
interviews of pandora which didn’t have the best audio and not use
the Podicon footage leaving me with 9 videos edited and 8 videos out
of 16 edited and 5/20 which I won't be using. However, after
researching again with my target audience, it seemed most of them
preferred a story behind the advice. To learn the interviews lives and
journey a little bit before trusting their Feedback and advice. One of
my videos also wasn’t on topic with media professionals so that
became useless to me.
• Since I Had David Mansfield's entire interviews and talk with the
students I thought I should edit that in my free time for the channel
Other videos online
• https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8okqPC1O77g
• This video was a very slow-paced video where we got the entire titles of the video but for
someone my age and mytarget audiences age I don’t believe I would watch it unless my teacher
sat us down in class and played it for us. I got up to 15-20 seconds of the video which made me
rethink myvideo. If I want to target my audience, I have to make the video snappy and interesting
to keep and hold their attention for myaudience. So instead of trying to get as manyinterviews in
as possible I'm going to continue to edit the rest of the videos and get their advice but also
choose the top 9 to remain in the video that was, I can give each interview at least one minute
still and a little time to run over if the video is good.
• The video I watched seemed to be two Uni teachers who had worked in the industry. It had a bit
of B-ROLL here and there, but I think it took away attention from what they were saying since I
have more than two interviews I can jump and transition to another professional as soon as their
point seems to feel like waffle.
• I also have different professionals, so I plan to have three visual, three audio and three digital.
That was I can mix between them to keep different aspects of my media audience interested or
put them all together so my audience can find the time code to the time of the video that interest
them the most.

Selected footage extra footage
So often investors are. Can you tell me about yourself? So my name is Dom and I'm a producer and I run Resource Productions. What did you talk to the students about today? So I talk to the students about all
kinds of different things around self-employment, freelancing, what you charge, how you build a business, and how I setmy own business resource productions. Can you give us a little bit of advice on how you
set out? So one of the things you need to think about when you set up a business is how much are you going to charge? So you've got to work out a little bit of a rate card, make sure you've got charges clear,
think about really boring things like tax national insurance, but also think about things like actualinsurance in case you accidentally hurt or damaged anyone or anything. So there's some really boring basics, but
mostly think about what it is that makes your product or service unique and how you're going to sell that and who you're going to sell it to. What do you think is the main thing that the students need to know to
get a job in the industry? So to get a job in the industry, I think everyone really needs to think about what they aregood at, what do they enjoy doing? So if that's photography, if that's presenting, if that is
making music, if that's your skill, if that's your passion, then you need to think about who else does that in the kind of mainstream world that you can approach. Now, that might be a really big player, like a big
broadcaster or someone like Global that you could reach out to and connect with and try and get some work experience with. Or it could be someone actually more local, maybe someone running a voluntary
group or a community theater company or a local video production company and try and get some experience from them. So to get into the industry, you really need to make contacts. And you can do that by
reaching out to the big players or by just looking on your doorstep. Can you tell me how you got to where you are today? So at the moment I run a production company with 17 staff, which is like kind of scary
even for me to say I've been doing what I do for 22 years. So I startedwhen I was 21 and when I was 21, I never thought that I would have one member of staff, never mind 17 plus. So I think my journey has
been quite slow and steady. It startedoff with just me as a freelancer, running, making videos, teaching, and now I have a whole teamof people.that do all of those things a lot better than me, and I just try and
help them do the best job that they can do to make productions, teach other people, and to try and createlots of projects that we can be really proud of.Is there any advice you'd like to give to the students? So
I'd advise all of the students here to just have a think about who they can connect with, who they can build a network with. It doesn't matterhow young or old you are. It'sreally about who you know. And that
doesn't mean you have to already know anybody or have relatives or friends in the industry. But you need to start making those relationships, making those connections, and reaching out to people as young as
you can so that you've got that support network as you try and enter the creative industries.. So call people, email people, get in touch with companies and try and build your networks as soon as you can. What
is the best way to get in contact with people and start networking? So for people like me that run, you know, companies in the creative industries, email is always a really good way.But we do get thousands of
emails with people saying, Can I work for you? Can I come and volunteer with you? And that's wonderful. But you want to maybe think about do you want to send them an old fashioned letterin the post? That
could be really, really good way of sort of connecting with people. It might be that you want to actually pick up the telephone and prepare yourself and practiceand then try and get through to and speak to
someone who can actually have a conversation with you about your career. So emails aregreat, but think about the personal touch, about letters and about telephone calls and also social media. Now is
something that we never had when I was younger. So you can use Instagram, and particularly for people my age, Twitter, which maybe younger people don't use Twitteras much. But if you register with
Twitter, you createan account that has your name. That's another key thing to remember is lots of creative Instagramand Twitter handles aren't particularly useful if you're trying to promote yourself and your
name.So get a Twitter handle with your name and then reach out to people directly on social media as well. All right. And last question. How do you stand out? Because there's like a ton of students in this
school. It's just like, what do I need to do more? So if you want to stand out in the crowd, I think really it's just having really good manners, being really polite, being really courteous. And you'd be surprised how
many people just lack confidence. So feel like you've got something to say. Be proud of whatever you're trying to communicate and try and be confident as much as you can when speaking to people. That's
makes the difference between who someone, someone who's going to be called back and someone who maybe will be forgotten soon afterwards. So you do have to be loud. You don't have to be kind of in
anyone's face, but you do have to have some confidence. So start building up your communication skills and make sure that you can have a good conversation. If someone said that they'll remember you and
know that they can trust you with some work or some opportunities. All right. Any other questions? All right.
Week 6
• I have a few more interviews to get through and then edit the entire
video together
• Finish video for FMP
• Get it posted week 9
• Get feedback from students and teachers when I get back on week 8
I asked a lot more relevantquestionsto the topic of
advice and trying to help students. Advice that
This interview didn't have a lot of advice but it
did have marketing advice, so I selected Unwanted footage
Wanted footage Unwanted footage
Editing video together
• I have decided im going to make 2 videos from the footage I have slected over the
last 2-3 weeks
• I plan to make the first video only have 6 professional each from diffeent
industrys talking about different and the best points out of all the interviews
• The other video is a longer combination of all the interviews with advice and tips
• I will show these videos to one class in each year group with a survey for them to
fill out and maybe even the teachers.
• This way I will get a range of opionions and ideas and choose the best video to
put forward as my FMP video and my other as my draft.
• Depending on how long the first video idea turns out I plan to cut in down into 6
sperate videos as well and format It of instagram and tik tok as we have not been
uploading as much contenton those platforms recently
Week 7
This week I thought I had finalisedthe video it's was interesting had a tone of informationand advice and I reached
my goal of making the video a good 9 minutes
So, on the Wednesday when everyone came back. I made a quick 15 questionsurvey and playedthe video in front
of my class before standing in front of everyone to play it. Less than 30 seconds in more than quarter of the class
lost attentionand after 3 minutes there were only a few student who looked towardsthe video before going back
to doing their own work or going on their phones or doing something else. Standing there made me realise the
video was boring while I had spent time editing it and carefullyselecting what pieces of information.I wanted it
ended up being annoyingand difficultto watch for my target audiencewho should have found it interesting due to
my research but didn’t because it wasn’t specific to what they needed or wanted
After talkingto a few teachers one of them explainedthat what I did sounded like I was trying to sell someone an
orange by just saying "buy this" but doing it for 9 minutes straight instead I should be more specific with my topics
and separate the different topics in media and put timestamps in the video. If the video were for Tik Tok only keep
that minute of different people as it had a range and make sure the advice is all general. So for other platforms, I
will redo the video so it works better for the Tik Tok and Instagram audience and server's the purpose of drawing
the audience in to learn more and then reorder my 3rd draft video into its media topics so that the audience can
find what is truly interesting for them and they aren't forced to watch a video that is too long for their attention
spans which I knew where short but I tried to ignore one of the main pointsjust so I could make a long video which
another teacher commented "doesn’t matter how long it is if it's boring no one will watch it" so I'm going to
separate it add some b-roll so it's not just people and different music per section
One again I took out unnecessary or unwantedfootage and put the rest of the advice and
tips footage into order that somewhat made sense. I liked how to Jenny steel advice was said
so I thought it would be a good way to start the video
I removed the intros and put them on top of the
main video removing the sight and sounds of
those lines

• While waiting for the first draft
video to export I realised the video
was really bland and I wanted some
music to make it more lively
• So, after going on story blocks, I
found inspirational and happy music
as the best topic for the music
selection rather than cinematic as I
found that style to dramatic.Or I
didn’t use Rock because it would be
to. loud and crazy, so those two
topics worked best with my topic.
• I wanted to use the Changes song
but after playing aroundwith it I
found that I couldn’t get the song to
repeat, and I really wanted to keep
the same beat and tone of music
throughoutthe video, so it feels
connected
For my second video idea I recollected the same chosen footage however I'm only going to use 5 of the videoswhich
are the ones I collected the most useful information from. They are also all different type of jobsso I can keep them
together and edit them in a way that will be factual and interesting but also engaging for my audience.
I ended up deleting the editing I did previouslyfootage and just re editing the 5 chosen videos
after editing the video I realised I had another interview from David Mansfieldwhich was the last interview I did.
Most of the questionsasked were more related to his job and about him which would be better for video 2. However I
did find the ending of the video to have some interesting advice so I through that in near the end of the video.
I wanted to give the video some time to render so I can watch the whole thing and see if anythingIs glitching and if
the transitionsare ok

Each group ended up being 3-5 minutes so I planto

Production and editing for FMP.pdf

  • 1. Week 4 • Finalise radio presenter challenge • Interview founder of The Monday Revolution/ ex CEO of Capital David Mansfield. • Looks at FMP footage and move into laptop folder • Start editing video interviews • Edit at least 3 interview to get useful footage
  • 2. Using text in premiere pro I was able to see what the professional said without having to watch the entire video. I then Skim read over what he said and choose the pieces of information I wanted text / subtitles video screen project folder with footage Chosen Footage Unwanted / not useful for this video footage
  • 3. Using the same Premiere pro software, I watched the video and choose the footage I wantedfor the video. There is a lot of waffles in some of these interviewsso after I have chosen the footage, I like I plan to cut down the things they say to make sure I get their main pointsacross depending on the question. Wanted footage Unwanted footage Other finished interview
  • 4. Week 4 • I believe it is Week 5 • This week I wanted to spend this week and next on editingthis video and basicallygettingit to a point where it was continuously engaging. However after I finished editingthe 3rd interviewand relistened to some of the advice from the professionals Istarted to wonder if having10 professionals in 1 video was reallythe best I could do when Instead Icould havelike 3 professional all from the same part of the media industrylike radio/audio in this video. My Initial idea was just to get as much footage through as possible but I believeI am slowly comingup with better ideas forexample the first 3 professional interviewvideos I edits already take up 10 minutes meaningeach those videos alone I haveto cut out good information thattookup 3 minutes for each. My plan could also be to cut down on the footage further so its just straight professionals advice one after another without givingthem much roomto talk. However since this is the first time postinga video about these professionals who might end up seeing the video I need to be careful not to offend them or make them feel like out of the 20 minute I spent askingthem questions and taking up their time I onlytooka few seconds of it. My audience myalso find it boringsince they wont gain the same excitingand one one one experience that I want to try and recreate for my audience through this video so they also get the chance to feel like they are personallygettingthe advice that will help them grow, learn and succeed in this industry. • While most of my interviews are done in the TV studio, some havebeen done in other places which are specifc to the roles. However the advice theygive may be helpful to my audience or even their name being in the video may drawpeople in so the question ofwhether I keep all the best interviews or interviews with the same background for continutiyor just swap between each of them Is the questions • Another thingI noticed is that I could probablymix the videos around so one of the professionals make a point or tip and another continues on that point and then we come back to that first professional later on.This would be to try and create a more connected feel between each of the professionals • My main goal is to make a couple different drafts and styles ofthe video and playit back to classmates and friends to get their opinions Ialso plan to get some of the younger year student to saywhether the video was interestingfor them or how theyfelt about it (create focus group for wider target audience)
  • 5. I already made a video 5 minute video specificallyabout this interview and it managed to get some views. One of my classmates took the videos and added B-Roll based on what he was talkingabout but I took 3 piece of information the I felt I could use. His introduction, his quote from a famous person and his advice to students. Unwanted footage wanted footage Subtitles
  • 6. Week 5 • It is half term and I have decided to focus the next two weeks on getting this video to a standard where I can show it to others and get feedback on how good it is. • While I was editing my last interview, I realised that I only got around 30 seconds of footage from that interview so I would have to go back to the other interviews and make sure I cut them down or select • Another question I thought, of I if it's important to have each interviewee introduce themselves first of just have their name as the bottom and their role. • After rewatching the whole jenny steel interview I realised she didn’t introduce herself so my plan is to either get rid of the interview or have her name and role at the bottom
  • 7.
  • 8. I didn’t use the text function this time since I already remembered what footage and questionsI wantedand where going to use. Which was just advice and introduction Similar to the jay Mendes video I had already filmed and completed edited a version of jenny shine steel's interview. So, I only decided to take the part of advice she targeted to students if you look before the highlightclips you can see the Jay Mendes interview which Is slightly longer than the footage, I selected from the jenny steel interview and before the jay Mendes's interview is another interviewee which I left even more footage off Unwanted footage wanted footage Jay Mendes interview Film Producer
  • 9. • After doing some consumer feedback I found a learn about a range of different opinionsthat they had. For example, a few of them liked the fast-paced idea of the video but some thought it might be a bit boring • My main aim should be to keep the video entertainingand not become a documentary. • One of the students I got feedback from who thought the idea was good thought it might be easier to have their name and role at the bottom of the screen. • They helped me explore some optionsand gave me their ideas on how to make the video better. • A couple of them were saying how the background didn’t matter or the role because these are people who have got jobs to what they have want and after showing them what I had worked on so far a few of them liked the video but thought that each interviewee needs to be given an equal amount of time unless what the other is saying is really important. Thiswould allow for some similarity in the video and to keep the option of different presenters • My main concern is to make sure the video doesn’t become boring so I talked to them about whether I would be able to still create that one on one connectionbetween them and the audience if they don’t get to know a littleabout them or their information and it's just someone giving them advice some of them thought it was a good idea since my video is to specificallytarget students with a passion for media therefore they would be interested however a few disagreed saying it would be a very long or keep their attention. • One of the girls suggested to make it like a movie interviewe where we get to see the interviewee talking to the camera and giving advice before swapping to another scene or something the person being interviewed was talking about • While one of the guys thought it would be better to havethem introducethemselves in the beginning and have one of them say the title of this video before having each of them being asked and answer the question so we get some BTS of the video and their thought process and mistakes while answering the question. This would allow for a clear and realistic answer
  • 10. For this interview I took an even smaller part of the video. However, on the right you can see all of the footage from each interview still there so I would be able to go through all of the footage again after I have completed the first draft so I would be able to see if there is anything in them that I could add that would make the video more interesting or add to make it longer to achieve my longer content goal Unnecessary Footage x globalacademy student who works for Heart radio interview Other Interviews
  • 11. Interviews • After looking through almost all the footage I realised some of the videos had different backgrounds and 3 of them weren't even done in school. • Since I decided to go with a more relaxed video rather than immediate and fast-paced advice that may become boring after a period of time I decided not to keep the ones outside of school since I need to make sure that I show off the school as it is going on their YouTube channel. Allowing me to show off the resources and equipment of radio and TV studios that the school and students have access to. • Another point I realised was that there are more audio and visual interviews and any other type giving me a so I need to be careful when putting the videos in either I keep all the types together or equally space each of them in between each other.
  • 12. This interview was one of my favourites however I made a mistake with the question asking them for advice for student's specificallyin this school. This can be both good and bad because on one side future students applyingwill be persuaded to join while people who aren't in our school won't find the advice helpful or useful. The video while it has a specific target audience should be something anyonecan watch and find helpful Unless footage slightly more footage I can use than other last 2 interviews
  • 13. Professional's interviews – names and titles • Dev Ilatek - Radio Producer with the BBC/DJ • Tom Guida – Film Producer • Amanda Dorset - Graphic Designer • Amanda Dorset - Graphic Designer • Jay Mendes - Own agency called mamapool • Jenny steel – Global Presenter • Jake – Pandora Producer at Global • Danny Powder – Westside radio talent agent • Abby pear innovations manager from Gif gaff • Andy from one point five • Don from Resources Production • Nikita marketing director from bubble agency • Rob from one point 5 • Social Media and outreach executive from Brixton finishing school • Psychologist • Podicon interviews – 3 interviews • Victoria – St Gilles, drug talk interview • Pandoras interview – Not done in an interview type style Week 5 videos edit Week 6 videos edit Not used Week 4 videos edit
  • 14. Unwanted footage other questionsunrelatedto advice My name is Abby Perl, I member innovation directoratGiffgaff. Thinking aboutdifferent groups ofpeople who aremarginalized andnot included. And it's not too hard. And you learn later along theway. Tell us whoyou areand where you'refrom. So my name's Abby Pearl. I am member, but you'll besorry justa bit. Okay. So. Okay. Whatdoes thatmeanexactly? What does it mean? Hejust gotpromoted last week, so it's all offthepress.I say my roleis to look after how we innovate, using ourmembers and working with our members. So as you saw today, it took history, likehow wecreated innovative ads thatfeatureGiffgaff members. I alsolook after how we providehelp toothermembers, like memberto member, and also how wecreate products andservices with our members teeth.Okay.What was the key thing youwere trying to get across today to ourstudents that you can create differenttypes ofadvertising? What was yourspecificprojects you talkedabout today? I took everybody through anadvert that we've just newly createdthat's called Get Cafcass Back, and itfeatured a Giffgaff member called Alex, who is Test.Without Speechanduses British signlanguage. Itwas the firstadvert that Giffgaffhas createdusing British sign language. Okay, what arethefuture plans for Giffgaff with this typeofthing? What areyourfuture plans that you're new to thejob?Executive For all my future plans,I have notaking. So I think what I'd love to do is actually domore work, likethey say, for more Giffgaff members to challengeus in the same way thatAlexdidto bemore inclusive.I'd love for us to thinkabouthow a product can be even more inclusive than itis currently as well. So I'm quite excited aboutthefutureandif somebodywants todo yourjob, describewhat you do.On how they would go about doing your job. Work really, really hardand say I'd say my job is say varies. And so I guess part ofmy job is creating adverts. As you saw today, I showedyou a TV advertising campaignthat we created.Anotherpart ofmy job is looking for insights to comeup withsitefor new products and services, and that links toanotherpart ofmy job, which is working with our community of members and having constantconversations with them to tryto comeup with likenew product ideas andcreatenew products and services. Advice and related to video topic Abby Pearl innovations manager at Gif Gaf
  • 15. What I am not putting in the video • After looking through the footage I decided not to include the interviews of pandora which didn’t have the best audio and not use the Podicon footage leaving me with 9 videos edited and 8 videos out of 16 edited and 5/20 which I won't be using. However, after researching again with my target audience, it seemed most of them preferred a story behind the advice. To learn the interviews lives and journey a little bit before trusting their Feedback and advice. One of my videos also wasn’t on topic with media professionals so that became useless to me. • Since I Had David Mansfield's entire interviews and talk with the students I thought I should edit that in my free time for the channel
  • 16. Other videos online • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8okqPC1O77g • This video was a very slow-paced video where we got the entire titles of the video but for someone my age and mytarget audiences age I don’t believe I would watch it unless my teacher sat us down in class and played it for us. I got up to 15-20 seconds of the video which made me rethink myvideo. If I want to target my audience, I have to make the video snappy and interesting to keep and hold their attention for myaudience. So instead of trying to get as manyinterviews in as possible I'm going to continue to edit the rest of the videos and get their advice but also choose the top 9 to remain in the video that was, I can give each interview at least one minute still and a little time to run over if the video is good. • The video I watched seemed to be two Uni teachers who had worked in the industry. It had a bit of B-ROLL here and there, but I think it took away attention from what they were saying since I have more than two interviews I can jump and transition to another professional as soon as their point seems to feel like waffle. • I also have different professionals, so I plan to have three visual, three audio and three digital. That was I can mix between them to keep different aspects of my media audience interested or put them all together so my audience can find the time code to the time of the video that interest them the most.
  • 17. Click to add text Most of this interview had talk about what the professional talked about in the G:talk today / what he does on a dailybases and what he thought of the school The 2 parts I selected were his introductionand advice was which added up to arounda minute

  • 20. So often investors are. Can you tell me about yourself? So my name is Dom and I'm a producer and I run Resource Productions. What did you talk to the students about today? So I talk to the students about all kinds of different things around self-employment, freelancing, what you charge, how you build a business, and how I setmy own business resource productions. Can you give us a little bit of advice on how you set out? So one of the things you need to think about when you set up a business is how much are you going to charge? So you've got to work out a little bit of a rate card, make sure you've got charges clear, think about really boring things like tax national insurance, but also think about things like actualinsurance in case you accidentally hurt or damaged anyone or anything. So there's some really boring basics, but mostly think about what it is that makes your product or service unique and how you're going to sell that and who you're going to sell it to. What do you think is the main thing that the students need to know to get a job in the industry? So to get a job in the industry, I think everyone really needs to think about what they aregood at, what do they enjoy doing? So if that's photography, if that's presenting, if that is making music, if that's your skill, if that's your passion, then you need to think about who else does that in the kind of mainstream world that you can approach. Now, that might be a really big player, like a big broadcaster or someone like Global that you could reach out to and connect with and try and get some work experience with. Or it could be someone actually more local, maybe someone running a voluntary group or a community theater company or a local video production company and try and get some experience from them. So to get into the industry, you really need to make contacts. And you can do that by reaching out to the big players or by just looking on your doorstep. Can you tell me how you got to where you are today? So at the moment I run a production company with 17 staff, which is like kind of scary even for me to say I've been doing what I do for 22 years. So I startedwhen I was 21 and when I was 21, I never thought that I would have one member of staff, never mind 17 plus. So I think my journey has been quite slow and steady. It startedoff with just me as a freelancer, running, making videos, teaching, and now I have a whole teamof people.that do all of those things a lot better than me, and I just try and help them do the best job that they can do to make productions, teach other people, and to try and createlots of projects that we can be really proud of.Is there any advice you'd like to give to the students? So I'd advise all of the students here to just have a think about who they can connect with, who they can build a network with. It doesn't matterhow young or old you are. It'sreally about who you know. And that doesn't mean you have to already know anybody or have relatives or friends in the industry. But you need to start making those relationships, making those connections, and reaching out to people as young as you can so that you've got that support network as you try and enter the creative industries.. So call people, email people, get in touch with companies and try and build your networks as soon as you can. What is the best way to get in contact with people and start networking? So for people like me that run, you know, companies in the creative industries, email is always a really good way.But we do get thousands of emails with people saying, Can I work for you? Can I come and volunteer with you? And that's wonderful. But you want to maybe think about do you want to send them an old fashioned letterin the post? That could be really, really good way of sort of connecting with people. It might be that you want to actually pick up the telephone and prepare yourself and practiceand then try and get through to and speak to someone who can actually have a conversation with you about your career. So emails aregreat, but think about the personal touch, about letters and about telephone calls and also social media. Now is something that we never had when I was younger. So you can use Instagram, and particularly for people my age, Twitter, which maybe younger people don't use Twitteras much. But if you register with Twitter, you createan account that has your name. That's another key thing to remember is lots of creative Instagramand Twitter handles aren't particularly useful if you're trying to promote yourself and your name.So get a Twitter handle with your name and then reach out to people directly on social media as well. All right. And last question. How do you stand out? Because there's like a ton of students in this school. It's just like, what do I need to do more? So if you want to stand out in the crowd, I think really it's just having really good manners, being really polite, being really courteous. And you'd be surprised how many people just lack confidence. So feel like you've got something to say. Be proud of whatever you're trying to communicate and try and be confident as much as you can when speaking to people. That's makes the difference between who someone, someone who's going to be called back and someone who maybe will be forgotten soon afterwards. So you do have to be loud. You don't have to be kind of in anyone's face, but you do have to have some confidence. So start building up your communication skills and make sure that you can have a good conversation. If someone said that they'll remember you and know that they can trust you with some work or some opportunities. All right. Any other questions? All right.
  • 21. Week 6 • I have a few more interviews to get through and then edit the entire video together • Finish video for FMP • Get it posted week 9 • Get feedback from students and teachers when I get back on week 8
  • 22. I asked a lot more relevantquestionsto the topic of advice and trying to help students. Advice that
  • 23. This interview didn't have a lot of advice but it did have marketing advice, so I selected Unwanted footage
  • 25. Editing video together • I have decided im going to make 2 videos from the footage I have slected over the last 2-3 weeks • I plan to make the first video only have 6 professional each from diffeent industrys talking about different and the best points out of all the interviews • The other video is a longer combination of all the interviews with advice and tips • I will show these videos to one class in each year group with a survey for them to fill out and maybe even the teachers. • This way I will get a range of opionions and ideas and choose the best video to put forward as my FMP video and my other as my draft. • Depending on how long the first video idea turns out I plan to cut in down into 6 sperate videos as well and format It of instagram and tik tok as we have not been uploading as much contenton those platforms recently

  • 27. Week 7 This week I thought I had finalisedthe video it's was interesting had a tone of informationand advice and I reached my goal of making the video a good 9 minutes So, on the Wednesday when everyone came back. I made a quick 15 questionsurvey and playedthe video in front of my class before standing in front of everyone to play it. Less than 30 seconds in more than quarter of the class lost attentionand after 3 minutes there were only a few student who looked towardsthe video before going back to doing their own work or going on their phones or doing something else. Standing there made me realise the video was boring while I had spent time editing it and carefullyselecting what pieces of information.I wanted it ended up being annoyingand difficultto watch for my target audiencewho should have found it interesting due to my research but didn’t because it wasn’t specific to what they needed or wanted After talkingto a few teachers one of them explainedthat what I did sounded like I was trying to sell someone an orange by just saying "buy this" but doing it for 9 minutes straight instead I should be more specific with my topics and separate the different topics in media and put timestamps in the video. If the video were for Tik Tok only keep that minute of different people as it had a range and make sure the advice is all general. So for other platforms, I will redo the video so it works better for the Tik Tok and Instagram audience and server's the purpose of drawing the audience in to learn more and then reorder my 3rd draft video into its media topics so that the audience can find what is truly interesting for them and they aren't forced to watch a video that is too long for their attention spans which I knew where short but I tried to ignore one of the main pointsjust so I could make a long video which another teacher commented "doesn’t matter how long it is if it's boring no one will watch it" so I'm going to separate it add some b-roll so it's not just people and different music per section
  • 28. One again I took out unnecessary or unwantedfootage and put the rest of the advice and tips footage into order that somewhat made sense. I liked how to Jenny steel advice was said so I thought it would be a good way to start the video
  • 29. I removed the intros and put them on top of the main video removing the sight and sounds of those lines

  • 32. • While waiting for the first draft video to export I realised the video was really bland and I wanted some music to make it more lively • So, after going on story blocks, I found inspirational and happy music as the best topic for the music selection rather than cinematic as I found that style to dramatic.Or I didn’t use Rock because it would be to. loud and crazy, so those two topics worked best with my topic. • I wanted to use the Changes song but after playing aroundwith it I found that I couldn’t get the song to repeat, and I really wanted to keep the same beat and tone of music throughoutthe video, so it feels connected
  • 33. For my second video idea I recollected the same chosen footage however I'm only going to use 5 of the videoswhich are the ones I collected the most useful information from. They are also all different type of jobsso I can keep them together and edit them in a way that will be factual and interesting but also engaging for my audience. I ended up deleting the editing I did previouslyfootage and just re editing the 5 chosen videos
  • 34. after editing the video I realised I had another interview from David Mansfieldwhich was the last interview I did. Most of the questionsasked were more related to his job and about him which would be better for video 2. However I did find the ending of the video to have some interesting advice so I through that in near the end of the video.
  • 35. I wanted to give the video some time to render so I can watch the whole thing and see if anythingIs glitching and if the transitionsare ok
