 Human resource management is the strategic and coherent approach to the
effective and efficient management of people in a company or organization
such that they help their business gain a competitive advantage. It is
designed to maximize employee performance in service of an employer’s
strategic objectives.
What is the HRM ?

 Payroll systems
 Training management systems
 Employee self – service systems
 Applicant tracking systems
Purpose
 The main aim of HRM is to ensure the right people with the right skills for the right
job position in an organization. The main functions of HRM consist of recruiting,
training, performance appraisal, motivating employees, ensuring their good health
and safety, managing workplace communication, and so on.
Four functions
 Four basic functions of Human Resource Management are Planning, Directing,
Controlling and Organizing.

Importance and Limitations of HRM
 Human resource management (HRM) is one of the most important aspects of
management. Regardless of which level or department a manager belongs to, he
must know about the basic principles of HRM.

 Faced with rising numbers of contract-based workers and increasingly complex
regulations, HR professionals have turned to HRM software to help them keep
pace with changing workforce environments and people management needs.
Examples of HRM software
Business leaders and HR professionals who are looking for software to help them
