Newsletters โ Tackle Contamination
Topic #1 - Three Wishes of the Modern MRF
1. Tangle free. Long and stringy items wreak havoc on
equipment and create safety hazards for employees.
2. Recycle it right. Clothing, electronics, food waste, etc. are
โrecyclableโ but not at the MRF.
3. No garbage in = no garbage out. Getting the right materials
prepared the right way โ clean and dry โ is important.

Topic #2 - Why Good People Recycle Bad Things:
3 Common personality types & how to reach them
1. Wish-cyclers: Dedicated recyclers who include โextraโ items
and hope for the best.
2. Skeptics: Doubters who have heard of recyclables being
disposed or canโt conceive of how mixed materials could
possibly be sorted and recovered.
3. Retro-cyclers: They want to do the right thing, but have not
kept up with guidelines.

We understand there are no silver bullets. So we survey the industry to see what are the barriers to success. Then we design around that success.
CVP focuses on these three areas for our practical, tactical work.
And big gains.
The first pool of cities see similar needs.
We have all heard reference to what we feel are outdated issues, some myths linger a lonnnggg time. Programs vary- identify your barriers, ask questions, find solutions. Keep your messages simple enough to be easy to remember and thorough enough for lasting results.

Hereโs work in Columbia.
We have two campaigns- 1991 called: highlighting the upgrade from bins to carts- seen here customized for Columbia
And
Weโre on a Roll- seen here customized for Florence, AL. Which is used here for the program change to carts but also works well to support an existing cart program.
Each campaign has a variety of applications โ direct mail, signage, bill stuffers, ads, etc.
