The City of Roses – Born and raised in a suburb of Portland, my life has been based around
learning about and preserving nature, celebrating uniqueness and how to handle lots of rain!

Ever since my first visit to the Windy City at the age of 9, I have been determined to find a way
back.
5. I go to Loyola University Chicago
“Go forth and set the world on fire” – I’m a fourth-year undergraduate student with an expected
graduation date of December 2015.
6. Working towards a B.A. in International Studies
This interdisciplinary degree has allowed me the flexibility to mold my educational goals and
create a well-rounded understanding of global trends, sociology of cultures and the economic
impacts of a increasingly globalized world.
7. …and a minor in Asian Language & Literature
I have been learning Mandarin Chinese since 2008. Although I have been studying the language
for a long time, I consider myself at an intermediate/conversational level. Learning Mandarin
and about Asian culture is a serious passion of mine.
8. …and another minor in Business Administration
The first two years of my undergraduate studies were spent almost entirely at Loyola University
Chicago’s Quinlan School of Business. I have a solid background in the basics of business
functions such as accounting, marketing, management, business law and economics.
9. I studied abroad in China for 4 months
By far the most influential and important experience of my undergraduate education. Although the
program was located in Beijing, I spent a total of three weeks traveling across the country and
learning about ethnic minorities in the Xinjiang province and Tibet. Traveling to China reaffirmed my
passion and commitment to being an active member of the global community and to seek education
through first-hand experiences.

11. Assistant Account Manager - Pac/West Communications
June 2011-Current – Beginning as an intern, I have grown exponentially while at Pac/West. My
professional, communications and research skills have been sharpened. Taking data, news and
political initiatives and presenting them in a concise manner to clients has been my main objective at
Pac/West.
12. Peer Ambassador - The Beijing Center for Chinese Studies
January 2014-May 2015 – After studying abroad, I wanted to help promote a program that
changed me so greatly. As a Peer Ambassador I not only recruited students to study abroad in
China, but educated others about the importance of studying in another part of the world.
13. Peer Mentor – LUC Center for Experiential Learning
August 2012-April 2013 – By assisting students to find internships, research and other opportunities
in Chicago, I was able to hone in my ability to market myself and market a program. My ePortfolio
was highlighted at LUC and this office as an example of effective personal marketing to employers.
14. Intern – Genesys Telecommunications/BCD M&I
January 2012 & April 2012 – I shadowed the Senior Manager of Global Events for Genesys
Telecommunications at two company events in Los Angeles and Seattle. At these events, I
worked with the team from BCD M&I and learned the details and efficient execution of duties
required in the event planning industry.
16. Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity
Member since 2013, served on E-Board as Secretary in 2014. Alpha Kappa Psi has introduced
me to like-minded, motivated and determined peers to develop a hard-working and successful
chapter at LUC. The Gamma Iota chapter has received awards such as Chapter of The Year and
raised money and donated time to numerous community organizations in Chicago.
17. Chicago Center Program – Host Student
As a Host Student at the Chicago Center Program, I have assisted international students studying in
Chicago assimilate to U.S. culture, navigate a foreign university and introduce to aspects of American
culture. I have helped coordinate cross-cultural events such as Chinese New Year’s Dumpling Night.

A member since freshman year (2012), the NSCS is an honors organization that recognizes high-
achieving students across the nation.

20. Yoga
I sought out yoga as a way to balance exercise and mental health. After practicing for nearly 5
years, I am looking forward to pursuing a yoga instructor certification in the coming years. Yoga
has become a passion and continues to teach me stress management, self-awareness and
acceptance. I try to utilize all of these skills outside of the studio and in all aspects of my life.
21. Cooking
Although I’m still an amateur, I enjoy cooking. Cuisines and flavors from other cultures
(particularly Asia) are my favorite areas to experiment with. Oh, and anything sweet…
22. Being Outdoors
I have been fortunate enough to grow up in the Pacific Northwest where access to nature and
outdoor activities are plentiful. Whether paddle boarding, hiking, riding horses, skiing or
camping, if it involves being outside and taking in the beauty of nature, count me in!
23. Reading
I enjoy reading a variety of books. Mostly fiction, historical fiction, biographies or anything that
takes me somewhere I have never been before.

25. Organized and Forward Thinking
I keep multiple forms of calendars, to-do lists and so on. My life functions around organization
and effective systems. This allows me to track the details but see the bigger picture. I am
continually thinking about the future, how something can be done more effectively and how to
make connections between data and events that many do not see at first.

There is something new to learn about ourselves and the world around us every day. Nobody is
perfect and I take all experiences, negative and positive, and put them into a progressive plan to
improve myself. I welcome opportunities to push myself and to learn from experiences.

Effective communication through all mediums such as writing, presentation, speaking and so
forth are necessary skills in a world filled with constant chatter. I am able to pinpoint effective
messages to stand out. Formatting words in a convincing, impactful and concise way allows me
to portray desired emotions, reactions and information.

It’s important for me to continue to learn about other cultures, different parts of the world and
how similar all humans are at the basic level. Every action we take today affects someone else
tomorrow. Understanding the interconnections we have with every human allows for more
sustainable and impactful plans and decisions.

transformative and impactful work. Guided by strong morals and ideals, I am able to decipher
