- The difference between good and great organization is the effectiveness and efficiency in which they deal with the complete situation spectrum. Every situation – whether an anomaly, a failure, an incident or a crisis – has an effect on utilities companies RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintenance and Safety), albeit at different levels of severity. While an anomaly is a deviation from standard performance, it can be a precursor to a technical failure and requires proactive management. On the other hand, an incident is a failure that compromises system availability because of severity and/or location, and requires reactive actions for fast resolution. Qognify Situation Management offers complete situation awareness and improved responses for railway infrastructures. - Anomaly -A deviation from standard performance that is often a precursor to a technical failure. Inspection - Routine activity that manually detects wear and tear of infrastructure and equipment. Failure -A malfunction in system reliability with limited impact on system capacity (availability). Incident -A failure that compromises system capacity because of severity and/or location. Crisis- An incident that dramatically compromises system operation and/or safety. The impact and probability axes are logarithmic scales. Anomaly, Failure and Incident situations are managed by Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) designed to prevent situations that impact or compromise operation, such as detection of asset performance anomalies and proactive actions. Crisis situations, such as terrorist attacks or train crashes, dramatically compromise system operation and safety because of their high impact level. They are primarily driven by fast information sharing between emergency responders and stakeholders.
- The control room operator enjoys from complete situational awareness powered by GIS maps and live video feeds. The center screen with the adaptive response workflows guides the operators actions with organization’s best practices. Here is a typical Situator workstation in a control room showing 3 screens, a GIS map display showing where event happen, a video display showing what is happening and an adaptive response screen showing how to respond. The demo starts with intrusion alert triggered by Intrusion detection VA application. The alert location is automatically presented on the map and invoke the “irregular activity” response plan.
