PII Scientific Package for Interactive Identification of Aircraft Aerodynamics Model
using unsteady flight and wind tunnel test data.

SOFTWARE CAPABILITIES:
During motion of modern airplane at the high angles of attack stall and vortex flow are
developed. This makes identification of highly nonlinear aerodynamical characteristics
more complex because these characteristics exhibit essential dynamic properties. Since
the real aerodynamic model is unknown, the problem of identification is incorrect. It
makes necessary the inclusion of an expert into the process of identification. PII is
designed to automatize the process of identifications from one side and to allow for an
expert to participate in the identification process from the other side.
PII enables the following:
• account of a priori information, ability of data compatibility check;
• easy changing of the structure of aerodynamic model (from ordinary linear to
unsteady nonlinear) and investigation of its features, identifiability of parameters;
• using a number of methods for parameters estimation;
• verification of obtained aerodynamical model using a number of experimental data
sets.
INTERACTIVE CAPABILITIES:
Essential feature of this package is the possibility of interactive control of identification
process. This enables to avoid non-physical estimates of aerodynamic characteristics.

≈ 60,000 lines of source code. IBM PC: 640kB of RAM, MS-DOS/PC-DOS ver. 3.30
or higher, package requires ≈ 1mB on hard disk drive.
