Pros And Cons Of Cell Phones In School Essay
Argument essay Picture your parents working in the World Trade Center that the terrorists attacked on September 11th. You and your parents
were worried about one another. You discover that you do not have a cell phone or any device to contact your parents. There won't be any chance
that you and your parents could contact each other. What would you do? How would you feel? It seems to me that if cell phones were allowed in
schools, students could contact their parents easier and people could stay in touch. Therefore, cell phones should be allowed to be used in
schools. For one, cell phones could provide students with academic help. According to Apple, about 1.5 million of their electronic devices are
being used in classrooms. If schools allowed cell phones to be used in school, parents could contact their children if necessary. Students could also
call for help by entering the emergency numbers or call the ambulance faster. If we don't have a cell phone to contact our parents, we will need to
borrow the phone in the office. Sometimes the school phone line could be jammed and you need to wait for a while to call. As you can see, these
are some of the reasons that shows why I think cell phones should be allowed to be used in schools. I believe the opposing side may argue that
students will not be focused in school or will play with their cell phones during class time texting or play online games. However, in many
classrooms, electronics such as cell phones prove to be essential in learning. Think about his question, "What do kids learn about cell phones being
confiscated in school?" There is no lesson that kids can learn about cell phones be confiscated in school because it could the parent's fault calling and
calling their child during class time. According to Apple, students who are allowed to use electronic devices in school are engaged and their test
scores have shown progress. This clearly shows that those electronic devices are very Even with school policies in place against students having
cellphones. School systems in the United States face a challenge pertaining to the regulation of cell phone use by

Cell Phones While Driving Persuasive Essay
Research Proposal – Thesis, Major Points, and Plan Fiona Harris Professor: Virginia Rodriguez ENG 215: Research and Writing 10–22–17 The topic
of my persuasive paper, I chose to research the issues surrounding the question, "Should regulations regarding the use of cell phones while driving be
standardized?" I say absolutely, the safety of the millions of American motorists should be considered more important than convenience. The matter of
this kind of behavior happens all day, every day across our nation. Especially for the young generation between the ages of 16–29 but lately. Despite
the growing dependency on cell phone usage I 've also been seeing older people texting and driving to the point where they would drive entirely so slow

A escalated large number of mobile phones has very much made the road safety community aware of the mishaps that can occur on the road by using
your cell phone. Not one person is a better–distracted driver than the next. There 's no such thing as a good distracted driver because I hear a lot of
people saying that they could drive but if you 're driving distracted you can 't drive. Everybody thinks that they are the perfect driver, but being a
great driver consist of driving by the rules for your safety and others. For this reason, standardized regulations laws should be in all states where the
use of cell phones and driving are concerned. Research shows that between 20 or 30 percent of automobile accidents happen in the United States
while being distracted for any reason such as, talking on the phone in a heated conversation, eating, adjusting the radio, looking off, rubber necking,
etc, indicates the increases the risk by four. Other studies, based on driver simulation tests, conclude that people have difficulty multitasking. I really
can say that any distraction while driving is dangerous. Driving should have the primary focus, and that 's keeping your eyes on the road at all times
because it could be just a second glance of look at something and next thing you know you 're riding over in the next lane. I think every state should
have regulations regarding the use of mobile devices. My Intended audience will include my professor,

Have you ever stopped to think what it would be like before we had cell phones? You couldn't just call from your car if you were running late for
work, in a wreck, or trying to find directions. Technology is increasing day by day, and going to do nothing but get bigger. With every new bit of
technology, we get, there are always good and bad to come. Finding these problems is what makes technology interesting. Cell phone has changed
people's life style. The history of cell phone has been developed from time to time since the first invention of handheld cell phone by Martin Cooper in

Cell phones have changed the world of communications. People are woken up by a cell phones everyday. Cell phone became an important
element of our life. After Food, Clothes, Shelter, now Cell Phone. The cell phone has brought many advantages to our culture, it may also have
contributed to an increase in risky behavior among people. Before the invention of cell phones we had to spend more time on our work done. We
had been waiting hours to communicate with others to whom we use to meet everyday. Even if we wanted to talk with our family members, we
had been waiting for them to come back home and then we could speak to them or we needed to wait to call us from a landline phone. We could
move from the place of our phone. After the invention of Cell phones have also enabled families to keep in closer touch with each other. Children
can contact you if they have missed their ride form soccer practice and your spouse can call while he is stuck in traffic to let you know that he is
going to be late for supper. Teenagers are able to call to ask permission to go somewhere, and with GPS features that are now available on some cell
phones, you are able to check to make sure that they are where they are suppose to be. Many of these advantages we do not even notice. Have you
ever arrived at the grocery store and realized that you have forgotten your grocery list? The first thing you would probably do is to call home and have

Cell Phone Addiction Essay
The cell phone has become a centerpiece of everyday life as cell phones are evolving and have been increasing their functionalities. Today, we use
them today for many others reasons than what cell phones were originally designed to do. People are using them so often that they are becoming
dependent on their phones that they have even become addicted to them. Those who are addicted to their cell phones struggle to stay away from
them for a certain period of time and become so indulged in all of the unique things they can provide. With cell phone addiction comes many problems
or issues that can occur in an individual's life. Cell phone addiction has lead to differences in people mentally, physically, and behaviorally.

Luigi Gallimberti, et. al discusses in their article "Problematic Cell Phone Use for Text Messaging and Substance Abuse in Early Adolescence (11– to
13–year–olds)," that problematic cell phone use (PCPU), is associated with psychological distress, low self–esteem, depression, drug abuse, insomnia,
and thoughts of suicide (356). The overuse of cellphones can really detriment a person mentally and could cause them to arrive at one of these
issues stated. An issue also arises when a person with a cell phone addiction is in school. They tend to remain unfocused while on their phones and
they don't participate during class. In a sample, the students who had better test grades were less likely to have a problematic cell phone addiction
(Gallimberti, et. al 360). This finding confirms the positive association between cell phone addiction and poor performance in school. In schools, it
was concluded that this overuse of cellphones was positively connected with deficient school performance in teens with an average age of 15.7 years
old (Gallimberti, et. al 360). Aviad Hadar studies in his article "Answering the Missed Call: Initial Exploration of Cognitive and Electrophysiological

An essay on cell phone addiction.
Cell Phones: Addicting or Not? Are we addicted to our cell phones? This is a common question that has arisen in the past several years as our phone
technology and capabilities continue to increase. According to recent statistics, 85% of the U.S. population are cell phone users (Chen). We Americans
use our cell phones to do just about everything. We talk, text, check our E–mail, surf the Internet, and interact in social networking, all on our phones.
Because our phones have become so resourceful to us in our everyday lives, many say that cell phones have become addicting. Cell phones in today
's life have become very addicting to many people, and there are many ways in which to show how they are addicting. "An addiction is the state of

(cellular–news)" Another way that cell phones are addicting is because people use their phones to play an assortment of games. There are millions
of games that people can play just by simply downloading a game or application to their phones. People no longer have to stay at home and play their
games on a gaming device or computer. Now they can play games away from their homes and pretty much wherever and whenever they want. Many
times people try to carry on face–to–face conversations while being distracted while gaming on their cell phone. This feeling of endless and
uncontained gaming is yet another way that people get hooked to their cell phones. "Experts say cell phone usage will only increase as the phones
become more sophisticated and powerful, likely replacing laptops in the future."(Tanaka, and Terry–Cobo) Cell phones are used by so many people and
do so many things to help people that they have become a necessity, rather than a convenience, in order for people to carry on their lives. This
necessity or dependency is the addiction that people face with their cell phones. When these people lose or break their phones they panic, feel anxiety
and look for the quickest way to fix the problem. For example, the car needs the oil changed and at the same time the phone is broken. Most people

Essay on The Invention of the Cell Phone
In society today it is very rare to find someone who does not own a cell phone. There are ten year old children running around with iPhones. Cell
phones have become such an important part of society. They have come along way with the advancements made in technology to allow these phones to
do more than you would think possible. We now not only use them to contact people, but use them for social media, to take pictures, surf the web, and
get information at the touch of our fingers. It is crazy to think that at one point there were no cell phones. Without the use of chemistry we would not
have the cell phones that we use today. Chemistry is defined by the Holt Modern Chemistry textbook as the scientific study of the composition,

Before we would have just had to wait until we got home to look up who that famous actor is that we were trying to name earlier. Before the cell
phone if you were driving and got lost you would pull into the nearest gas station and ask for directions. Now with our smart phone you can pull up
a map from your phone and get step by step directions to where you need to go. Before cell phones the world had a little more intimacy and
privacy. People sent thoughtful handwritten letters and now we just shoot people an email. Cell phones have also reduced the amount of privacy we
have. Now everything we do goes up online or on social media. As before things were more secretive and low key. With having internet on our
phones everyone can figure out anything about anybody. Natural resources do not limit the the production of cell phones. If anything it helps
manufacturers produce the cell phones. Most cell phones have large amounts of natural resources. They are used for a variety of parts. Crude oil is
combined with natural gas also combined with chemicals to make plastic that is used in cell phones. Other natural resources include lead, zinc,
beryllium, tantalum, coltan, gold, copper and other metals that are used to make the circuit board. Without these resources the cell phone would be
missing many crucial parts and would not run properly. We have never had a massive

Texting While Driving Argumentative Essay
Argumentative Essay Many accidents are blamed on distracted driving and most of the distractions are caused by cell phone usage. However, some
opponents feel that creating a law against cell phone use infringes their personal rights. Others think that banning someone from using their cell
phones is equivalent to telling someone that they can't adjust their radio or chat with someone else in their car. However, using a cell phone, whether
talking or texting, while driving can be extremely dangerous; it should be made illegal because it is very hazardous to yourself and the people
surrounding you, can lead to the death of loved ones, and it is even compared to the danger level of drunk driving. No matter what age the driver is,

In the article, "Dead Girl's Parents Warn Students to Buckle Up and Stop Texting," shows that texting while driving is hazardous and very real
when Alex Brown, age 17, died due to result of texting while driving while not wearing a seatbelt. The parents of Alex Brown, Johhny Mac and
Jeanne Brown, appeared in front of an audience of hundreds of Clyde middle and high school students, to educate young people about Alex's
accident and how easily it could have been prevented. Texting while driving impacts the lives of those around you. A single distraction while
driving, as small and simple it may seem such as texting, can lead to the death of loved ones. Not only is texting while behind the wheel bad enough
itself, many people compare the danger level to drunk driving. Driving while intoxicated at the same time is illegal, just as some believe texting while
driving should be as well. Larry Copeland states that after a study was conducted at The University of Utah, it showed that driving with a
blood–alcohol content of 0.08% is equal to texting and driving. If people were more aware of how closely related texting while driving and drunk
driving are, it would help to inform all drivers on safety behind the wheel. Not only are distracted drivers harming themselves, yet they are putting
every other driver on the road in the same dangerous position without realizing it. Texting while driving puts many driver's lives in danger daily.

Argumentative Essay On Mobile Phone
I remember when I purchased my first cell phone in 2004. I was 15 years old in high school. The feeling of freedom and being able to call friends
anytime was a feeling indescribable to many youths at the time. Also, along with the feeling of being part of the lucky few to be "cool" enough to
have one was probably even better feeling. As I have become accustomed and dependent on my cell phone, it has caused me a plethora of
emotions. Ranging from pure bliss, the time when I received the phone call for the birth of my first son, to complete loathing of the device,
ringing at the earliest hours of the morning as I lay in bed trying to capture the last moments of serenity before life kicks into overdrive once again.
Even though cell phones are useful, they can conjure up deep emotions from our day to day interactions with them that have become widely
acceptable today. Even the absence of our phones can provoke a tangible emotional response. In present times, it can be concluded that society has
now grown an emotional attachment to our phones. My girlfriend and I go out to eat frequently with our family. We usually sit talking about
everything from our daily activities, the usual chatter for most couples. This particular evening we were not on the best of terms. As we sat and
waited on our food to arrive, I could not get her attention to save my life. I could see her face buried eyebrow deep into the screen of her phone.
Dying for interaction from her, I squeezed a conversation

Argumentative Essay On The Cell Phone
Have you ever had a friendship with someone ruined? Would you ever want that to happen again due to technology? Most would think that
technology is supposed to bring us closer to one another, however that is not always the case. Technology originated around 2.5 million years ago
with the discovery with how to give a stone a cutting edge, and around 500,000 years ago man discovered how to tame fire. The first mobile cell
phone was invented by Martin Cooper and the first mobile cell phone call was made on on April 3, 1973. ВЁIn 2002 only 10% of the world's
population used cell phones and by 2005 that number had risen to 46%.ВЁ Although technology has benefited the world in many ways, one being the
fact that people can find love on the internet, the negative impact it has had through social media, and cellular devices, should not be overlooked. As
technology advances, and the newest cell phone hits the market there are thousands of people lined up outside to purchase it. As we all know, most
teenagers today cannot go more than a couple of hours without checking their phones, and being updated on what is going on in the virtual world
around them. The funny thing is however, that they are actually completely ignoring the real world around them. After conducting some research I
came across this statistic, "25 percent of cellphone owners in a marriage or partnership have felt their spouse or partner was distracted by their cell
phone when they were together." This quote shows that cell phones impair human interaction even on romantic levels. I myself actually have had
personal experiences with this topic, and it is astonishing how being a waitress, i've noticed that tons of my customers have been so focused on their
cellphones while out to dinner, rather than spending time while they are out eating with. It has gotten to the point where it takes them a little bit to
even acknowledge my presence at the table. If its not using cell phones during dinner its using cell phones to send that quick message while driving.
The following quote ВЁDuring daylight hours, approximately 660,000 drivers are using cellphones while driving. That creates enormous potential for
deaths and injuries on U.S. roads. Teens were the largest age

When kids get their first cell phone, they think that the world has now completely changed. They have freedom to do whatever they want, call
who ever they want, and be whoever they want. As a parent, this can be tough, especially when the phone bills goes above and beyond what is
expected. If you kids are calling people that you don't know about or you think could be harmful to them, here is one way to do it. If you own the
cell phone bill, you can look at the previous numbers that have been calling. The problem is, it does not show exactly who that person is. So you
could do two things. The first thing that you could do is call the kid back and see who it is, or you could go with a reverse phone lookup. Reverse

How many kids have you seen with a phone but haven't even passed elementary? At what age would it be appropriate to give children the big
responsibility of keeping an expensive cell phone intact while using it respectfully and for the right reasons? "The average age for a child getting their
first smartphone is now 10.3 years" Jay Donovan states. Do you think you could put your full trust in a ten year–old to take care of an electronic device
that costs hundreds of dollars? Tim Elmore says, "From ages 11–14, kids lose some of the connections between cells in the part of their brain that
enables them to think clearly and make good decisions." If kids aren't maturing until their early teen years, I don't think they should need to handle a

Do kids feel safer with a phone? In an article about a father who buys a cell phone for one of his middle schoolers, but not the other, he feels his
kids need a phone for their safety. Telling about his daughter, Doug Luce says, "She wanted to walk from her day camp to the park a mile away. I
told her to go ahead. She'll text me when she leaves and when she gets to the park. She can call me if she runs into trouble," he explained. "Without
the cellphone, I would have said no to the park trip" (Sue Marquette Poremba). When parents can communicate with their children, they feel safer and
find it easier to trust their kids to answer their calls or reply to their texts. Without allowing their middle schoolers a cell phone, the kids wouldn't be
able to contact them when in emergencies. When it comes to parents trusting their children, it all comes down to maturity. Many people believe kids
should get a phone when "the time is right". I think maturity builds over time and it has to be earned and proven. If kids can be responsible in their
everyday tasks–such as chores and homework–they are getting closer and closer to "earning" a cell phone. Once a child has shown he or she is
responsible with their own work and/or possessions, the parent needs to think about the responsibilities that await when they have to explain rules or
expectations to their kids when it comes to having a cell phone. Parents need to remember what the social media will throw at their

Essay on The Effect of Cell Phones on Health
Today's technologies are advancing at such an astonishing rate. This can make it difficult for even the most avid "techie" to keep pace. Technology is
that wonderful thing that brings comfort and convenience to our lives. But, with that comfort and convenience, there often comes a price; and the
technology of the cell phone proves no exception. Arguably, as a communication tool, the cell phone has no equal in how it has changed and affected
our lives. Mostly, the effect has been positive in many ways. But, as it is with anything, overuse and abuse has brought out its dark side and the effect
of unintended consequences. One of the unintended consequences of the cell phone is its effect on the health of its users and even the health...show

Younger, inexperienced drivers under the age of 20 may be at a higher risk; they garner the highest proportion of distraction–related fatal crashes. The
National Safety Council reports that at least 23 percent of all traffic crashes, or at least 1.3 million crashes, involve cell phone use. This number can
be broken down to an estimated 1.2 million crashes each year involving drivers using cell phones for conversations and the remaining 100,000 or
more additional crashes can be related to drivers who are texting. Analyzing this data shows that cell phone conversations are involved in 12 times as
many crashes as texting. This seems to dispel the common myth that a texting driver is the more commonly dangerous cell phone activity.
Additionally, and maybe surprisingly to some, it is not just our drivers causing dangerous situations on the roadways. Many times, pedestrians
entranced with their cell phones are just as dangerous as drivers using them. A study published in Injury Prevention in 2012 reflects that one in three
pedestrians is distracted by a mobile device while crossing busy streets. This type of distraction leads to accidents that injure both pedestrians and
drivers. Germs and Cell Phones Cell phones not only carry important data, but nasty germs also. The greasy, oily residue you

Argumentative Essay: Should Kids Have A Phone?
Hey! I got a question for you. Do you have a phone? Do you think kids should have a phone. Well here are some pros and cons why kids should have
phones. So after you're done reading this choose your side.
The first pro for kids having phones is they have access to a ton of information on the internet. Such as answers to many questions that would take
forever to find in books. The second pro would be that most phones contain a location tracker for parents. This helpful in case of an emergency. Kids
are also able to contact their parents by calling them if lets say soccer practice was canceled.
Now let's start with the cons. The first con is that kids can also have access to other things besides education. Although most schools and parents

Running Head:CELL PHONE DISTRACTION 3
Cell Phone Distractions
Cell phones and technology in general has advanced a lot over the last ten years. Allowing students to be able to take their phones or devices wherever
they want in today's society. Thus bringing forward the issue of cell phone distraction in the classroom. "Concerns about cell phones in the classrooms
are also grounded in what we know about teenage brains, including the inability to concentrate while multi tasking and possibly long term effects on
overall health" (12)
Multitasking is hard enough and if teens are doing this in the classroom that means that kids are not learning enough while staring at their phones
while the teacher is teaching. Having said this a study from Pew research center stated that "78 percent of teens check their devices hourly", this is
insane. If that is true that means on average a student will at least look at her/his device once per class period. As being a student in high school i find
this to be very true. Another study from Pew Research center stated that "50% of teens 13–18 feel addicted to their phones", this means that means
separating from their phones will be tough.
The reason i am writing about this topic is to inform people about this epidemic and i am stating why this needs to be fixed. "Unlike other technologies
there is something very specific about smartphones it represents life, entertainment, social
Running Head:CELL PHONE DISTRACTION 4 media, and gaming" (12) the reason for this is because of apps such as Netflix, Hulu, Facebook,
Instagram, Twitter, and gaming apps.
Phones being allowed in the classroom are tempting for students. Students feel a vibration in their pockets and feel the need to check their phones.
Apps for example snapchat will flash the camera light when the student receives a snap from someone.
A research from Pew Research center asked a teacher what her thoughts were on the issue. "It's just too tempting for a student. Once that phone is
brought out, most can't resist texting a friend or begin playing a game." (12)
Schools are allowing this epidemic to spread by

Argumentative Essay On Mobile Phones
Introduction In the modern world of technology, we as humans have become very dependent on our electronic devices. The minute we wake up
in the morning using our cell phone as an alarm clock and quickly check the weather before getting dressed. As you set to leave the house to start
your day you may forget to mail the bills, take out the trash, but you will not leave the cell phone behind. On the way to work us no longer listen to
the morning radio show, the phone syncs to the car and our personal playlist take over the radio. Sitting in the break room with all your attention
scrolling down social media, completely ignoring the person sitting across from you. What used to be used for mobile calling and the occasional
picture, the cell phone has become the all in one device with an application for everything. The cell phone is the new epidemic that we as humans
will not go without. Unaware Desire Our dependence starts from the very minute we wake up every morning with the alarm from the cell phone.
We place the cell phone literally inches from our head to where it is the first thing encountered every morning. Now a small handheld device delivers
all a user wants, without leaving the bedroom. With the touch of the glass and a swipe to the right, a user can check the weather, swipe right to see
the scores from last night's games, and one more swipe to get all the local news. It was not too long ago when the

Cell Phone Addiction: Mental, Physical, and Behavioral Impacts

  • 1. Pros And Cons Of Cell Phones In School Essay Argument essay Picture your parents working in the World Trade Center that the terrorists attacked on September 11th. You and your parents were worried about one another. You discover that you do not have a cell phone or any device to contact your parents. There won't be any chance that you and your parents could contact each other. What would you do? How would you feel? It seems to me that if cell phones were allowed in schools, students could contact their parents easier and people could stay in touch. Therefore, cell phones should be allowed to be used in schools. For one, cell phones could provide students with academic help. According to Apple, about 1.5 million of their electronic devices are being used in classrooms. If schools allowed cell phones to be used in school, parents could contact their children if necessary. Students could also call for help by entering the emergency numbers or call the ambulance faster. If we don't have a cell phone to contact our parents, we will need to borrow the phone in the office. Sometimes the school phone line could be jammed and you need to wait for a while to call. As you can see, these are some of the reasons that shows why I think cell phones should be allowed to be used in schools. I believe the opposing side may argue that students will not be focused in school or will play with their cell phones during class time texting or play online games. However, in many classrooms, electronics such as cell phones prove to be essential in learning. Think about his question, "What do kids learn about cell phones being confiscated in school?" There is no lesson that kids can learn about cell phones be confiscated in school because it could the parent's fault calling and calling their child during class time. According to Apple, students who are allowed to use electronic devices in school are engaged and their test scores have shown progress. This clearly shows that those electronic devices are very Even with school policies in place against students having cellphones. • 2. Cell Phones While Driving Persuasive Essay Research Proposal – Thesis, Major Points, and Plan Fiona Harris Professor: Virginia Rodriguez ENG 215: Research and Writing 10–22–17 The topic of my persuasive paper, I chose to research the issues surrounding the question, "Should regulations regarding the use of cell phones while driving be standardized?" I say absolutely, the safety of the millions of American motorists should be considered more important than convenience. The matter of this kind of behavior happens all day, every day across our nation. Especially for the young generation between the ages of 16–29 but lately. Despite the growing dependency on cell phone usage I 've also been seeing older people texting and driving to the point where they would drive entirely so slow ...show more content... A escalated large number of mobile phones has very much made the road safety community aware of the mishaps that can occur on the road by using your cell phone. Not one person is a better–distracted driver than the next. There 's no such thing as a good distracted driver because I hear a lot of people saying that they could drive but if you 're driving distracted you can 't drive. Everybody thinks that they are the perfect driver, but being a great driver consist of driving by the rules for your safety and others. For this reason, standardized regulations laws should be in all states where the use of cell phones and driving are concerned. Research shows that between 20 or 30 percent of automobile accidents happen in the United States while being distracted for any reason such as, talking on the phone in a heated conversation, eating, adjusting the radio, looking off, rubber necking, etc, indicates the increases the risk by four. Other studies, based on driver simulation tests, conclude that people have difficulty multitasking. I really can say that any distraction while driving is dangerous. Driving should have the primary focus, and that 's keeping your eyes on the road at all times because it could be just a second glance of look at something and next thing you know you 're riding over in the next lane. I think every state should have regulations regarding the use of mobile devices. My Intended audience will include my professor, Get more content on HelpWriting.net

You couldn't just call from your car if you were running late for work, in a wreck, or trying to find directions. Technology is increasing day by day, and going to do nothing but get bigger. With every new bit of technology, we get, there are always good and bad to come. Finding these problems is what makes technology interesting. Cell phone has changed people's life style. • 4. Cell Phone Addiction Essay The cell phone has become a centerpiece of everyday life as cell phones are evolving and have been increasing their functionalities. Today, we use them today for many others reasons than what cell phones were originally designed to do. People are using them so often that they are becoming dependent on their phones that they have even become addicted to them. Those who are addicted to their cell phones struggle to stay away from them for a certain period of time and become so indulged in all of the unique things they can provide. With cell phone addiction comes many problems or issues that can occur in an individual's life. Cell phone addiction has lead to differences in people mentally, physically, and behaviorally. The overuse of cellphones can really detriment a person mentally and could cause them to arrive at one of these issues stated. An issue also arises when a person with a cell phone addiction is in school. They tend to remain unfocused while on their phones and they don't participate during class. In a sample, the students who had better test grades were less likely to have a problematic cell phone addiction (Gallimberti, et. al 360). This finding confirms the positive association between cell phone addiction and poor performance in school. In schools, it was concluded that this overuse of cellphones was positively connected with deficient school performance in teens with an average age of 15.7 years old (Gallimberti, et. al 360). • 5. An essay on cell phone addiction. Cell Phones: Addicting or Not? Are we addicted to our cell phones? This is a common question that has arisen in the past several years as our phone technology and capabilities continue to increase. According to recent statistics, 85% of the U.S. population are cell phone users (Chen). We Americans use our cell phones to do just about everything. We talk, text, check our E–mail, surf the Internet, and interact in social networking, all on our phones. Because our phones have become so resourceful to us in our everyday lives, many say that cell phones have become addicting. Cell phones in today 's life have become very addicting to many people, and there are many ways in which to show how they are addicting. "An addiction is the state of ...show more content... (cellular–news)" Another way that cell phones are addicting is because people use their phones to play an assortment of games. There are millions of games that people can play just by simply downloading a game or application to their phones. People no longer have to stay at home and play their games on a gaming device or computer. Now they can play games away from their homes and pretty much wherever and whenever they want. Many times people try to carry on face–to–face conversations while being distracted while gaming on their cell phone. This feeling of endless and uncontained gaming is yet another way that people get hooked to their cell phones. "Experts say cell phone usage will only increase as the phones become more sophisticated and powerful, likely replacing laptops in the future."(Tanaka, and Terry–Cobo) Cell phones are used by so many people and do so many things to help people that they have become a necessity, rather than a convenience, in order for people to carry on their lives. This necessity or dependency is the addiction that people face with their cell phones. When these people lose or break their phones they panic, feel anxiety and look for the quickest way to fix the problem. For example, the car needs the oil changed and at the same time the phone is broken. Most people today Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Essay on The Invention of the Cell Phone In society today it is very rare to find someone who does not own a cell phone. There are ten year old children running around with iPhones. Cell phones have become such an important part of society. They have come along way with the advancements made in technology to allow these phones to do more than you would think possible. We now not only use them to contact people, but use them for social media, to take pictures, surf the web, and get information at the touch of our fingers. It is crazy to think that at one point there were no cell phones. Without the use of chemistry we would not have the cell phones that we use today. Before we would have just had to wait until we got home to look up who that famous actor is that we were trying to name earlier. Before the cell phone if you were driving and got lost you would pull into the nearest gas station and ask for directions. Now with our smart phone you can pull up a map from your phone and get step by step directions to where you need to go. Before cell phones the world had a little more intimacy and privacy. People sent thoughtful handwritten letters and now we just shoot people an email. Cell phones have also reduced the amount of privacy we have. Now everything we do goes up online or on social media. As before things were more secretive and low key. With having internet on our phones everyone can figure out anything about anybody. Natural resources do not limit the the production of cell phones. If anything it helps manufacturers produce the cell phones. Most cell phones have large amounts of natural resources. They are used for a variety of parts. Crude oil is combined with natural gas also combined with chemicals to make plastic that is used in cell phones. Other natural resources include lead, zinc, beryllium, tantalum, coltan, gold, copper and other metals that are used to make the circuit board. • 7. Texting While Driving Argumentative Essay Argumentative Essay Many accidents are blamed on distracted driving and most of the distractions are caused by cell phone usage. However, some opponents feel that creating a law against cell phone use infringes their personal rights. Others think that banning someone from using their cell phones is equivalent to telling someone that they can't adjust their radio or chat with someone else in their car. However, using a cell phone, whether talking or texting, while driving can be extremely dangerous; it should be made illegal because it is very hazardous to yourself and the people surrounding you, can lead to the death of loved ones, and it is even compared to the danger level of drunk driving. No matter what age the driver is, under no...show more content... In the article, "Dead Girl's Parents Warn Students to Buckle Up and Stop Texting," shows that texting while driving is hazardous and very real when Alex Brown, age 17, died due to result of texting while driving while not wearing a seatbelt. The parents of Alex Brown, Johhny Mac and Jeanne Brown, appeared in front of an audience of hundreds of Clyde middle and high school students, to educate young people about Alex's accident and how easily it could have been prevented. Texting while driving impacts the lives of those around you. A single distraction while driving, as small and simple it may seem such as texting, can lead to the death of loved ones. Not only is texting while behind the wheel bad enough itself, many people compare the danger level to drunk driving. Driving while intoxicated at the same time is illegal, just as some believe texting while driving should be as well. Larry Copeland states that after a study was conducted at The University of Utah, it showed that driving with a blood–alcohol content of 0.08% is equal to texting and driving. If people were more aware of how closely related texting while driving and drunk driving are, it would help to inform all drivers on safety behind the wheel. Not only are distracted drivers harming themselves, yet they are putting every other driver on the road in the same dangerous position without realizing it. Texting while driving puts many driver's lives in danger daily. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Argumentative Essay On Mobile Phone I remember when I purchased my first cell phone in 2004. I was 15 years old in high school. The feeling of freedom and being able to call friends anytime was a feeling indescribable to many youths at the time. Also, along with the feeling of being part of the lucky few to be "cool" enough to have one was probably even better feeling. As I have become accustomed and dependent on my cell phone, it has caused me a plethora of emotions. Ranging from pure bliss, the time when I received the phone call for the birth of my first son, to complete loathing of the device, ringing at the earliest hours of the morning as I lay in bed trying to capture the last moments of serenity before life kicks into overdrive once again. Even though cell phones are useful, they can conjure up deep emotions from our day to day interactions with them that have become widely acceptable today. Even the absence of our phones can provoke a tangible emotional response. In present times, it can be concluded that society has now grown an emotional attachment to our phones. My girlfriend and I go out to eat frequently with our family. We usually sit talking about everything from our daily activities, the usual chatter for most couples. This particular evening we were not on the best of terms. As we sat and waited on our food to arrive, I could not get her attention to save my life. I could see her face buried eyebrow deep into the screen of her phone. Dying for interaction from her, I squeezed a conversation Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Argumentative Essay On The Cell Phone Have you ever had a friendship with someone ruined? Would you ever want that to happen again due to technology? Most would think that technology is supposed to bring us closer to one another, however that is not always the case. Technology originated around 2.5 million years ago with the discovery with how to give a stone a cutting edge, and around 500,000 years ago man discovered how to tame fire. The first mobile cell phone was invented by Martin Cooper and the first mobile cell phone call was made on on April 3, 1973. ВЁIn 2002 only 10% of the world's population used cell phones and by 2005 that number had risen to 46%.ВЁ Although technology has benefited the world in many ways, one being the fact that people can find love on the internet, the negative impact it has had through social media, and cellular devices, should not be overlooked. As technology advances, and the newest cell phone hits the market there are thousands of people lined up outside to purchase it. As we all know, most teenagers today cannot go more than a couple of hours without checking their phones, and being updated on what is going on in the virtual world around them. The funny thing is however, that they are actually completely ignoring the real world around them. After conducting some research I came across this statistic, "25 percent of cellphone owners in a marriage or partnership have felt their spouse or partner was distracted by their cell phone when they were together." This quote shows that cell phones impair human interaction even on romantic levels. I myself actually have had personal experiences with this topic, and it is astonishing how being a waitress, i've noticed that tons of my customers have been so focused on their cellphones while out to dinner, rather than spending time while they are out eating with. It has gotten to the point where it takes them a little bit to even acknowledge my presence at the table. If its not using cell phones during dinner its using cell phones to send that quick message while driving. The following quote ВЁDuring daylight hours, approximately 660,000 drivers are using cellphones while driving. That creates enormous potential for deaths and injuries on U.S. roads. • 10. When kids get their first cell phone, they think that the world has now completely changed. They have freedom to do whatever they want, call who ever they want, and be whoever they want. As a parent, this can be tough, especially when the phone bills goes above and beyond what is expected. If you kids are calling people that you don't know about or you think could be harmful to them, here is one way to do it. If you own the cell phone bill, you can look at the previous numbers that have been calling. The problem is, it does not show exactly who that person is. So you could do two things. The first thing that you could do is call the kid back and see who it is, or you could go with a reverse phone lookup. Reverse phone directories have become Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Argumentative Essay On Cell Phones How many kids have you seen with a phone but haven't even passed elementary? At what age would it be appropriate to give children the big responsibility of keeping an expensive cell phone intact while using it respectfully and for the right reasons? "The average age for a child getting their first smartphone is now 10.3 years" Jay Donovan states. Do you think you could put your full trust in a ten year–old to take care of an electronic device that costs hundreds of dollars? Tim Elmore says, "From ages 11–14, kids lose some of the connections between cells in the part of their brain that enables them to think clearly and make good decisions." If kids aren't maturing until their early teen years, I don't think they should need to handle a ...show more content... Do kids feel safer with a phone? In an article about a father who buys a cell phone for one of his middle schoolers, but not the other, he feels his kids need a phone for their safety. Telling about his daughter, Doug Luce says, "She wanted to walk from her day camp to the park a mile away. I told her to go ahead. She'll text me when she leaves and when she gets to the park. She can call me if she runs into trouble," he explained. "Without the cellphone, I would have said no to the park trip" (Sue Marquette Poremba). When parents can communicate with their children, they feel safer and find it easier to trust their kids to answer their calls or reply to their texts. Without allowing their middle schoolers a cell phone, the kids wouldn't be able to contact them when in emergencies. When it comes to parents trusting their children, it all comes down to maturity. Many people believe kids should get a phone when "the time is right". I think maturity builds over time and it has to be earned and proven. If kids can be responsible in their everyday tasks–such as chores and homework–they are getting closer and closer to "earning" a cell phone. Once a child has shown he or she is responsible with their own work and/or possessions, the parent needs to think about the responsibilities that await when they have to explain rules or expectations to their kids when it comes to having a cell phone. Parents need to remember what the social media will throw at their Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Essay on The Effect of Cell Phones on Health Today's technologies are advancing at such an astonishing rate. This can make it difficult for even the most avid "techie" to keep pace. Technology is that wonderful thing that brings comfort and convenience to our lives. But, with that comfort and convenience, there often comes a price; and the technology of the cell phone proves no exception. Arguably, as a communication tool, the cell phone has no equal in how it has changed and affected our lives. Mostly, the effect has been positive in many ways. But, as it is with anything, overuse and abuse has brought out its dark side and the effect of unintended consequences. One of the unintended consequences of the cell phone is its effect on the health of its users and even the health...show more content... Younger, inexperienced drivers under the age of 20 may be at a higher risk; they garner the highest proportion of distraction–related fatal crashes. The National Safety Council reports that at least 23 percent of all traffic crashes, or at least 1.3 million crashes, involve cell phone use. This number can be broken down to an estimated 1.2 million crashes each year involving drivers using cell phones for conversations and the remaining 100,000 or more additional crashes can be related to drivers who are texting. Analyzing this data shows that cell phone conversations are involved in 12 times as many crashes as texting. This seems to dispel the common myth that a texting driver is the more commonly dangerous cell phone activity. Additionally, and maybe surprisingly to some, it is not just our drivers causing dangerous situations on the roadways. Many times, pedestrians entranced with their cell phones are just as dangerous as drivers using them. A study published in Injury Prevention in 2012 reflects that one in three pedestrians is distracted by a mobile device while crossing busy streets. This type of distraction leads to accidents that injure both pedestrians and drivers. Germs and Cell Phones Cell phones not only carry important data, but nasty germs also. Allowing students to be able to take their phones or devices wherever they want in today's society. Thus bringing forward the issue of cell phone distraction in the classroom. "Concerns about cell phones in the classrooms are also grounded in what we know about teenage brains, including the inability to concentrate while multi tasking and possibly long term effects on overall health" (12) Multitasking is hard enough and if teens are doing this in the classroom that means that kids are not learning enough while staring at their phones while the teacher is teaching. Having said this a study from Pew research center stated that "78 percent of teens check their devices hourly", this is insane. If that is true that means on average a student will at least look at her/his device once per class period. As being a student in high school i find this to be very true. Another study from Pew Research center stated that "50% of teens 13–18 feel addicted to their phones", this means that means separating from their phones will be tough. Once that phone is brought out, most can't resist texting a friend or begin playing a game." • 15. Argumentative Essay On Mobile Phones Introduction In the modern world of technology, we as humans have become very dependent on our electronic devices. The minute we wake up in the morning using our cell phone as an alarm clock and quickly check the weather before getting dressed. As you set to leave the house to start your day you may forget to mail the bills, take out the trash, but you will not leave the cell phone behind. On the way to work us no longer listen to the morning radio show, the phone syncs to the car and our personal playlist take over the radio. Sitting in the break room with all your attention scrolling down social media, completely ignoring the person sitting across from you. What used to be used for mobile calling and the occasional picture, the cell phone has become the all in one device with an application for everything. The cell phone is the new epidemic that we as humans will not go without. Unaware Desire Our dependence starts from the very minute we wake up every morning with the alarm from the cell phone. We place the cell phone literally inches from our head to where it is the first thing encountered every morning. Now a small handheld device delivers all a user wants, without leaving the bedroom. With the touch of the glass and a swipe to the right, a user can check the weather, swipe right to see the scores from last night's games, and one more swipe to get all the local news.
