It Was Officially Constituted On January 1 1995 which
took the place of GAAT(General Agreement on Tariffs
and Trade) as an effective formal , organisation.
GATT was an informal organisation which regulated
World Trade since 1947 at a conference in Geneva
which led to conduct the negotiations among the 23
countries to prevent protectionist policies and to revive
the economies from recession after World war 2

The negotiations were occurred in different rounds in which the most significant round was Uruguay round of 1986 which was aimed to “Strengthen the world economy and lead to more trade ,investment ,employment and income growth throughout the world.”
