2. Patient’s expect a high level of privacy when it comes
to the handling of their information. Physicians as well
as all other health care employees should be trained in
proper the proper handling of personal information.
3. There are laws set up to protect the rights of
the patient and those that handle this type
of information should be abreast of how to
handle patient files and personal
information.
4. Laws that Protect the Rights of
Patients
HIPPA
HIPPA protects the
privacy of the
patient providing
federal rules of
handling that
information as well as
who has access.
The Security Rule
Sets in place
safeguards on the
technical, physical and
administrative level
which ensures patient
confidentiality in
addition to electronic
information as well.
5. Patients have the right to secure information and as a manager, I would train my staff
by ensuring they are aware of the ramifications that they would be held to if patient
information is abused. HIPPA will be used as a guideline for patient information, it will
taught, that if it is not necessary for someone to view a file then they should not have
access to that file, this will be taught on levels ensuring patient privacy. Managers
have a duty to set the rules and guidelines of the staff and it should be known that
unethical behavior is unacceptable.
