In todays society where there
are an ever growing number of
homeless amongst the major
cities, there are few shelters to
help keep them warm at night,
or help them make a resume;
more importantly there aren’t
any courses, or resources to
help these individuals get the
skills they need for an actual
paying job they can enjoy; and
help get them off the streets.
The major statement in the
facility will be the design of it.
All shelters are very generic
and institutionalized In Canada
with their design aspects,
adding a flare to the exterior
part of the building with the
interior transformed as well
will make the space much
more interesting and make the
youth feel more welcomed.
Studies done on the human brain
and how they relate to curves in
spaces,giveafeelingofwellbeing,
wholeness, movement, emotion,
and protection. All of these
help enforce the rehabilitation
aspect of the facilities, helping
them get back on their feet with
support, and work experience
in a creatively designed space.

Located at 950 Dupont street
is an old gear factory that is
currently used as a storage
warehouse. The exquisite exterior
is shadowed in the industrial
area as there is nothing else in
the area except Personal storage
units and other abandoned
buildings. The Clients wanted to
re-adapt the building to use it
as a cafe and restaurant, but
also have a theatre that can
used for bands and concerts.
In addition to this, Humber
wanted a part in it where they
could have workshops and study
rooms and sometimes classes in
the area as well. the Concept
of the industrial era taking over
with the twist of nature engulfing
the entire building but in a steel
form vs plant.

Located in the Woodbine Center,
“Snow” is a cosmetics boutique
inspired by the fairytale of Snow
White, the ideal woman with skin
as pale as snow, lips as red as
a rose and hair as dark as a
crow’s feathers. The boutique is
designed to appeal to middle aged
women who aspire to the ideal
in feminine beauty. The elements
of the space are designed to
narrate the Snow White story
through the contrast of light and
dark which represent good vs.
evil. Fragmented mirrors along
the walls enlarge the boutique
visually and lead progressively to
a giant antique mirror at the end
of the store. This is the mystic
mirror which will answer the
question in every woman’s heart:
“Who is the fairest of them all?”

Strewn Winery hold great pride in
their image. The newly renovated
design relies on the concept of
Dionysus and the different levels
of wine and the experience that
it takes you through. The building
itself is transformed into a story
being told that is for sure to evoke
gossip. The emphasis of taste
is fulfilled after walking through
the space and experiencing every
detail from the panoramic view
in the entrance, to the coffered
ceiling in the media room and the
glass dome over the tasting room
allowingforanexceptionalamount
of sunlight. The new image of
Strewn is something that will make
the individual want to return to
share the experience with others.

Cottage design for an artist
husband and wife on the
rocky land along the shore of
Georgian Bay. The clients were
looking for a space that took
advantage of surrounding views,
but not having a mansion that
looked misplaced. The focus was
on the upper floor level with a
panoramic view of the area that
could be witnessed at any time.
The offsetting rooms and different
shapes of the cottage allow for
many different views, and the rock
like formation of the roof helps
it blend into the environment.

Chair Design
K o k o n s
Multipurpose furniture design of a
chair that can turn into a nestled
bed. The design is meant to be a
statement piece that can transform
into a multitude of designs that impact
not only the space but the individual
experiencing the chair. with the concept
of a Cocoon in mind; the chair takes
form from the molecular structure of
an atom that s held in space to
support the arms. the supper arms
are movable so that someone can
literally wrap themselves up inside.
Luminaries Design
S i p o l s
Furniture design has always been an
interest of mine, configuring objects to
human dimensions and turning them
into works of art. Growing up with a
mother who welds and has he own
show encouraged me to produce pieces
of my own from metal and wood.
With knowledge of the use of a Mig
welder and a plasma cutter allowed
me to produce my own creations.
The Siplos is designed with the
concept of an onion with the layers
and lines that it produces. The effect
was to create an imaginative light
play on the surfaces that it landed on
