NSTP is a program designed to develop the youth's physical, moral, spiritual, intellectual, and social well-being and promote defense preparedness and ethics of service while undergoing training in any of its three program components.

6. •NSTP COMPONENTS:
1.) RESERVE OFFICER’S TRAINING CORPS
(ROTC) - is a program institutionalized
under Section 38 and 39 of the Republic
Act No. 7077. It is designed to provide
military training to tertiary level students to
motivate, train, organize, and mobilize
them for national defense preparedness.
7. 2.)LITERACY TRAINING SERVICE ( LTS)
- is a program designed to train
students to become teachers of
reading-writing literacy, and numeracy
skills to school children, out–of-
school youth, and other segments of
society in need of their services.
8. 3.)CIVIC WELFARE TRAINING SERVICE (CWTS)
– refers to program or activities
contributory to the general welfare and
betterment of life for the members of the
community or the enhancement of its
facilities especially those devoted to
improving health, education, environment,
entrepreneurship, safety, recreation, and
morals of the citizenry.
9. COVERAGE OF THE NSTP LAW
1.) ALL Freshment students, Male and Female,
starting SY 2002-2003
2. ALL Higher Education Institutions – including
State Universities and Colleges (SUC’s), Technical
Vocational education institutions. SUC’s are
required to provide and maintain the ROTC
Component.
3.) The Philippine Military Academy(PMA), Philippine
Merchant Marine Academy PMMA), Philippine
National Police Academy (PNPA) are exempted from
