2. Isaiah Revelation
Your gates will always stand open,
they will never be shut, day or night,
so that men may bring you the
wealth of the nations (60:11)
On no day will its gates ever be shut,
for there will be no night there. The
glory and honor of the nations will be
brought into it. (21:25)
The sun will no more be your light by
day, nor will the brightness of the
moon shine on you, for the LORD
will be your everlasting light, and
your God will be your glory. (60:20)
The city does not need the sun or
the moon to shine on it, for the glory
of God gives it light, and the Lamb is
its lamp.(21:23)
Nations will come to your light,
and kings to the brightness of your
dawn.(60:3)
The nations will walk by its light, and
the kings of the earth will bring their
splendor into it (21:24)
3. The world is dark
• 246 million child labourers
• 2 million children being sexually exploited
• 1.4 million children die each year from
preventable causes
• Every 14 seconds a child is orphaned by AIDS
• 100 million missing
4. The world is dark
• Record prison numbers
• 100,000 abortions per year
• Relationship break ups
• Loneliness
• Unhappiness
• Men loved darkness instead of light because
their deeds were evil.- John 3:19
5. God is light
• The LORD will be your everlasting light
• God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. – 1
John 1:5
• Jesus is the light of the world – John 8:12
• A light has dawned – Isaiah 9:2
• For God, who said, “Let light shine out of
darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to
give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of
God in the face of Christ – 2 Corinthians 4:6
6. We are the light of the world
• You are the light of the world – Matthew 5:14
• We are to reflect his glory – 2 Corinthians 3:18
• Then your light will break forth like the dawn,
and your healing will quickly appear; then your
righteousness will go before you, and the glory of
the LORD will be your rear guard. Then you will
call, and the LORD will answer; you will cry for
help, and he will say: Here am I. – Isaiah 58:8-9

• Evangelism and gifts of mercy
• It’s time to shine
• To hold out the word of life
