SESSION #7
3. ISAIAH
1:2-3
(NKJV)
⢠The Wickedness of Judah
⢠2 Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O
earth! For the LORD has spoken:
âI have nourished and brought up
children,
And they have rebelled against Me;
3 The ox knows its owner
And the donkey its masterâs crib;
But Israel does not know,
My people do not consider.â
4. ISAIAH
1:16-17
(NKJV)
⢠16 âWash yourselves, make yourselves
clean;
Put away the evil of your doings from
before My eyes.
Cease to do evil,
17 Learn to do good;
Seek justice,
Rebuke the oppressor;[a]
Defend the fatherless,
Plead for the widow.
5. ISAIAH
1:18
(NKJV)
⢠18 âCome now, and let us reason
together,â
Says the LORD,
âThough your sins are like scarlet,
They shall be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson,
They shall be as wool.
7. ISAIAH 6:1-4
(NKJV)
ISAIAH CALLED TO BE
A PROPHET
⢠Isaiah Called to Be a Prophet
⢠6 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the
Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up,
and the train of His robe filled the
temple. 2 Above it stood seraphim; each one
had six wings: with two he covered his face,
with two he covered his feet, and with two he
flew. 3 And one cried to another and said:
⢠âHoly, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts;
The whole earth is full of His glory!â
⢠4 And the posts of the door were shaken by
the voice of him who cried out, and the house
was filled with smoke.
8. ISAIAH 6:5
(NKJV)
⢠5 So I said:
⢠âWoe is me, for I am undone!
Because I am a man of unclean lips,
And I dwell in the midst of a people
of unclean lips;
For my eyes have seen the King,
The LORD of hosts.â
9. ISAIAH 6:6-7 (NKJV)
⢠6 Then one of the seraphim flew to
me, having in his hand a live
coal which he had taken with the
tongs from the altar. 7 And he
touched my mouth with it, and
said:
⢠âBehold, this has touched your
lips; Your iniquity is taken away,
And your sin purged.â
10. ISAIAH 6:8 (NKJV)
⢠8 Also I heard the voice of
the Lord, saying:
⢠âWhom shall I send,
And who will go for Us?â
⢠Then I said,
âHere am I!
Send me.â
11. ISAIAH 6:9-10
(NKJV)
⢠9 And He said, âGo, and tell this
people: âKeep on hearing, but do not
understand; Keep on seeing, but do
not perceive.â
⢠10 âMake the heart of this people
dull,
And their ears heavy,
And shut their eyes;
Lest they see with their eyes,
And hear with their ears,
And understand with their heart,
And return and be healed.â

17. WARNINGS AND ASSURANCES
TO ISRAEL AND JUDAH
⢠The first 11 chapters describe many social, moral and religious sins that are similar
to the sins that the modern descendants of Israel and Judah are presently
committing. This continue throughout chapters 41 to 49, the difference is that in
these chapters God gives them encouragement that He will eventually redeem
them. Here are some examples:
⢠âYou are My servant, I have chosen youâ (Isaiah 41:8-9; Isaiah 49:3).
⢠âI will not remember your sinsâ (Isaiah 43:25).
⢠âEven I will carry, and will deliver youâ (Isaiah 46:4).
⢠The Lord is âthe Redeemer of Israelâ (Isaiah 49:7; Isaiah 44:22).
18. THE DAY OF THE LORD
⢠Most people associate the day of the Lord with a period of time or a special day
that will occur when Godâs will and purpose for His world and for mankind will be
fulfilled.
⢠Some scholars believe that the day of the Lord will be a longer period of time than
a single day.
⢠Other scholars believe the day of the Lord will be an instantaneous event when
Christ returns to earth to redeem His faithful believers and send unbelievers to
eternal damnation.
19. ISAIAHâS PROPHECIES ABOUT
THE DAY OF THE LORD
⢠12 For the day of the LORD of hosts Shall come Upon everything lifted up, and it shall be
brought low (Isaiah 2:12)
⢠6 Wail, for the day of the LORD is at hand! It will come as destruction from the Almighty.
(Isaiah 13:6)
⢠9 Behold, the day of the LORD comes, Cruel, with both wrath and fierce anger,
To lay the land desolate; And He will destroy its sinners from it. (Isaiah 13:9)
⢠Five times in the New Testament (Acts 2:20; 1 Thessalonians 5:2; 2 Thessalonians 2:2; 2
Peter 3:10). It is also alluded to in other passages (Revelation 6:17; 16:14).
20. THE KINGDOM OF GOD
⢠The following are some of the prophecies about this coming Kingdom:
⢠The Lord will set up His kingdom over all nations, teach man His ways and judge
between the nations (Isaiah 2:2-4).
⢠The âBranchâ will establish Jerusalem and those who dwell there as holy (Isaiah
4:2-6).
⢠âThe government will be upon His shoulder.â He will be called âPrince of Peaceâ
and âof the increase of His government there will be no endâ (Isaiah 9:6-7).
⢠All animals will live at peace with man and one another, and âthe earth shall be full
of the knowledge of the LORDâ (Isaiah 11:6-9).
21. ⢠The Lord will resettle Israel in their land (Isaiah 14:1-2).
⢠The deaf shall hear, the blind shall see, and Jacobâs descendants will âhallowâ the
Lordâs name (Isaiah 29:18, 22-24).
⢠A king and princes will rule in quiet and peaceful habitations (Isaiah 32:1, 15-18).
⢠âThe desert shall ⌠blossom as the rose,â the infirmed will be restored, and âwaters
shall burst forth in the wildernessâ (Isaiah 35:1-10).
⢠There are numerous prophecies about the Kingdom of God throughout chapters 44
to 66. It is a very important theme in this book. Everything written is leading up to
the peaceful eternal government of God and, finally, to ânew heavens and a new
earthâ (Isaiah 65:17).
