SECURITY SPECIFICATION
RMA security vehicle modifications have been developed to ensure that the modified vehicle specification is optimized for its intended
application. RMA offers a series of features developed from the extensive knowledge gained through experience meeting the
requirements of global commercial, civil and military organizations. This provides operators with a safe, functional and durable vehicle
platform which can be tailored with optional features to suit specific operational requirements. These vehicle attributes are classified
into three key areas;
RMA security vehicles are based on the most suitable OEM base vehicle specification with security modification features including
a minimum standard specification to ensure that the modified vehicle is suitable for its intended application. This specification provides
operators with a safe, functional and durable vehicle platform that can be used for a variety of security operations.

The Ford Ranger Armored is a robust, armored pickup truck that offers discreet protection, extensive storage and a compact size.
The 5-passenger vehicle has ballistic protection up to B6 level on vertical panels and window glass with up to B6 roof protection,
underfloor V50 fragmentation protection against hand grenades and optional fuel tank protection. The Ford Ranger is suitable for
military missions and for international governments, heads of state, security organizations and VIP transport.
Engineered to perform well on harsh terrain, the heavy duty suspension system provides improved dynamic vehicle behaviour and
durability on and off road. High performance front brake discs and pads are developed to manage the increased weight of the
armored vehicle and improve braking capability when driving at high speed. A tire retention system allows the vehicle to be driven
for a short distance, following a sudden loss of tire pressure, to escape a dangerous situation. The Ford Ranger Armored vehicle can be
customized with additional security options to suit customer applications.

The Ford Ranger Police is a robust, multi-use vehicle for police and security force use in challenging operating environments. Suitable for
law enforcement, peacekeeping operations or light military applications, the police vehicle provides an adaptable working platform
to support civil or military protection operations. The police vehicle features are designed to enhance the operational effectiveness,
occupant safety and vehicle durability to operate reliably in all environments.
The police vehicle is equipped with ‘POLICE’ identification decals, emergency light bar, siren and public address system to ensure immediate
identification in emergency situations. Steel protection bars protect headlights and tail lights and clear window protection film ensures
that vehicle glass remains intact, and occupants protected, in the event of attack. Should the vehicle engage in high speed driving, the
heavy duty suspension provides optimum vehicle control in dynamic driving situations with high performance front brake discs and pads
ensuring that braking performance remains consistent and predictable. Further modifications can be installed to suit defensive police
or light military applications.

The Ford Ranger Prisoner Transport is a secure prisoner transport vehicle providing law enforcement and peacekeeping support to
operations in remote and challenging environments. The prisoner transport cabin offers secure and robust transportation for up to
6 prisoners. Twin, full width rear doors with a non-slip step provide easy access to the prisoner cabin, ensuring safe loading of
restrained prisoners. Each door is fitted with laminated glass and steel protection bars, providing secure visibility for prisoner guards.
Prisoner seats are configured in 2 rows of 3 seats each fitted with 2-point seatbelts and easy to clean, vinyl seat pads. The back-to-back
seating configuration and full height padded headrests reduce the opportunity for prisoners to assault other occupants, along with
minimising eye-to-eye contact. The prisoner cabin includes roof ventilation fans and interior lighting with protective steel mesh.
Guards can monitor and communicate with prisoners using the cabin intercom system, helping to prevent unrest. Further prisoner
security modifications can be installed to meet specific customer applications.

The Ford Everest Armored is a high mobility, armored 4x4 SUV developed to perform discreetly in conflict areas with ballistic protection
up to B6 level on vertical panels, window glass, roof and includes underfloor V50 fragmentation protection against hand grenades.
The Everest is tailor-made for security and peacekeeping missions and is appropriate for mobile rescue teams and emergency
organisations operating in conflict areas.
The vehicle features an enhanced heavy-duty suspension package that reduces body roll and allows for a comfortable driving experience
on and off road. It also incorporates an enhanced fuel filtration system, high performance brakes, upgraded turbo intercooler system to
enhance engine performance, tyre retention system and an upgraded axle breather system to improve water wading capability. The Ford
Everest offers a compelling blend of comfort, discretion and dynamic performance and can be customized with additional security options
to suit customer applications.

The Ford Everest Cash-in-Transit is a high mobility, 4x4 SUV Cash-in-Transit vehicle developed in conjunction with international financial
institutions to securely transport high-value items in challenging environments. To add further protection, the vehicle can be fitted with
armored ballistic protection up to B6 level (see Ford Everest Armored for more details).
The vehicle is equipped with a high load suspension system to ensure optimum vehicle stability when carrying varying weights of
high-value items. The cash-in-transit facility features a high strength steel cash box integrated within the vehicle trunk, allowing
use of all 5 seats within the passenger cabin. A triple locking system ensures maximum security with a cabin activated panic alarm
available for emergency situations. The cash box is fitted with an internal smoke detector which activates an alarm inside the vehicle
cabin and a fire extinguisher is mounted next to the cash box door.

capability. It is specifically
designed for use in high-risk &
conflict environments where
international organizations such
as NGO’s, oil/mining companies,
mobile rescue teams and emergency
organisations operate. The Defender 110
Armored is fitted with a variety of armored protection materials,
including state-of-the-art ceramics, aramid composites and high tensile steel,
for unparalleled ballistic protection. The vehicle body meets BRV 2007 VR7 standards
for high-velocity rifle ammunition with window armor providing ballistics protection to B6 level. Occupants benefit from roof protection
against ballistic and explosive threats as well as underfloor V50 fragmentation protection against hand grenades. Furthermore, the
engine firewall armor provides protection from frontal assaults.
The Defender 110 has a high torque 2.2-liter diesel engine with anti-stall system maintaining engine performance at all times. An
independent coil-spring suspension system is uprated with heavy duty springs & dampers, maintaining optimum rough terrain capability
despite the increased vehicle weight due to the vehicle armor. The run-flat tire system allows for continued driving following a sudden
loss of tire pressure due to ballistic attack or while driving over debris. The Defender 110 Armored vehicle can also be customized with
additional security options to suit customer applications.

The Land Rover Defender 130 Armored
Cash-in-Transit provides high-security,
armored protection for high-value
items and personnel. In addition to its
proven all-terrain capability, the vehicle has been
designed to perform under challenging conditions while securely and
discreetly transporting cash and valuables. The Defender 130 has a high
torque 2.2-liter diesel engine with anti-stall system, maintaining engine performance at all times.
Defender 130 Cash-in-Transit is fitted with a variety of armored protection materials, including state-of-the-art ceramics, aramid
composites and high tensile steel, for unparalleled ballistic protection. The vehicle body meets B4+ protection for AK47 levels of
high-velocity rifle ammunition with window armor providing ballistics protection to B6 level. The cabin side windows can be fitted
with optional firearm ports. Vehicle cabin occupants benefit from roof protection against ballistic and explosive threats with the engine
firewall armor providing protection from frontal assaults. Further electronic security items are available, such as an integrated GPS
tracking system, uninterruptable power supply for the security management systems and central security locking for all doors.
The rear cash-in-transit cabin includes additional seating for 2 security personnel and a high-security cash compartment with an
anti-fishing drop chute enabling seamless monetary deposits. A wide range of additional cash-in-transit options are available to maximize
personnel safety and cargo security.

dedication to quality. RMA Armor Protection System is impervious to military-grade
small arms fire. Vehicle occupants are also protected from hand grenade shrapnel
and other explosive devices, thanks to our ballistic protective armor technology.
When sensitive security missions require an inconspicuous presence, our
well-disguised armoring is virtually invisible. You can choose from
comprehensive selection of our armored vehicles that meet the strict
NIJ III/ EN B6 international protection standards.
ARMORED VEHICLE
Whole Vehicle Security
RMA selects armoring materials that are lightweight, high strength
and provide optimum ballistics protection for the expected threat
level. Materials and armor designs are independently tested and
approvedbytheworld-renownedthirdpartyarmortestingorganization-
QinetiQ - which is a guarantee of consistent ballistic performance.
Many armorers reference simply the protection level of the materials
used, but the armor design is just as important in ensuring your
protection from rounds targeting potential weak points such as door
shutts & hinges. Our VR7 certification by QinetiQ gives you the
confidence that the whole vehicle and not just the materials that
have been applied to it have been rigorously tested.
The BRV 2009 VR7 standard requires the entire armored vehicle
to be subject to a comprehensive destructive testing process with
multiple shots on the vehicle to ensure that the armoring will
withstand the type of ammunition that it is rated for.
• Over 150 shots will be fired at the firewall, windscreen, side
panels, rear, gaps/ apertures and roof areas from lateral attack
angles of between -45 degree and +45 degree and elevation
angles of between 0 and +90 degree.
• Two DM61 hand grenades detonated under the vehicle floor within a 1m2 area.
Ballistic protection provided as standard for vertical surfaces of all new RMA armored products. Alternative threat protection can be provided in response to specific requests customer requests.

Armored driver cabin protection to B6 standard. Wherever possible armor areas in the passenger
compartment are overlaid with the original OEM trim panels with minor adjustments to fit.
Vehicle roof armored protection up to B6 standard. The floor armoring provides V50 fragmentation
protection against the detonation of two anti-personnel hand grenades within a 1m2 area.
High density polyethylene sandwich materials have been used in the door for armor weight reduction.
High strength snap strap material is added to prevent damage to the door hinges due to the armored
door weight.
Land Rover Defender
The vehicle cabin is armored up to B6 protection level, with armored panels located in the doors,
engine bulkhead, cabin rear wall, floor and roof. The floor armoring provides V50 fragmentation
protection against the detonation of two anti-personnel hand grenades within a 1m2 area.
Doors are fitted with high density polyethylene sandwich construction armor materials, giving significant
weight savings while maintaining B6 protection. Strengthened door hinges have been added to
support the additional weight of the door & window armor, along with high strength snap strap
material to protect the door hinges from damage.
Armoring in the passenger cabin is discreetly covered with suitable automotive trim materials.
ARMORED RADIATOR PROTECTION
Ballistic engine cooling radiator protection
The engine cooling radiator is a fragile component that is particularly vulnerable to damage from
projectiles. A damaged radiator can quickly run dry resulting in permanent, vehicle disabling engine
damage. The armored radiator protection is a high-strength steel cowling that provides protection
from ballistic attack and shrapnel piercing. The cowling ensures that cooling air-flow to the radiator
is not compromised and provides protection by deflecting projectiles.

Windows are fitted with EN1063 standard, 37mm ballistic glass, providing BR6 armor protection

ARMORED FUEL TANK PROTECTION
Ballistic armored fuel tank
Ballistic side protection and V50 fragmentation protection against the detonation of hand grenades
under the vehicle. Prevents the vehicle from being disabled due to fuel loss or fire.
TIRE RETENTION SYSTEM
Mechanical tire retention band
Wheel safety bands are a simple yet effective solution to the danger and inconvenience of tire
punctures, blow-outs and under inflation. With the tire band retention system fitted, the vehicle
will remain drivable, up to a maximum speed of 50km/h, following a puncture by ensuring that
tire band remains seated correctly and avoiding the tire dismounting from the wheel.

Ballistic vehicle battery protection
Armored steel floor plate protects the vehicle battery, providing ballistic side protection and V50
fragmentation protection against the detonation of hand grenades under the vehicle.

Armored steel protection plate protects the enhanced fuel filter system, providing ballistic side

Rear mounted camera provides a visual image behind the vehicle when reversing. Rear view camera

The dedicated cash-in-transit cabin is constructed using a multi-layer, robust aluminium structure
to maximize monetary security. The cabin is divided into two sections; one section non-armored
for the cash vault and the second armored section for security personnel.
Access to the cash vault is further reinforced with an armored, anti-blast, triple latching (top, bottom
& side) door with key operated cylinder lock. The cash vault can be configured to hold ATM cassettes,

Internal vehicle rollover protection
The RMA Rollover Protection System (ROPS) has been developed to provide optimum safety to
vehicle occupants in the event of a rollover incident. The ROPS is designed to augment the existing
vehicle safety structure and, if the vehicle occupants are wearing seat belts, the ROPS reduces the
potential for head injuries caused by roof crush when a vehicle is involved in a rollover.
RMA ROPS is not compatible with vehicles fitted with curtain airbag systems.
Vehicle rollover is one of the most severe
accidents that a vehicle can be involved in.
Where OEM manufacturers develop their
vehicles with deformable ‘safety zones’ to
protect the occupants from head-on or side
collisions, the passenger car industry safety
organizations – Euro NCAP, Australian NCAP &
US NHTSA – don’t include any specific tests to
measure the safety of a light utility vehicle,
such as a pickup or SUV, in the event of a rollover.
Nor do the tests consider the specific anomalies
that are unique to off road vehicle safety or
industrial working environments. The US NHTSA
states that SUV type vehicles are 2.5 times
more likely to rollover than a sedan car.
Furthermore, 33% of SUV fatalities are as a
result of rollover, highlighting the importance
of additional vehicle rollover safety protection.
Tall and narrow vehicles, such as pickups and
SUVs are more susceptible to rollover due to
their higher center of gravity and vehicle weight
increasing the chance of rollover. Furthermore,
modern off road vehicles are quiet, comfortable
and fitted with many safety systems, often
providing the driver with a false sense of
security that reduces awareness of dangerous
driving conditions. These vehicle characteristics,
along with typical use patterns in off road
environments contribute to the potential for
rollover incidents to occur. These remote and
challenging operating conditions are often
foundinremoteindustrialworkingenvironments,
such as mining, where rollover is even more
serious due to the reduced availability of
emergency services.
ROPS Features

The ROPS is designed to meet the most stringent

resource extraction companies. The RMA test
protocol harnesses advanced engineering expertise
to optimize safety, utilizing learnings from the FIA
international motorsport federation in their
evaluation of motor racing rollover accidents.
Optimum Packaging
The ROPS roll cage features a lightweight design
that adds only 34kg to the overall vehicle weight
for a double cab vehicle. Roll cage construction
maintains maximum entry/exit clearance and does
not affect internal headroom. Key contact points
are fitted with high density foam padding that has
been specifically designed to minimize injury to
occupants who are not wearing a helmet.
Precision Manufacturing
The ROPS roll cage is manufactured from cold drawn
high tensile steel with CNC formed tubing joined
with CNC machined connecting joints. Mounting
brackets are laser machined to ensure maximum
dimensional accuracy for optimum fit within the

ROLLOVER PROTECTION SYSTEM (ROPS)

As there is no industry testing standard for rollover
protection on light utility vehicles and to ensure that
the ROPS meets the most stringent safety standards,
RMA has developed its own test protocol. The RMA
ROPS engineering test & development process includes

Provides a programmable electronic speed limiter that restricts vehicle maximum speed. The speed
limit can be programed by either the driver or centrally by the vehicle fleet manager depending on

High visibility wheel nut indicators
Allows loose wheel nuts to be quickly and easily identified, preventing vehicle hub damage or loss

RAISED AXLE BREATHER
Raised axle differential breather hose
When wading through deep water, the standard vehicle differential breather hoses can become
submerged. The difference in temperature between the cold water and hot differential can cause
water to be sucked into the differential casing along the breather hose causing damage to the
differentials, drive gears and axles. The raised axle breather raises the open end of the breather
hose to a higher position within the vehicle body, increasing the water wading depth before water
could enter the axles.

to meet the needs of the majority of customers who drive mainly on sealed road surfaces, it isn’t optimized for the operational requirements
of a heavy duty industrial vehicle that is regularly driven off road or on poor road surfaces in varied environmental conditions. The same can
be said of the typical aftermarket suspension systems that are designed to meet the broad requirements of a vehicle that is driven on the
daily work commute during the week and driven off road at the weekend.
The RMA heavy duty vehicle suspension system addresses the specific operational requirements of a professional security vehicle that is
subject to extreme environments, by improving durability, control and safety. The enhanced suspension improves dynamic characteristics
on road and provides superior performance off road. By improving dynamic capability, driver confidence is increased and safety is enhanced
as the vehicle remains more controllable in all driving situations. Suspension component durability is prolonged, reducing service intervals
and maintenance costs. As nearly all security vehicles are fitted with a variety of operational equipment, the suspension system improves
stability when carrying variable payloads or when towing a heavy trailer. When developing an enhanced suspension package, RMA engineers
emphasize the requirement to understand the operational requirements of the vehicle. A popular misconception is that an ‘uprated’

COOLANT LEVEL ALARM
Audible warning alarm for low coolant level
The coolant level alarm monitors the level of engine coolant in the vehicle radiator and warns the
driver when the level falls below safe operating guidelines. Should a leak occur in the cooling system,
for example from damage to the radiator, the coolant level will fall, activating the coolant level alarm.
A warning alarm is installed in the vehicle providing an audible alert to the driver and will continue
to sound until the coolant level is restored.

Enhanced fuel filtration system for removing fuel impurities
The enhanced fuel filtration helps to improve engine durability and reliability by separating water and
fuel impurities before they cause damage to the fuel injection system. Water contamination can be
easily identified via a clear plastic viewing bowl located at the bottom of the filter. The filter can be
easily drained by hand and does not need to be removed from the vehicle.
There are two fuel filtration options to suit different operating climates:
Cold climate: fitted with heating element, suitable for ambient temperatures down to -40°C/-40°F.
Warm climate: suitable for ambient temperatures greater than 5°C/41°F.

In addition to the visible warning symbol on the instrument panel, the audible alarm alerts the driver
that water is present in the fuel system. When water builds up inside the enhanced fuel filtration system,

water-in-fuel and coolant level alarm warning alarms, both features use the same alarm.

The enhanced fuel filtration system replaces the standard
OE system and connects to the vehicle using standard fuel
hoses and electrical connections. The fuel filter element
is effective down to 2 microns particle size and provides
nearly 100% water separation, where OEM fuel filters
are typically only effective to approximately 10 microns.

Replacing the standard OE vehicle battery, the heavy duty battery features calcium lead construction
for minimal fluid loss (10% less than standard batteries) reducing maintenance requirements. The
internal construction uses calcium alloy grids and low resistance envelope separators means that the
battery has 20% improved charging capability when compared to a standard battery, particularly in
cold climate conditions. Calcium alloy grids provide rapid engine cranking even after long periods
of standing, prevent corrosion and extend the life of the battery reducing replacement costs.

DEEP CYCLE SECONDARY BATTERY
Deep cycle secondary battery for high electrical load applications
The deep cycle battery can be regularly discharged, using most of its capacity, to voltages lower
than 10.5v without losing performance in subsequent cycles. Standard starter batteries that are
designed to deliver short high-current peaks for engine cranking, cannot sustain such cycles. Deep
cycle batteries represent an efficient way to power instruments and supplementary equipment
without affecting the state of charge of main vehicle starter battery, providing a more consistent
power output and faster recharging.
Selected security modifications are fitted with a compact-style deep cycle battery featuring an
internal construction which uses an absorbent, non-spill glass mat (AGM) to hold electrolyte
solution instead of the liquid electrolyte found in normal batteries. This spillproof design means
that the battery can be mounted in virtually any position, optimizing location and load space within
a vehicle and remains operational even when cracked or damaged.
COOLANT BLOCK HEATER
Engine coolant heater with timer system
Allows pre-warming of the engine to assist with cold weather, starting and pre-heating of the
vehicle cabin. Recommended for vehicles operating in ambient temperatures of -20°C/-4°F or below.
The coolant block heater warms the engine by integrating a heating element into the engine cooling
system. The heating element is supplied with fuel from the vehicle's fuel tank which is burned inside
the coolant block heater system. The thermal energy is then distributed through the vehicle's engine

LONG RANGE FUEL TANK
High capacity fuel tank for increased vehicle driving range
The 115/120 litre long range fuel tank provides increased fuel capacity enabling longer distances
to be driven between refueling intervals. The steel long range fuel tank replaces the standard
plastic vehicle fuel tank and has been designed to fit within the standard chassis legs without
affecting ground clearance or ramp over angle. The standard fuel supply system is retained ensuring
that the fuel pump and gauges operate as normal. The tank is manufactured from high strength
steel providing improved durability and puncture resistance.

External public announcement speaker & siren system
External loud speaker system allows the vehicle occupants to communicate one-way with people
outside the vehicle without needing to stop or get out of the vehicle. It includes an emergency siren
function to alert other road users and pedestrians. The system provides a safe and rapid way to relay
information without risking personnel safety.

Provides additional privacy and comfort to vehicle passengers. Window tinting protects the car

Driving is safer due to reduced glare from bright sunlight. Discoloring of interior trim materials
is minimized due to reduced UV exposure. The window tint features a non-metallic film that
provides zero interference to mobile phones, GPS devices and radio reception. Window tint is
available in either 40% or 60% tint.

Hazard warning triangle and first aid kit provide essential emergency equipment for vehicles
involved in an incident or brakedown.

Heavy duty wheel chocks provide secure vehicle location when performing maintenance on a
vehicle. Vehicle movement is stopped by eliminating wheel rotation, ensuring that the vehicle will
not move.

External body mounted 12v magnetic worklight
Magnetic, swiveling LED worklights allows multiple mounting locations on the vehicle body. The
bright white LED worklight provides a clean and crisp light output for easier and safer working at
night or in dark environments. Powered by 12 volt sockets located inside the side and rear roller
shutter doors on the maintenance body for weather protection and flexible positioning. The worklight
has a coiled cable to reduce cable entanglement and provide an extendable working area.

Clear window film helps to protect the passengers and equipment inside the vehicle, preventing
side & rear windows from shattering if struck by an object. The film holds shattered glass together,

Twin, full width rear doors with a non-slip step provide easy access to the prisoner cabin, ensuring safe loading of restrained prisoners. Each door is fitted with laminated glass and steel protection bars, providing secure visibility for prisoner guards. Prisoner seats are configured in 2 rows of 3 seats each fitted with 2-point seatbelts and easy to clean, vinyl seat pads. ARMORED VEHICLE Whole Vehicle Security RMA selects armoring materials that are lightweight, high strength and provide optimum ballistics protection for the expected threat level. Materials and armor designs are independently tested and approvedbytheworld-renownedthirdpartyarmortestingorganization- QinetiQ - which is a guarantee of consistent ballistic performance. Many armorers reference simply the protection level of the materials used, but the armor design is just as important in ensuring your protection from rounds targeting potential weak points such as door shutts & hinges. Our VR7 certification by QinetiQ gives you the confidence that the whole vehicle and not just the materials that have been applied to it have been rigorously tested. The BRV 2009 VR7 standard requires the entire armored vehicle to be subject to a comprehensive destructive testing process with multiple shots on the vehicle to ensure that the armoring will withstand the type of ammunition that it is rated for. • Over 150 shots will be fired at the firewall, windscreen, side panels, rear, gaps/ apertures and roof areas from lateral attack angles of between -45 degree and +45 degree and elevation angles of between 0 and +90 degree. • Two DM61 hand grenades detonated under the vehicle floor within a 1m2 area. Wherever possible armor areas in the passenger compartment are overlaid with the original OEM trim panels with minor adjustments to fit. Vehicle roof armored protection up to B6 standard. The floor armoring provides V50 fragmentation protection against the detonation of two anti-personnel hand grenades within a 1m2 area. High density polyethylene sandwich materials have been used in the door for armor weight reduction. High strength snap strap material is added to prevent damage to the door hinges due to the armored door weight. Land Rover Defender The vehicle cabin is armored up to B6 protection level, with armored panels located in the doors, engine bulkhead, cabin rear wall, floor and roof. The floor armoring provides V50 fragmentation protection against the detonation of two anti-personnel hand grenades within a 1m2 area. Doors are fitted with high density polyethylene sandwich construction armor materials, giving significant weight savings while maintaining B6 protection. Strengthened door hinges have been added to support the additional weight of the door & window armor, along with high strength snap strap material to protect the door hinges from damage. Armoring in the passenger cabin is discreetly covered with suitable automotive trim materials. ARMORED RADIATOR PROTECTION Ballistic engine cooling radiator protection The engine cooling radiator is a fragile component that is particularly vulnerable to damage from projectiles. A damaged radiator can quickly run dry resulting in permanent, vehicle disabling engine damage. The armored radiator protection is a high-strength steel cowling that provides protection from ballistic attack and shrapnel piercing. The cowling ensures that cooling air-flow to the radiator is not compromised and provides protection by deflecting projectiles. Prevents the vehicle from being disabled due to fuel loss or fire. TIRE RETENTION SYSTEM Mechanical tire retention band Wheel safety bands are a simple yet effective solution to the danger and inconvenience of tire punctures, blow-outs and under inflation. With the tire band retention system fitted, the vehicle will remain drivable, up to a maximum speed of 50km/h, following a puncture by ensuring that tire band remains seated correctly and avoiding the tire dismounting from the wheel.   • 18. REAR VIEW CAMERA Rear facing camera system Rear mounted camera provides a visual image behind the vehicle when reversing. Rear view camera significantly increases safety and reduces the chance of vehicle damage caused by reversing into objects located behind the vehicle. Provides the driver with greater confidence when maneuvering in confined spaces. The camera is activated when reverse gear is selected and a rear view image is displayed within the internal rear view mirror housing. The image has 3 graduated distance reference lines to indicate how far behind the vehicle an object is located; Blue line - 4m, Red line - 1m, Yellow line - 0.7m Mounting location dependant on vehicle application. SAFETY FEATURES 18 RNA20 / RNA21 / DNA21 EXHAUST TAILPIPE GUARD Exhaust anti-blockage protection Mesh steel cover prevents foreign objects from being inserted into the exhaust tailpipe ensuring the engine will continue to operate. Without the tailpipe guard, foreign objects such as mud or stones can be forcefully inserted into the end of the exhaust tailpipe restricting engine gases from exiting the engine and stopping the engine. The tailpipe guard will not stop the determined saboteur, but will prevent opportunistic attempts to block the tailpipe. DKA31 ARMORED GEARBOX PROTECTION Ballistic armored gearbox protection V50 fragmentation protection against the detonation of hand grenades under the vehicle. ROLLOVER PROTECTION SYSTEM (ROPS) Internal vehicle rollover protection The RMA Rollover Protection System (ROPS) has been developed to provide optimum safety to vehicle occupants in the event of a rollover incident. The ROPS is designed to augment the existing vehicle safety structure and, if the vehicle occupants are wearing seat belts, the ROPS reduces the potential for head injuries caused by roof crush when a vehicle is involved in a rollover. RMA ROPS is not compatible with vehicles fitted with curtain airbag systems. Vehicle rollover is one of the most severe accidents that a vehicle can be involved in. Where OEM manufacturers develop their vehicles with deformable ‘safety zones’ to protect the occupants from head-on or side collisions, the passenger car industry safety organizations – Euro NCAP, Australian NCAP & US NHTSA – don’t include any specific tests to measure the safety of a light utility vehicle, such as a pickup or SUV, in the event of a rollover. Nor do the tests consider the specific anomalies that are unique to off road vehicle safety or industrial working environments. The US NHTSA states that SUV type vehicles are 2.5 times more likely to rollover than a sedan car. Furthermore, 33% of SUV fatalities are as a result of rollover, highlighting the importance of additional vehicle rollover safety protection. Tall and narrow vehicles, such as pickups and SUVs are more susceptible to rollover due to their higher center of gravity and vehicle weight increasing the chance of rollover. Furthermore, modern off road vehicles are quiet, comfortable and fitted with many safety systems, often providing the driver with a false sense of security that reduces awareness of dangerous driving conditions. These vehicle characteristics, along with typical use patterns in off road environments contribute to the potential for rollover incidents to occur. These remote and challenging operating conditions are often foundinremoteindustrialworkingenvironments, such as mining, where rollover is even more serious due to the reduced availability of emergency services. ROPS Features Industry Standard The ROPS is designed to meet the most stringent safety standards required by the world’s major resource extraction companies. The RMA test protocol harnesses advanced engineering expertise to optimize safety, utilizing learnings from the FIA international motorsport federation in their evaluation of motor racing rollover accidents. Optimum Packaging The ROPS roll cage features a lightweight design that adds only 34kg to the overall vehicle weight for a double cab vehicle. Roll cage construction maintains maximum entry/exit clearance and does not affect internal headroom. Key contact points are fitted with high density foam padding that has been specifically designed to minimize injury to occupants who are not wearing a helmet. The speed limit can be programed by either the driver or centrally by the vehicle fleet manager depending on the intended usage. The speed limit can be set in KM/H or MPH, from 30km/h (18mph) upwards and can also be set to limit engine RPM. The system does not provide vehicle braking. RAISED AXLE BREATHER Raised axle differential breather hose When wading through deep water, the standard vehicle differential breather hoses can become submerged. The difference in temperature between the cold water and hot differential can cause water to be sucked into the differential casing along the breather hose causing damage to the differentials, drive gears and axles. The raised axle breather raises the open end of the breather hose to a higher position within the vehicle body, increasing the water wading depth before water could enter the axles. HEAVY DUTY SUSPENSION The standard OE suspension components fitted to a vehicle have been through an extensive engineering development program, providing a balance between the requirements of varied driving conditions, durability, comfort and cost. While the standard OE suspension is designed to meet the needs of the majority of customers who drive mainly on sealed road surfaces, it isn’t optimized for the operational requirements of a heavy duty industrial vehicle that is regularly driven off road or on poor road surfaces in varied environmental conditions. The same can be said of the typical aftermarket suspension systems that are designed to meet the broad requirements of a vehicle that is driven on the daily work commute during the week and driven off road at the weekend. The RMA heavy duty vehicle suspension system addresses the specific operational requirements of a professional security vehicle that is subject to extreme environments, by improving durability, control and safety. The enhanced suspension improves dynamic characteristics on road and provides superior performance off road. By improving dynamic capability, driver confidence is increased and safety is enhanced as the vehicle remains more controllable in all driving situations. Suspension component durability is prolonged, reducing service intervals and maintenance costs. COOLANT LEVEL ALARM Audible warning alarm for low coolant level The coolant level alarm monitors the level of engine coolant in the vehicle radiator and warns the driver when the level falls below safe operating guidelines. A warning alarm is installed in the vehicle providing an audible alert to the driver and will continue to sound until the coolant level is restored. ENHANCED FUEL FILTRATION SYSTEM Enhanced fuel filtration system for removing fuel impurities The enhanced fuel filtration helps to improve engine durability and reliability by separating water and fuel impurities before they cause damage to the fuel injection system. Water contamination can be easily identified via a clear plastic viewing bowl located at the bottom of the filter. The filter can be easily drained by hand and does not need to be removed from the vehicle. There are two fuel filtration options to suit different operating climates: Cold climate: fitted with heating element, suitable for ambient temperatures down to -40°C/-40°F. Warm climate: suitable for ambient temperatures greater than 5°C/41°F. Enhanced fuel filtration capability is necessary for markets with poor fuel quality and where the fuel handling and storage facilities are not well maintained. In markets where the fuel supply infrastructure results in water and other impurities entering the fuel, if this contaminated fuel enters a vehicle fuel system, it can cause permanent engine damage. Standard starter batteries that are designed to deliver short high-current peaks for engine cranking, cannot sustain such cycles. Deep cycle batteries represent an efficient way to power instruments and supplementary equipment without affecting the state of charge of main vehicle starter battery, providing a more consistent power output and faster recharging. Selected security modifications are fitted with a compact-style deep cycle battery featuring an internal construction which uses an absorbent, non-spill glass mat (AGM) to hold electrolyte solution instead of the liquid electrolyte found in normal batteries.
