CAREER HISTORY
Riversimple Engineering Limited – Head of the R&D Workshop
2014 – Riversimple is a car company based in the UK aiming to produce highly efficient vehicles for personnel transport. The team
are very highly motivated and dedicated with a vision of making a massive impact on personal travel for the future. Currently in a
transition period as we set up our R&D Workshop in Mid-Wales due to the expanding business. We are now designing a production
two seater, styled by Chris Reitz, formerly Head of Design at Alfa Romeo, who has joined Riversimple. The new car is the next
generation and developed over a two year program based on our technology demonstrator. This is powered by hydrogen fuel cells with
a novel design (that we refer to as ‘Network Electric’) and made from advanced composites. The design emphasis is on efficiency and
it achieves energy consumption equivalent to 300 miles per gallon on petrol. Responsible for setting up the workshop, the building of
two Dynos and a Powertrain demonstrator. The writing of procedures, risk assessments, including Policy statements ensuring
standards are maintained during build. Purchasing of components, and liaising with suppliers. Ensure sufficient and suitable resources
and equipment are available to complete all mechanical repair work within the agreed program. Initiate and develop specific
mechanical repair procedures and work instructions. Supervise work execution and carrying out mechanical routine jobs, trouble
shooting to mechanical faults, distribute and execute work and ensure history data is entered and maintained.
Operate workshop machines including Pillar drill, Bending/Rolling cutting machine. Responsible for coaching and transfer of
knowledge to subordinates.
Give feed back of work progress to the company Architect and Senior Engineers including the Project Manager.
Issue Fault Reporting document update on a regular basis to include engineering and operations groups. Producing a recording system
for the Lifing of components
Responsible for the build and maintenance of Hydrogen Systems including conforming to all current regulations regarding the safe
use.
MarussiaF1 Team – Factory Assembly Manager
2010 – 2014: Responsible for the Operational Management of three Departments, Hydraulics, Sub-Assembly and Gearbox. Working
to a very tight budgetary guidelines, Ensuring all turnaround and servicing are completed within very tight deadlines. Liaising with
outside suppliers when necessary regarding overhauls and delivery requirements. My role includes working closely with Design,
Purchasing, Production and Stores ensuring that components are available within the time restraints. Recruiting of Factory based
Technicians into Sub-Assembly so as to gain experience in a variety of discipline’s with a view of sending them Racing as and when
required. So as to recruit suitable candidates I have visited and worked closely with Staff at Silverstone Motorsport College. Writing
procedure’s where necessary especially in the field of Hydraulics improving both Servicing and Rig operations.
HispaniaF1 Team – Hydraulics
2010 - 2010: My role includes all matters related to the Hydraulic systems on the car which include the following responsibilities:
Managing and leading the Hydraulic section, provision of stock of all required parts for the Hydraulic systems, Handling all the
Hydraulic on car installations, Managing the trackside spare parts ensuring sufficient stock retained in our stores, Liaison with various
suppliers for all the availability and required servicing of components including Lifeing. Installing, bleeding/flushing and sign off, of
the Hydraulic components fitted to the car during trackside events, Maintenance of equipment, tools and infrastructure regarding to the
Hydraulics Department. I have a limited involvement with the Gearbox as this is Xtrac controlled but assist in Clutch and Ratio
changes. Fault finding using Atlas telemetry Data.

2. Williams F1 – Hydraulics Foreman
2006 – 2010: Responsible for the Operational Management of the Hydraulics Dept including the day to day workload and priorities,
Budget control, and ensuring all targets are met. Component control including Build, Test, Lifeing, ordering components, stock control
and release of complex components. Liaising with outside contractors. Managing a Team of six within. Fault diagnosis and Fault
reporting using NCR documentation, ensuring that defined procedures are followed including safe working practices by conducting
regular Risk Assessments. Ensuring housekeeping standards are maintained by carrying out contamination and Quality control on a
regular basis. Working closely with designers, organising training courses e.g. Atlas, Moog, Pall, hose manufacture etc.
1999 – 2006: As the travelling Hydraulics Technician ( Test Team ) completing 4 seasons working with mineral based hydraulic
fluids, I was responsible for all Hydraulic components fitted to the cars.
1997 – 1999: I was involved in Special Projects to which I supported the TWR Nissan team at Le Mans in the 24hr endurance race,
running combined ABS and power braking in which we saw all three cars finish. Following Le Man continued support with Panoz
road car and its hybrid Q9, BMW LMR supplying a variety of components. During this period I was the Build Technician within the
Department.
Royal Air Force – Aircraft Engineer
1995 –1997: Following the disbandment of The Queens Flight relocated to its new home in West London. I continued my flying
duties as Wessex Crewchief Leader. Completed 23 yrs service as an Aircraft Engineer with the Royal Air Force.
1992 – 1995: Wessex Helicopter Servicing Manager, responsible for planning all servicing.
1986 – 1989: Wessex Helicopter Crewchief responsible for all engineering aspects whilst flying Her Majesty The Queen, Members of
the Royal family, Visiting Heads of State and Senior Ministers.
1985: General Service training including Trade Management and Supervision Pt II
1979– 1985: Joined The Queen’s Flight, as a tradesman, working on Andover, Wessex Helicopter and BAE 146 Aircraft
1974 – 1979: Airframe systems/mechanical engineering trained in the Theory of Flight of both Fixed and Rotary wing aircraft,
serving on Canberra and Vulcan aircraft.
