Mission Santa Clara De Asis
Mission Santa Clara De Asis
Written By:Anh Le
Introduction
Have you learned about missions? One about the missions was that Junipero Serra founded only 9 of the 21 missions founded in California. One of
the missions founded by Junipero Serra was Mission Santa Clara De Asis(Wikipedia "Junipero Serra) which is the mission I'm going to inform you
about. One of the resources that I used for this paper was "The Missions: California's Heritage,Mission Santa Clara De Asis" by Mary Null BouleМЃ,
published by Merryant Publishers, 1988. Next, I will inform you about the history of this mission and also it's designs.

Did you know that The Santa Clara Mission was the 8th mission built (from "Fact Cards California ,Missions ,Mission Santa Clara...show more

For example, one of the most recent disaster was a fire in 1926 (from"Fact Cards California ,Missions ,Mission Santa Clara De Asis"). How this
affected the mission was that it made the mission more stable over the years. For example, when the first version of the mission was made of logs
and then moved on to more stable materials like adobe bricks. Next, you will learn about the routine of the native americans and about which tribes
were brought to this mission. Have you ever wondered about the routine of the Native Americans that went to the mission? Well first of all,to clarify
which Native Americans were brought there, it was the Ohlone and the Chochenyo that were brought to the mission to be baptized(from The article
The History of Mission Santa Clara(Santa Clara University website)). Ok so each morning, the native americans were awakened by a church bell and
were sent to church which was before breakfast and after breakfast is work. Woman cooked, older boys worked in fields, and children went to school
where padres taught them. At noon, they eat lunch(page 8 of "The Missions: California's Heritage Mission Santa Clara De AsiМЃs" by Mary Null
BouleМЃ,published by Merryant Publishers,1988). Then, after their lunch, they had a 2 hour break before going back to work.then they had dinner and
danced, sang, and played and went to sleep after(page 8 of "The Missions: California's Heritage Mission Santa

Santa Clara University Character Analysis
I can relate very well to Santa Clara University's strategic mission, which at its core stresses the importance of a positive character. Having studied in
a Catholic high school, I learned that a positive character is essential to succeeding in life. Knowledge, love, and financial independence will reveal
themselves to individuals with the right character traits. From that, I believe that SCU will provide me not only the knowledge to succeed in the world
but also the character traits needed to make the world a better

Personal Narrative: Santa Clarita
I was born at UCLA Santa Monica, yet a few days after being born my family picked up and moved to Seattle. From my first few days in the world
to 4 years old, we moved all around from the West coast to the East coast until finally settling in to Santa Clarita. Although Santa Clarita is part of
L.A. county it hardly feels like it. From here L.A. is approximately 35 miles away, which can be a quick 40 minutes or a grueling hour and a half.
Aside from the distance our little town seems so separated from the busy city life. So much so that when I drive into L.A. I experience a culture
shock. The way my brain works rapidly while trying to process every little thing I see always gives me a pounding headache. Santa Clarita has a plain

Preparing for Ethical Challenges Essay
Preparing For Ethical Challenges A survey by the Josephson Institute of Ethics polled more than 20,000 middle and high school students about moral
standards. Almost half of these students reported stealing something from a store in the previous 12 months. In the same period, seven out of 10
cheated on an exam. There is more and more evidence of antisocial behavior than ever among our youth. Even our most academically talented students
tend to let personal interest triumph over the common good. (Johnson, 1999) Where have we gone wrong? In the early 19th century ethics was as much
a part of the curriculum as mathematics. Children were taught from readers that were filled with stories of honesty, self–reliance, and courage. The

In other words, these students need to be taught life skills. First, our educators need to have a firm understanding themselves of what it means to be an
ethical leader. A study by Barrett et al. suggests that teachers have an understanding of the underlying ethical principles of their profession but a set of
principles should be compiled that follows the code of ethics for America Psychological Association and the American Medical Association. (Weegar,
2007) This national code of ethics would establish a standard for defining the expected ethical behavior of education professionals. Since the educators
are the first line of defense it is important to protect the students against incompetent educators and/or educators who would not follow their code of
ethics. It is important to develop a plan for re–enforcing ethics to students at the university level. But, here is my dilemma. While I fully believe the
university has an obligation to further the students' education in this arena. How does the university engage young adults and convince them that there
is more to be learned? I wonder if, as a young adult , an ethical code is already set and, if it is, then how do the universities go about re–opening that
door in order to pique their interest in the subject matter. I believe the task to be extremely difficult but, not impossible.

Santa Clara University Strategic Vision Analysis
The aspect of Santa Clara University strategic vision that appeals to me is the promise to educate citizens and leaders about Competence,
Conscience, and Compassion. Citizens and leaders need Competence which in order to be able to do a task or assignment successfully and
efficiently. Leaders and citizens need to learn to have conscience on how to differentiate the right from wrong. Leaders and citizens need to learn to
have Compassion, which is sympathy and have concern for others. These three crucial elements of human character and the ways to act is what builds
a more humane and sustainable world. These strategic vision appeals to me since there are essential to to develop and build leaders and citizens in the
world we live in today. People

Mission Of The Mission Santa Clara
The Mission Santa Clara is a historical California site that is laid in the center of the Santa Clara University. In 1777, it established and founded by the
Franciscan Order. The mission's purpose was to be the sister mission to Mission Dolores that is in San Francisco. Due to Mexico withdrawing from the
Spanish Empire, the King of Spain and his Viceroy, the ones sponsoring the missions, were no longer in power. The Mexican government didn't have
enough resources and was not interested to maintain and upkeep the distant missions, removing the Spanish Franciscans. With little funds, the mission
perished slowly until the ownership of the mission was passed over to the Society of Jesus, also called the Jesuits, in 1851. They made Santa Clara
college and today, Mission Santa Clara is used as a student chapel and opened to the public. Mission Santa Clara is set in the middle of Santa Clara
University (which can be seen in the Santa Clara University's campus map), located in the Bay area. When it was founded, the city of Santa Clara
was seen as a good place to set the mission due to it having fertile land, mild climate that makes for comfortable living, and abundance of game in the
area. In front of the mission, there stands the Mission Cross. At the base of the cross, a piece of the original cross, from 1777, is placed inside as a
memorable. Standing in front of the mission's door, the three bronze statues of St. John the Baptist, St. Claire, and St. Francis

Summer Program Application Essay
The reason as to why I am applying for this summer program is because of the opportunity that it provides. Programs such as these gives the unique
opportunity to explore multiple different career paths. But, not only does it provide a learning opportunity, it also allows a cultural one. Being able
to travel and live in a foreign country at such a young age is one of the most memorable and amazing things that you can do. I believe that if accepted
into this program, that I will do my very best to prove myself dedicated as a student because I want to spend my life learning and preparing myself for
the real world as a careered woman. I have not yet solidified what I would like to be in the future, but as of this moment, I hope to possibly become

I have always loved looking and participating in art classes, although I am not the best artist, and I enjoy learning about the history behind different
art techniques. But I think that international relations would be something that is absolutely amazing to learn about because through this I could
learn about the connections and effects that occur between so many different nations, and learn about how they interact with one another. I feel like
I could provide an interesting perspective to this program, for the main reason of having been apart of programs similar to this one during previous
summers. I work well with others, and I always try to keep an open mind as to avoid biases and to be more empathetic and understanding towards
others. I am very adaptive to my surroundings even if that means changing topics within a classroom discussion. Something else about me is that I am
what is known as an ambivert. This means that I sit in the scale between being and introvert and an extrovert. Although iI do tend to sway more
towards the introverted side, but only for the reason that I can get lost in my own thoughts or go for hours without taking a break from a book that I am

My Trip To Santa Clara
On my unofficial visit to the campus at Santa Clara, I got a feel for how tight–knit of a community there is at the university. The people were genuine
and friendly, and the staff went out of there way to make sure that I felt comfortable at my future home. Although I am not an engineering major, I
was blown away by the sustainable houses that had been built on campus as part of an engineering project. However, the church on campus had to be
the most beautiful part of my entire visit. The sheer beauty of Santa Clara is one of the reasons that I would like to spend my next four years there. I
was also impressed by the basketball court and the facilities for athletes.

Valley: Life In The Santa Clara Valley
In the Santa Clara Valley, in the years following the war, comparatively very few homes were built in the ways discussed so far in this chapter. The
overwhelming majority were built in large tracts numbering from 50 to 200 homes or more. I will tell you how this mass–produced housing came into
being in Chapter 7, but for now will continue with some additional GI stories. I think Dad knew where he wanted to live after the war, and the set of
circumstances that awaited him after he returned reinforced that. There was no work in Washington, Pennsylvania, where he and Mom grew up, so he
moved to Detroit, where his Uncle Frank lived. His experience with radios in the Army probably helped him get hired at International Detrola, a
company that...show more content...
Both looked at some of the same tracts and were impressed that the El Quito Park homes, at the northeast edge of the Saratoga district, had an "extra"
half bath. At that time most homes had only one bathroom. But the houses were way out in the country and neither Mary nor Mom liked the concrete
slab floors. One day Mary called Mom and told her, "You are now talking to the home–owner Drews." "Mary! You didn't buy one of those houses with
concrete floors, did you?" Well, yes, as a matter of fact they had, and the Stanleys followed suit shortly afterward and bought a home on the next
block. The terms were good for GIs: $25 down for the cost of the blueprints, a 25 year mortgage, and payments of $57.55 a month. The next closest
home in price they considered was in Willow Glen, but they could not qualify for the loan. So the Stanleys–now a family of four, moved out to a street
called Paseo Flores on July 7, 1950. My brother was three years old, my sister was four months old, Mom was 25, and Dad was all of

This case study will show how world philosophy, personal values, and business ethics have components that are shared that impact values and
morals. Values are at the core of all decision making personal or business. This study will provide analysis of how these capacities shape a person's
or business ethics. It will show how something is reasoned to be right or wrong. It will highlight how these ideas get formed, the root of the problem
as well as suggest recommendations that might resolve issues related to world, personal and organization values and ethics. My worldview has come
from a core Christian background since I was raised a Catholic. The view has grown, changed, and continues to develop over time. Religion means
different things to different people. The religions of Islam, and Christianity believe in one God. Hinduism does not. Hindu's believe that the universe
is an egg with many heavens and hells and India is at the center of all of it (Pecorino , 2001). I believe in "God" or if you would prefer to call this
Supreme Being "Allah". I will admit that I struggle with religion. I agree with Karl Marx that religion is man– made (Smith, 1998). Although the holy
books like the "Bible", the "Quran", and the "Vedas" are great stories. I think they may have been influenced by god, after reading parts of all of them
I think they have been interpreted by man for man and contain biases. I would consider myself more closely aligned to theism. This basic view is one

As well as pediatricians, nurses get the same benefits. For example they get health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance and they also get job
security. Since many hospitals are packed with patients, they are in need of a lot of nurses. Afterhigh school, students should be taking classes related
to medicine. For example, students should complete courses on Biology, Nutrition, Sociology, Human anatomy, Chemistry, Statistics, nursing care
for children and elderly, as well as many other courses. After school, nurses need a nursing program diploma, in order to start working. Many
different hospitals and clinics offer jobs for nurses only if the person obtained a bachelor's degree, or higher. A suited province for a nurse is
anywhere. Since medicine constantly differs from country to country a student may take time to find a job, but eventually they will start working. The
projection of this job came to mind. Throughout the years the percent growth arose to sixteen. In 2014, there were at least 2,751,000 jobs offered. As
well as a pediatrician, nurses can easily switch laterally to another field. Some options include a physician assistant or even a doctor. Keep in mind, in
order to move up the ladder, a student needs to go back to school. Usually it takes two to four years to become a physician assistant, but for a doctor it

Business ethicist Kirk Hanson says that "ethical dilemmas are inevitable," occurring more in the first year as a professional than in succeeding years
(Markkula Center for Applied Ethics at Santa Clara University, 2011, 0:55). As a business professional, it's very likely that I will face an ethical
dilemma, or even multiple ethical situations throughout my career. This is why, as Hanson explains, "you need to be aware of what your own values
are" when confronting ethical dilemmas (Markkula Center for Applied Ethics at Santa Clara University, 2011, 1:15). It's important for me to know
my own values because they will provide a foundation for my decision making when involved in an ethical conflict. Currently, I have a short process
that I regularly follow when making tough decisions. This process entails thinking about the people involved in the specific situation and how each
of them will be affected by the decision I make. Next, I consider the possible actions I could take, and predict the outcome of those actions. Upon
completion of this thought process, I typically know what has to be done. Prior to this course I would've said that my decision making process was
good enough the way it was. Now, Dr. MacCammon's discussion on ethics made me realize how important this process is, and it inspired me to
strengthen my approach. Dr. MacCammon provided us with a document called A Framework for Thinking Ethically. The document states that "having

The Pueblo Of Santa Clara Canyon Area
The Pueblo of Santa Clara was devastated by the 2011 Las Conchas Fire, which burned more than 156,000 acres of the reservation's upland forest in
the Santa Clara Canyon area. The fire impacted not only the ecological balance of the area, but also the spiritual balance of the tribe. Although this is
not the first fire that has blackened tribal and neighboring lands in recent history, it was by far the most devastating. In addition to scorching nearly
two thirds of the watershed that the people of Santa Clara are heavily reliant on, the fire burned many sites of spiritual significance, and produced
detrimental after effects. Because the people of Santa Clara Pueblo recognize the Santa Clara Canyon as our ancestral homeland, it is...show more

Background to resilience thinking What does it really mean to be resilient? Resilience has been defined in many different contexts and has many
different interpretations, but in this case, resilience is " the capacity of a system to absorb disturbance and reorganize so as to retain essentially the
same function, structure, and feedbacks [identity]" (Walker and Salt, 2012). That being said, resilience theory focuses on the social–ecological
interactions of a system, keeping in mind that systems are self–organizing and complex, and can either adapt or transform depending on the magnitude
of perturbations. Having a system that is resilient does not necessarily mean that it is a good thing and unfavorable system states can be resilient
(Walker and Salt, 2012). A distinction between sustainability and resilience should be made in order to understand the resilience approach.
Sustainability refers to a system that is essentially in dynamic equilibrium where the system states can be maintained, and resilience recognizes that
systems are changing nonlinearly and that shifts in system states may occur (Benson and Craig, 2014). In a world where humans are completely
altering the environmental system, which ultimately affects every aspect of the social system, the resilience approach seems necessary. It is said, "to
be indigenous is to be resilient"

Reflection About Personal Values
The reality of what we face in this physical universe is broken down into our personal values, philosophy of life and business ethics. The things that
are most important to us make up our personal values while we strive to be successful in our career goals maintaining morale by knowing what's
ethically right and wrong. As I reflect about my own values I view it as a maze where each direction takes me to a path to reach goals throughout my
life. Not only does this maze help me to bring all my values together, but to understand what is important to me and how my career with works with my
own values ethically.
My life is like a maze where I have traveled many different directions with a goal to accomplish for each direction. In each path that I have traveled
I've seen that the importance of each isn't the same, but at the same time is a part of me. The decisions and actions that I make all stem from my
ideas, beliefs, and values. As long as I can remember I was brought up in the household with a Christian worldview in and out of church. In my
adult like I see that I have grown to become this strong independent woman of God and those beliefs have continued to not only give me the
strength, but this positive uplifting energy that pushes me to work towards my goals and help me to be the best mother I can. As I reflect on my
life I feel that we are God's creation and miracles happen. David Noebel states, that "America has been described as a Christian Nation". He discusses
the Christian worldview as well as the cultural and social breakdown and I relate to was that the Christian worldview is "a wake–up call for everyone".
From as long as I can remember the teachings about God has been told to me by my grandmother's, my aunt, and my parents. There were many
lessons that were related to life and show how consequences and experiences impact your belief. The Christian worldview is more than just a
religious belief but a complete and integrated way to see the world. I live my life by faith with all people that I hold close to me which is mostly
family. My passion for education pushes me too continue this path of learning more in my career, but my personal life where the faith of God follows
me makes it a reality. As I

The Path To Success Essay
The path to success There are several qualities to have to be successful in college. These qualities can range from attending class to going above and
beyond what's expected. Success comes from the journey taken or the path chosen. Success also comes from being prepared. As a student, I must
step up to the challenge and find the path to success along the way. Several ways I define success is to uphold academic integrity, have the ability to
prioritize, and to motivate myself to stay on top of what needs to be accomplished. Academic integrity holds a great deal of weight. This includes
honesty in the work produced, as well as being able to accomplish the work. Responsibility in addition plays important factor into integrity. I see...show

Most of my days are long and tiring. By managing my time wisely, I normally get everything I need for school and my extra circular actives done
in a timely fashion. Sometimes it takes not hanging out with the girls, in order to make sure I get my work done. Even putting in an extra hour at
work helps me manage my time more wisely and keeps me from temptation. Which in turn forces me to focus more on my school work. Coaching
football has always been a passion of mine. Knowing how restricted my schedule is, I strive to get my boys out of practice on time everyday. That
way I can make it home to get some studying in, before I head into work. Many people believe success in college is rocket science, but actually it's
the exact opposite. College is set up for students with the most basic high school knowledge to have a chance to excel. It's the simple things that
can make or break a student's college career. Things such as going or not going to class. No brainer right? Sometimes sleep seems so much better
than eight o'clock A.M. math, but a successful college student has to have the willpower to resist the temptation to not skip out on class. College is
all about learning and not cutting corners, which only will hurt in the end. Everyday of missed class information will be lost, therefore the lack of
understanding will show on a test or pop quiz. Attendance is a key to success. If I don't go

Code of Ethics
The Code of Ethics is absolutely essential for every education major to have a strong understanding of. This code presents the main rules and
regulations that apply to future teachers to ensure the best behavior and actions possible, inside and outside of the classroom. It is a clear guide of
unethical activities that teachers may never indulge in without risking suspension, revocation, denial, or reprimand of any teaching certificate. The
code is broken down into eleven different standards which are easy for educators to understand and abide by.
The first code is labeled Standard 1: Legal Compliance. This code states that an educator must abide by state, federal, and local laws and includes but

They also cannot furnish tobacco, alcohol, or drugs to any student and must prevent usage of these substances while students are on school property. It
is completely inappropriate to commit any of these crimes and if someone who is an education major has considered any of these acts, he or she may
need to consider a different career path because it is our job to protect children, not endanger them.
Standard three is labeled Alcohol or Drugs. This standard is about teachers refraining from using alcohol or drugs during the courses of professional
activity. This includes activities that are outside of the classroom, such as football games, school concerts, and parent nights. Teachers cannot indulge
in anything that could intoxicate them if they know that they are going to have to be on school property. They also cannot possess alcohol anywhere
on school property, including their vehicles. The most preventative way to refrain from violating this code is for teachers to omit the use of alcohol
and drugs from their lives completely and turn to healthier outlets to relieve stress, such as exercise or meditation.
Standard four talks about honesty. This code states that all educators must exemplify honesty and integrity during the course of professional practice.
Teachers must be honest at

Santa Clara University is a school that shares my same values; it is imperative for me to further my education in a place like such and, for this reason,
I applied to SCU. Finding the good in people, living with faith, being generous, helping others, and being engaged in the community are all values that
I possess. Santa Clara University would allow me to have a college career and, at the same time, continue to find God in everything that I pursue,
while I strive to be the best human I can. Another reason why I chose this university is that it offers classes in a low scale setting, which will create
an opportunity for me to seek help outside of class, connect with my professors, and be able to participate in class. SCU offers me a great academic

Mission Santa Clara De Asis

  • 1. Mission Santa Clara De Asis Mission Santa Clara De Asis Written By:Anh Le Introduction Have you learned about missions? One about the missions was that Junipero Serra founded only 9 of the 21 missions founded in California. One of the missions founded by Junipero Serra was Mission Santa Clara De Asis(Wikipedia "Junipero Serra) which is the mission I'm going to inform you about. One of the resources that I used for this paper was "The Missions: California's Heritage,Mission Santa Clara De Asis" by Mary Null BouleМЃ, published by Merryant Publishers, 1988. Next, I will inform you about the history of this mission and also it's designs. History Did you know that The Santa Clara Mission was the 8th mission built (from "Fact Cards California ,Missions ,Mission Santa Clara...show more content... For example, one of the most recent disaster was a fire in 1926 (from"Fact Cards California ,Missions ,Mission Santa Clara De Asis"). How this affected the mission was that it made the mission more stable over the years. For example, when the first version of the mission was made of logs and then moved on to more stable materials like adobe bricks. Next, you will learn about the routine of the native americans and about which tribes were brought to this mission. Have you ever wondered about the routine of the Native Americans that went to the mission? Well first of all,to clarify which Native Americans were brought there, it was the Ohlone and the Chochenyo that were brought to the mission to be baptized(from The article The History of Mission Santa Clara(Santa Clara University website)). Ok so each morning, the native americans were awakened by a church bell and were sent to church which was before breakfast and after breakfast is work. Woman cooked, older boys worked in fields, and children went to school where padres taught them. At noon, they eat lunch(page 8 of "The Missions: California's Heritage Mission Santa Clara De AsiМЃs" by Mary Null BouleМЃ,published by Merryant Publishers,1988). Then, after their lunch, they had a 2 hour break before going back to work.then they had dinner and danced, sang, and played and went to sleep after(page 8 of "The Missions: California's Heritage Mission Santa Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Santa Clara University Character Analysis I can relate very well to Santa Clara University's strategic mission, which at its core stresses the importance of a positive character. Having studied in a Catholic high school, I learned that a positive character is essential to succeeding in life. Knowledge, love, and financial independence will reveal themselves to individuals with the right character traits. From that, I believe that SCU will provide me not only the knowledge to succeed in the world but also the character traits needed to make the world a better Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Personal Narrative: Santa Clarita I was born at UCLA Santa Monica, yet a few days after being born my family picked up and moved to Seattle. From my first few days in the world to 4 years old, we moved all around from the West coast to the East coast until finally settling in to Santa Clarita. Although Santa Clarita is part of L.A. county it hardly feels like it. From here L.A. is approximately 35 miles away, which can be a quick 40 minutes or a grueling hour and a half. Aside from the distance our little town seems so separated from the busy city life. So much so that when I drive into L.A. I experience a culture shock. The way my brain works rapidly while trying to process every little thing I see always gives me a pounding headache. Santa Clarita has a plain Jane feel, not Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Preparing for Ethical Challenges Essay Preparing For Ethical Challenges A survey by the Josephson Institute of Ethics polled more than 20,000 middle and high school students about moral standards. Almost half of these students reported stealing something from a store in the previous 12 months. In the same period, seven out of 10 cheated on an exam. There is more and more evidence of antisocial behavior than ever among our youth. Even our most academically talented students tend to let personal interest triumph over the common good. (Johnson, 1999) Where have we gone wrong? In the early 19th century ethics was as much a part of the curriculum as mathematics. Children were taught from readers that were filled with stories of honesty, self–reliance, and courage. The ...show more content... In other words, these students need to be taught life skills. First, our educators need to have a firm understanding themselves of what it means to be an ethical leader. A study by Barrett et al. suggests that teachers have an understanding of the underlying ethical principles of their profession but a set of principles should be compiled that follows the code of ethics for America Psychological Association and the American Medical Association. (Weegar, 2007) This national code of ethics would establish a standard for defining the expected ethical behavior of education professionals. Since the educators are the first line of defense it is important to protect the students against incompetent educators and/or educators who would not follow their code of ethics. It is important to develop a plan for re–enforcing ethics to students at the university level. But, here is my dilemma. While I fully believe the university has an obligation to further the students' education in this arena. How does the university engage young adults and convince them that there is more to be learned? I wonder if, as a young adult , an ethical code is already set and, if it is, then how do the universities go about re–opening that door in order to pique their interest in the subject matter. I believe the task to be extremely difficult but, not impossible. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Santa Clara University Strategic Vision Analysis The aspect of Santa Clara University strategic vision that appeals to me is the promise to educate citizens and leaders about Competence, Conscience, and Compassion. Citizens and leaders need Competence which in order to be able to do a task or assignment successfully and efficiently. Leaders and citizens need to learn to have conscience on how to differentiate the right from wrong. Leaders and citizens need to learn to have Compassion, which is sympathy and have concern for others. These three crucial elements of human character and the ways to act is what builds a more humane and sustainable world. These strategic vision appeals to me since there are essential to to develop and build leaders and citizens in the world we live in today. People Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Mission Of The Mission Santa Clara The Mission Santa Clara is a historical California site that is laid in the center of the Santa Clara University. In 1777, it established and founded by the Franciscan Order. The mission's purpose was to be the sister mission to Mission Dolores that is in San Francisco. Due to Mexico withdrawing from the Spanish Empire, the King of Spain and his Viceroy, the ones sponsoring the missions, were no longer in power. The Mexican government didn't have enough resources and was not interested to maintain and upkeep the distant missions, removing the Spanish Franciscans. With little funds, the mission perished slowly until the ownership of the mission was passed over to the Society of Jesus, also called the Jesuits, in 1851. They made Santa Clara college and today, Mission Santa Clara is used as a student chapel and opened to the public. Mission Santa Clara is set in the middle of Santa Clara University (which can be seen in the Santa Clara University's campus map), located in the Bay area. When it was founded, the city of Santa Clara was seen as a good place to set the mission due to it having fertile land, mild climate that makes for comfortable living, and abundance of game in the area. In front of the mission, there stands the Mission Cross. At the base of the cross, a piece of the original cross, from 1777, is placed inside as a memorable. Standing in front of the mission's door, the three bronze statues of St. John the Baptist, St. Claire, and St. Francis Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Summer Program Application Essay The reason as to why I am applying for this summer program is because of the opportunity that it provides. Programs such as these gives the unique opportunity to explore multiple different career paths. But, not only does it provide a learning opportunity, it also allows a cultural one. Being able to travel and live in a foreign country at such a young age is one of the most memorable and amazing things that you can do. I believe that if accepted into this program, that I will do my very best to prove myself dedicated as a student because I want to spend my life learning and preparing myself for the real world as a careered woman. I have not yet solidified what I would like to be in the future, but as of this moment, I hope to possibly become ...show more content... I have always loved looking and participating in art classes, although I am not the best artist, and I enjoy learning about the history behind different art techniques. But I think that international relations would be something that is absolutely amazing to learn about because through this I could learn about the connections and effects that occur between so many different nations, and learn about how they interact with one another. I feel like I could provide an interesting perspective to this program, for the main reason of having been apart of programs similar to this one during previous summers. I work well with others, and I always try to keep an open mind as to avoid biases and to be more empathetic and understanding towards others. I am very adaptive to my surroundings even if that means changing topics within a classroom discussion. Something else about me is that I am what is known as an ambivert. This means that I sit in the scale between being and introvert and an extrovert. Although iI do tend to sway more towards the introverted side, but only for the reason that I can get lost in my own thoughts or go for hours without taking a break from a book that I am Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. My Trip To Santa Clara On my unofficial visit to the campus at Santa Clara, I got a feel for how tight–knit of a community there is at the university. The people were genuine and friendly, and the staff went out of there way to make sure that I felt comfortable at my future home. Although I am not an engineering major, I was blown away by the sustainable houses that had been built on campus as part of an engineering project. However, the church on campus had to be the most beautiful part of my entire visit. The sheer beauty of Santa Clara is one of the reasons that I would like to spend my next four years there. I was also impressed by the basketball court and the facilities for athletes. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Valley: Life In The Santa Clara Valley In the Santa Clara Valley, in the years following the war, comparatively very few homes were built in the ways discussed so far in this chapter. The overwhelming majority were built in large tracts numbering from 50 to 200 homes or more. I will tell you how this mass–produced housing came into being in Chapter 7, but for now will continue with some additional GI stories. I think Dad knew where he wanted to live after the war, and the set of circumstances that awaited him after he returned reinforced that. There was no work in Washington, Pennsylvania, where he and Mom grew up, so he moved to Detroit, where his Uncle Frank lived. His experience with radios in the Army probably helped him get hired at International Detrola, a company that...show more content... Both looked at some of the same tracts and were impressed that the El Quito Park homes, at the northeast edge of the Saratoga district, had an "extra" half bath. At that time most homes had only one bathroom. But the houses were way out in the country and neither Mary nor Mom liked the concrete slab floors. One day Mary called Mom and told her, "You are now talking to the home–owner Drews." "Mary! You didn't buy one of those houses with concrete floors, did you?" Well, yes, as a matter of fact they had, and the Stanleys followed suit shortly afterward and bought a home on the next block. The terms were good for GIs: $25 down for the cost of the blueprints, a 25 year mortgage, and payments of $57.55 a month. The next closest home in price they considered was in Willow Glen, but they could not qualify for the loan. So the Stanleys–now a family of four, moved out to a street called Paseo Flores on July 7, 1950. My brother was three years old, my sister was four months old, Mom was 25, and Dad was all of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. This case study will show how world philosophy, personal values, and business ethics have components that are shared that impact values and morals. Values are at the core of all decision making personal or business. This study will provide analysis of how these capacities shape a person's or business ethics. It will show how something is reasoned to be right or wrong. It will highlight how these ideas get formed, the root of the problem as well as suggest recommendations that might resolve issues related to world, personal and organization values and ethics. My worldview has come from a core Christian background since I was raised a Catholic. The view has grown, changed, and continues to develop over time. Religion means different things to different people. The religions of Islam, and Christianity believe in one God. Hinduism does not. Hindu's believe that the universe is an egg with many heavens and hells and India is at the center of all of it (Pecorino , 2001). I believe in "God" or if you would prefer to call this Supreme Being "Allah". I will admit that I struggle with religion. I agree with Karl Marx that religion is man– made (Smith, 1998). Although the holy books like the "Bible", the "Quran", and the "Vedas" are great stories. I think they may have been influenced by god, after reading parts of all of them I think they have been interpreted by man for man and contain biases. I would consider myself more closely aligned to theism. This basic view is one creator Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Santa Clara Research Paper Santa Clara University was founded in 1851, this school obtains the oldest operating institution of higher learning in California. Santa Clara offers bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees. The tuition for SCU annually starts at $45,300. Santa Clara University offers biology, chemistry, biochemistry, physics, sociology and many more. All these programs are a necessity in order to become a pediatrician or a job that majors inmedicine. Usually it takes four years to finish undergraduate and from there the student has the choice to study their graduate at the same school or to move to a different school to finish graduate school. Santa Clara University is located in Santa Clara, California. Santa Clara's has lovely weather. Usually hot or ...show more content... As well as pediatricians, nurses get the same benefits. For example they get health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance and they also get job security. Since many hospitals are packed with patients, they are in need of a lot of nurses. Afterhigh school, students should be taking classes related to medicine. For example, students should complete courses on Biology, Nutrition, Sociology, Human anatomy, Chemistry, Statistics, nursing care for children and elderly, as well as many other courses. After school, nurses need a nursing program diploma, in order to start working. Many different hospitals and clinics offer jobs for nurses only if the person obtained a bachelor's degree, or higher. A suited province for a nurse is anywhere. Since medicine constantly differs from country to country a student may take time to find a job, but eventually they will start working. The projection of this job came to mind. Throughout the years the percent growth arose to sixteen. In 2014, there were at least 2,751,000 jobs offered. As well as a pediatrician, nurses can easily switch laterally to another field. Some options include a physician assistant or even a doctor. Keep in mind, in order to move up the ladder, a student needs to go back to school. Usually it takes two to four years to become a physician assistant, but for a doctor it takes Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Business ethicist Kirk Hanson says that "ethical dilemmas are inevitable," occurring more in the first year as a professional than in succeeding years (Markkula Center for Applied Ethics at Santa Clara University, 2011, 0:55). As a business professional, it's very likely that I will face an ethical dilemma, or even multiple ethical situations throughout my career. This is why, as Hanson explains, "you need to be aware of what your own values are" when confronting ethical dilemmas (Markkula Center for Applied Ethics at Santa Clara University, 2011, 1:15). It's important for me to know my own values because they will provide a foundation for my decision making when involved in an ethical conflict. Currently, I have a short process that I regularly follow when making tough decisions. This process entails thinking about the people involved in the specific situation and how each of them will be affected by the decision I make. Next, I consider the possible actions I could take, and predict the outcome of those actions. Upon completion of this thought process, I typically know what has to be done. Prior to this course I would've said that my decision making process was good enough the way it was. Now, Dr. MacCammon's discussion on ethics made me realize how important this process is, and it inspired me to strengthen my approach. Dr. MacCammon provided us with a document called A Framework for Thinking Ethically. The document states that "having a method for ethical decision Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. The Pueblo Of Santa Clara Canyon Area The Pueblo of Santa Clara was devastated by the 2011 Las Conchas Fire, which burned more than 156,000 acres of the reservation's upland forest in the Santa Clara Canyon area. The fire impacted not only the ecological balance of the area, but also the spiritual balance of the tribe. Although this is not the first fire that has blackened tribal and neighboring lands in recent history, it was by far the most devastating. In addition to scorching nearly two thirds of the watershed that the people of Santa Clara are heavily reliant on, the fire burned many sites of spiritual significance, and produced detrimental after effects. Because the people of Santa Clara Pueblo recognize the Santa Clara Canyon as our ancestral homeland, it is...show more content... Background to resilience thinking What does it really mean to be resilient? Resilience has been defined in many different contexts and has many different interpretations, but in this case, resilience is " the capacity of a system to absorb disturbance and reorganize so as to retain essentially the same function, structure, and feedbacks [identity]" (Walker and Salt, 2012). That being said, resilience theory focuses on the social–ecological interactions of a system, keeping in mind that systems are self–organizing and complex, and can either adapt or transform depending on the magnitude of perturbations. Having a system that is resilient does not necessarily mean that it is a good thing and unfavorable system states can be resilient (Walker and Salt, 2012). A distinction between sustainability and resilience should be made in order to understand the resilience approach. Sustainability refers to a system that is essentially in dynamic equilibrium where the system states can be maintained, and resilience recognizes that systems are changing nonlinearly and that shifts in system states may occur (Benson and Craig, 2014). In a world where humans are completely altering the environmental system, which ultimately affects every aspect of the social system, the resilience approach seems necessary. It is said, "to be indigenous is to be resilient" Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Reflection About Personal Values The reality of what we face in this physical universe is broken down into our personal values, philosophy of life and business ethics. The things that are most important to us make up our personal values while we strive to be successful in our career goals maintaining morale by knowing what's ethically right and wrong. As I reflect about my own values I view it as a maze where each direction takes me to a path to reach goals throughout my life. Not only does this maze help me to bring all my values together, but to understand what is important to me and how my career with works with my own values ethically. My life is like a maze where I have traveled many different directions with a goal to accomplish for each direction. In each path that I have traveled I've seen that the importance of each isn't the same, but at the same time is a part of me. The decisions and actions that I make all stem from my ideas, beliefs, and values. As long as I can remember I was brought up in the household with a Christian worldview in and out of church. In my adult like I see that I have grown to become this strong independent woman of God and those beliefs have continued to not only give me the strength, but this positive uplifting energy that pushes me to work towards my goals and help me to be the best mother I can. As I reflect on my life I feel that we are God's creation and miracles happen. David Noebel states, that "America has been described as a Christian Nation". He discusses the Christian worldview as well as the cultural and social breakdown and I relate to was that the Christian worldview is "a wake–up call for everyone". From as long as I can remember the teachings about God has been told to me by my grandmother's, my aunt, and my parents. There were many lessons that were related to life and show how consequences and experiences impact your belief. The Christian worldview is more than just a religious belief but a complete and integrated way to see the world. I live my life by faith with all people that I hold close to me which is mostly family. My passion for education pushes me too continue this path of learning more in my career, but my personal life where the faith of God follows me makes it a reality. Responsibility in addition plays important factor into integrity. I see...show more content... Most of my days are long and tiring. By managing my time wisely, I normally get everything I need for school and my extra circular actives done in a timely fashion. Sometimes it takes not hanging out with the girls, in order to make sure I get my work done. Even putting in an extra hour at work helps me manage my time more wisely and keeps me from temptation. Which in turn forces me to focus more on my school work. Coaching football has always been a passion of mine. Knowing how restricted my schedule is, I strive to get my boys out of practice on time everyday. That way I can make it home to get some studying in, before I head into work. Many people believe success in college is rocket science, but actually it's the exact opposite. College is set up for students with the most basic high school knowledge to have a chance to excel. It's the simple things that can make or break a student's college career. Things such as going or not going to class. No brainer right? Sometimes sleep seems so much better than eight o'clock A.M. math, but a successful college student has to have the willpower to resist the temptation to not skip out on class. College is all about learning and not cutting corners, which only will hurt in the end. Everyday of missed class information will be lost, therefore the lack of understanding will show on a test or pop quiz. Attendance is a key to success.
