- We use simple present tense to describe situations that stays true in the past, now and in the future. Think about it- what situations will not change through time?

- Cody lives in San Francisco- we know Cody lived in SF yesterday, today and tomorrow. The situation stays unchanged for a while. The fact that Ashley is from New York will never change, and same with the fact that there are many good restaurant is San Francisco. When speakers say these sentences, they will know the situations are facts or truth, and it will not change for a while.
