Functional: Mr Purnell is an expert in the oversight and management of large scale
business change and system integration programs / projects. He has
extensive experience in strategic planning, business change and
delivering leading-edge business solutions with new and complex
technologies.
As a former lead partner in the Accenture Management Consulting
practice he had both sales and delivery responsibilities for many large,
complex programs / projects. He resigned from Accenture in October
2002.Since then he has operating his own premium consulting business
specialisingin oversighting high risk business transformation

AMP
Quality oversight over various large scale transformation initiatives at AMP including FPS3 (financial
planningtransformation), FLR3 (risk insurance), Finance Change program, Flinders (sales force change
program), Federal Budget superannuation reforms, new business initiative, etc. Recently involved in
specific programs delivering the AXA merger and FOFA reforms.
Quality oversight over AMP Capital Investors company transformation initiative (ROEE - Rebuilding for
operational efficiency and effectiveness) which rebuilt the front, middle and back office investment
management systems and processes including working with the CEO, CFO, CIO and company board.
Bank of Queensland
Stream lead for creation of their Retail lending roadmap.

Quality oversight over numerous MLC initiatives over many years including the Work management
transformational initiative, the Darwin product simplification / trade up’s, the Custodian
consolidation, the Tax Information Management initiative, the Federal Budget superannuation

development centre and Integration Services review, Masterkey review, the IT infrastructure /

Stream Leader for the Technology Infrastructure stream of the NAB IT strategy. Also provided
strategic assistancedefining the operating model for regionalisation of the NAB and MLC IT

Macquarie Bank

trust / estate administration outsource and customer / asset migration to Macquarie, the broking
platform integration, the new direct broking business establishment, the Premium Funding platform
replacement, the business lending systems and process review, the IT Operations transformation
review, the Cards business securitisation initiative, the payments platform transformational initiative,
the Margin Lending business sale / merger, the integration of the ING Wrap service within Macquarie,
the UK Wrap service introduction, the Accounts Payable and General Ledger implementations, the
Seibel implementation, and the Wrap business change program. Also conducted various Post
Implementation Reviews of specific projects undertaken, reviews over new product / deal launches

Quality oversight over the delivery of a large change programme involving both BNP and AMP, this
including reviewing the Accenture involvement and delivery of the change programme.

Undertook various program and project management, strategic planningand other consulting
assignments for clients such as Coca Cola Amatil, Attorney Generals Department, AXA, COIN

Partner within the Accenture Financial Services practice
As a lead partner within the Accenture Management Consulting practice, Paul had both sales and
delivery responsibility for numerous client engagements as well as practice responsibility for the
technology integration services (architecture) group. Sales responsibility involved development of client
relationships and opportunities to ensure a reasonable volume of business was performed with
Accenture. Paul had client partner sales responsibility for ANZ Bank in 2002 and previous to this with
Westpac for 4 years. Paul was also responsible for delivery of this work to the client’s satisfaction as well
as quality assuranceresponsibilities to various other client engagements.
Some of the engagements and quality assuranceresponsibilities Paul was responsible for include the
Westpac Seibel CRM implementation, business banking lending origination and online banking system,
establishment of the Westpac discount broking capability, strategy for branch integration during the
merger/acquisition of Challenge Bank, establishment of the new branch service/teller system and
infrastructure, account conversion during the merger/acquisition of the Bank of Melbourne, core
systems replacement at AGC, etc.
At ANZ Bank, core system enhancements to corporate and institutional systems, strategy for usage of
the internet channel within Corporate and Institutional Banking.
Also undertook various program and project management, strategic planning and other consulting
assignments for clients such as Thai Farmers Bank, St George / Advance Bank, Sealcorp, CUSCAL,
Standard Chartered Bank, AXA, Renison Gold Fields, NSW Premier’s Department, NSW Department of
Transport, NZ Social Welfare Department, Australian Immigration, Local Government, and Ethnic
