WORK HISTORY
From 2002 to present I have been involved in the theatre and entertainment industry working in many different
roles from general crew and technician positions to production and tour management, as well as holding
multiple senior managerial positions within some of New Zealand’s most high profile theatre companies.
During 2008 I was the full time production manager for Taki Rua Productions, New Zealand’s leading Maori
Theatre Company. This involved taking several award winning shows on both national and international tours to
festivals across New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific Islands. Through Taki Rua I also toured with their Te
Reo Maori tour, an educational theatre performance to encourage the use of Maori language to schools, Te
Kura Kaupapa and Marae across New Zealand.
I am employed regularly as a guest tutor at UNITEC’s School of Performing and Screen Arts, through its
Bachelor of Performance and Screen Arts, teaching production and tour management as well as mentoring
students through industry placements.
Most recently, I have been employed with Auckland Theatre Company as their Technical and Production
Manager, looking after technical elements in all departments for their main bill and touring seasons as well as
planning, budgeting, managing production week schedules and all production and event related health and
safety.

Duties include:
• Building, installing and maintaining the 2014 Westpac Giving Tree automated Christmas trees.
• Preparation, installation, rigging and removal of automated flying systems for large-scale concert and
corporate events.
• Troubleshooting of technical equipment during concert and corporate events.
• Performing basic maintenance on rigging and automated equipment.
Auckland Theatre Company
Positions include: Technical Management, Assistant Stage Management, Lighting Technician, General

Duties include:
• Overseeing all technical/staging requirements for the 2006 & 2007 Next Stage script development
seasons.
• Working with Lighting Designers with rigging and focusing lighting designs for various theatrical
performances in different theatres.
• Working alongside the Stage Manger during rehearsals, production week and performances to make
sure backstage area is organised and runs smoothly during performance.
Technical Manager
2011 – 2012
Duties include:
• Overseeing the technical requirements for all main bill performances, including lighting, sound, audio
visual, set and costume.
• Creating and managing production week schedules.
• Supervising production weeks and assisting in all departments, where required, ensuring they keep to
schedule. This includes making changes and adapting the schedule where necessary.
• Engaging all technical crew required for production week and performances.
• Maintaining an up-to-date working knowledge of lighting, sound and audiovisual equipment used for
theatrical performances.
• Maintaining good working relationships with local suppliers and theatrical service providers.
• Liaising with venues regarding staff requirements, technical equipment requirements and schedules,
including venues outside of Auckland when the Company is touring.
• Putting together tour riders and tour schedules for various touring performances.
• Reading and interpreting Venue CAD drawings and working with designers to ensure that all working
drawings are accurate and are able to fit within performance spaces. This includes construction
drawings for installation.
Technical and Production Manager

Duties In addition to Technical Manager position:
• Managing production related budgets.
• Employing and managing external show specific contractors.
• Consulting for technical and venue requirements for the new Waterfront Theatre project.
• Creating and maintaining health and safety risk assessments, JSA and method statements for each
production. This includes monitoring of health and safety practice during production weeks and during
each season.
• Maintaining current knowledge of current health and safety regulations, law changes and standard
industry practices.

• Overseeing directors, designers, builders and crew to make sure they are keeping to schedule and
maintaining the tikanga (traditions) of the company.
• Adapting touring performances to fit in various venues while maintaining the integrity of the designer’s
original ideas and concepts.
• Travelling with touring performances and organising the daily operations of touring including pack-
in/outs, production time, media calls, show calls and post-show events.
• Maintaining financial records of spending to ensure productions stays within budget.

• Compiling rehearsal and show reports to create an end of show production reports to give to the
company’s board, explaining each season from a production point of view including budgets,
